I LOVE the new Waffle Flower Postage Collage products in their July Release. The fact that they have different themed stencils to go with the postage collage cover die is brilliant. For some reason the postage shape gets me every time.

I saw these on IG this morning, I also love the graphic quality of this release. That said, I'm not looking closely. Not, not, not

That caught my eye too! I was just watching a PB&J (Penny Black) video using a big postage stamp shaped die and various coordinating stamps and dies, but I think the Waffle Flower ones might be closer to my style. But I'm also not looking 🙈 not looking 🙈 They've had some cute releases lately (the hugging bears almost got me last month!) and I'm going to pretend I didn't see those cute animal die cuts in the thumbnail too...

Did you see they were referring to this as a series? I'm hoping there are birthday and thinking of you designs.

Love these. When I checked it out earlier the bundle already sold out...so I'm safe for now.

Well, if you don’t want to get sucked into this, do not, under any circumstances, watch todays video from J McGuire. 15 minutes into it here and I’m pretty much a goner. Ink blending, my fave. Simple graphic images, check. And the new mat looks pretty cool too. Off to watch the rest.
Here Waffle Flower, just take my money.

Luckily, the postage thing doesn't do it for me. That's why I didn't care all that much for the C&9 set from C&CD. Although I thought I heard something about them releasing more compatible sets. Maybe it was in the chat and people were talking about these WF ones and hoping for something similar. They haven't even released that one.
Because I felt "safe" I did start Jennifer's video. It seems these new WF sticky mats are very similar to what's in the stamp wheel, so that's very, very cool. I like all the different sizes. She demonstrates using one that fits in her MISTI; I'm sure there's one that will fit my Stamparatus so that I can use it similarly. I will watch to the end to see which other size she recommends, since she said she'd have two.

I caught the Instagram reel that Jennifer McGuire put out yesterday and really liked the mat. I love Waffle Flower, they have such great products, and the owner seems very thoughtful about everything. I'm not really into the postage stamp look, but I did love JM's card.

Grumble, grumble. For the Stamparatus, one would really want a 7x7 or 7.25x7.25, which they don't have. And why would they, really, since the Stamparatus is currently discontinued. I guess I'll