I am a Jeep girl. When I was in high school my dad had a CJ and I drove it all the time. When I met my ex husband he had a Scrambler (long bed Wrangler in the 80"s). When the kids were growing up I had to drive regular cars, but during those years I had a Grand Cherokee and a Liberty - those are technically Jeeps - but to me a Jeep is a Wrangler.
Finally in 2015 I got my own Jeep Wrangler Sport in yellow with black soft top, automatic. I was in heaven! I drove it for 3 years - traded it in for a tricked out Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2018 because it was $100 cheaper a month then the Wrangler and I was getting divorced and had to cut corners. I miss my Wrangler every day. It was so much fun to drive! I never had any problems with any of my Jeeps.
Ex-husband got a Rubicon at one time and it was very nice - lots of bells and whistles. It was a 5 speed and nobody has time for that!
I wish I still had my Wrangler. I know I'm weird, but to me your car is an expression of your personality. I may look like an old lady - but I've still got some wildness in me. I hope you get your Jeep!

Oh gosh is was so fun to read the responses! Ended up with an unexpectedly crazy work day, so threw this out last night then went to bed and sorry I should have specified I'm only looking at wranglers! Although when we had gone to a dealership to window-shop DH had teased how nice a Cherokee would be for road trips. Nahhh, not this time. He's a truck guy, does all our car maintenance and repairs (plus some side projects restoring 2 old Chevy trucks presently) and he thinks the jeep is a fine idea (and more fun than maintenance on a bmw). The broncos are nice and I love them when I see them, but my interest wore off kind of quick for some reason. And the interior of the Bronco sport (which are cute although would not be any off-road potential) looks almost identical to my work Ford Edge and that's def not what I want.

We have had both a basic hard top Wrangler, and now have a Willy’s retractable soft top, and wouldn’t have it any other way. The hard tops weigh like 150lbs, so you couldn’t take it off in your own, and it’s still super heavy and awkward for two people. We ended up putting a pulley system in our garage, which worked well, but took about 20 min to use. Also, if you do take off the hard top, you have to have a place to store it. It’s a bummer when you’re on a road trip and you can’t take it off for any of the above reasons. The soft top is fabulous! One hit of the button and you have sky! You can pull it back as far as you want. Yes, it’s a little noisy (nothing like the old soft tops! A friend who had an old one was super impressed!) It’s not a luxury vehicle…it’s meant to be an off road vehicle, so a little road noise doesn’t bother us. You don’t have to have two people to take it off, or have a place to store it. It’s absolutely perfect. We will never go back to the hard top! This is interesting to hear how much you like the power soft top, I'll have to look at it! I know they are standard on the high tide model and I didn't like the way it looked folded back and hoped the freedom panels over the front would be okay for the most part. I'll have to check them out in-person.

We have had a long history with Jeeps—my husband is a huge fan. Me—not so much because we live in the frozen tundra and if the sun is out he wants the top rolled back or off. My poor hair! And they are so loud! Lol. My husband has a company car so the Jeeps are third cars. But the most fun we had with a Jeep was a two door Wrangler with a hard top. In the spring we would take the top off (we had a lift in the garage) and the rest of the summer, if we got caught in a rain storm, we just laughed. That thing was a blast to drive, we could park it anywhere and we sold it for $1500 more than we paid for it (it was used when we bought it)! We now have the Jeep truck and the neighbors joke that he washes it every weekend. So it’s love (for my husband, I’m still getting my hair messed up, lol) They all get terrible gas mileage. ps I just asked my husband what a Willy was so I reallllly don’t know my Jeeps! Love the color! Funny how you have the love and not so much between you both. I think a 2-door would be the most fun (!!!) but it's for the dogs, too, so we gotta get the 4-door to keep it easy in and out for them. I see a fair number of the jeep gladiators (truck version) around here and they are cool looking!

I'm on my 3rd Jeep I'm a Jeep girl, love al of them. I still have my 19 Mojito Rubicon and just recently picked up my 23 Rubicon (392) in High Velocity Yellow Both my Jeeps have the convertible sky top. I love it, I never have to worry about storing a top. Just push a button and I'm topless My new Jeep isn't lifted yet. I have my wheels out being refinished. It looks so small not lifted and no big tires  Soooo jealous! and the 392 can't justify it for me, I know what you paid but that is totally the look I love!

We have had a few Jeeps.. The Wrangler was our new one (years ago).. we loved it except for long trips.. Noisy! It was a soft top. It was fun. Never any mechanical issues to speak of. DH has had several old ones that he has fixed up.. old old... I can't really give an opinion on those since he was 'saving' them.. lol.. so yeah he spent time on the engines/body work. They were mostly reliable though. I would most definitely buy a Jeep over a BMW any day.. not really a fan. We tinkered with the idea of the Ford Bronco. But ended up with a Ford F-150 since we are pulling ATVs all over the place (Moab included).. Can't wait to get to Moab! Not sure if it would be with the camper and RZR or just a smaller trip in a jeep with DH's mountain bike (DD mountain bikes there) but I'm content to just get there with my camera! Sooo pretty!

DH has a Wrangler and I have a Grand Cherokee. We call them the fun Jeep and the dress-up Jeep.
The Wrangler is a 2017 Chief, which is a special edition throw-back and a standard (which is why we bought it). It has a hard top with freedom panels, and DH bought an after-market soft top. He switches the tops out seasonally and the two of us can manage it ok.
The Wrangler is super fun to drive. We did a road trip last year from Texas to Moab and the Grand Circle, and it's the best trip we've ever taken. We don't love the Jeep on the highway, but we took the scenic route where we could and got to see some cool stuff in the Moab area that we couldn't have gotten to without the Wrangler.
He works from home so the Wrangler is just for toodling on the weekend and fun Jeep trips.
My Grand Cherokee is much more comfortable for my daily commute and most road trips. I like it ok. I bought it during the pandemic vehicle shortage because my Highlander was at 200K miles and I was driving in rural Texas and Oklahoma a lot and didn't want to risk a problem with the high mileage. We got a good deal and 0 interest or I'd look at trading it. Honestly, I liked the Highlander better. It's fine, no real complaints, just not as plush or comfortable as the Highlander.

@shells004 I had to laugh at your BMW comment. I’m at that stage I guess. 😂 DH bought me a BMW for retirement this year. It’s fun to drive, but like someone else said, I cannot get comfortable and find the sweet spot in the seat. It’s annoying as hell and makes me feel out of place when I’m driving. You know how you get old and have to turn off the radio to concentrate when you’re trying to figure out where you are? The seat is doing that to me. Luckily, DH is in love with the new car, so someone will get lots of use out of it. Here’s hoping that JEEP is everything you want and you love it.

I’ve had multiple Wranglers, which is the only thing I really consider a Jeep. 😂 My first brand-new vehicle, purchased at 18, and from then on those were the only vehicles I drove up until I had kids… the idea of trying to wrestle a kid/car seat into the back seat of a 2-door Jeep was not practical, so I sadly switched to an SUV.
When we were looking for a car for our teens to drive, I pushed for that again. It’s practical for our area with the 4wd, but it’s also really fun for the kids. I also enjoy driving it every once in a while, especially on nice days!
Having said that, it’s not something I want to drive daily as a 45yo woman. It’s definitely fun, but at this point I want more comfort and more bells and whistles than the Jeep provides. That’s actually why I started really looking at the Bronco, because I felt like it was maybe the more adult/comfortable version of a Wrangler. Spoiler: It wasn’t.
I prefer a soft top, because one of the biggest perks to a Jeep is to take the top off on a whim, which you can’t do with a hard top. We have a soft top that the front part flips up and back, leaving it open over the front row without having to unzip the panels and fold down the whole thing. It’s pretty convenient.
I have a visceral reaction to the 4-door Wranglers and whatever they call that Jeep/truck bastardization. Original 2-door all the way! 🥰

Hmmm, I drive an old (2011) BMW 5 Series and it is super comfy! So great to drive that I will probably drive it into the ground! Perks are that it still looks good and I love not having a car payment! But I would still like a Jeep!

leannec it would help if it was a luxury sedan/SUV. We actually had an X6 loaner and it was like driving a yacht while sitting in a recliner. It was sublime! We went the sporty route, so I’m sitting really low, and just can’t find the comfort spot. I would never drive a Ford Fusion because I had a rental one and it gave me the worst sciatica pain. I could barely get out of the car.

I have a Gladiator (the Jeep truck). I love it! It is a 2021 80th Anniversary edition. It came nicely loaded. It has a much smoother ride than the Wrangler due to its longer wheel base. I live close to the beach, I love the beach, and so it is the perfect ride for me.
I too believe in “Jeep hair, don’t care!”

We test drive a wrangler (very popular with the Motorhome crowd )to pull behind our rig and found it a very uncomfortable ride so we went with the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk that very comfortable on the road and still a lot of fun on the trails , also the gaz mileage is better .

I’m surprised that so many find the new Wranglers to be uncomfortable. We’ve driven our Willy’s on three major road trips and were never uncomfortable.

hope those soft tops are better than they used to be. ours broke twice while we owned it, to the tune of about a 4K fix each time.
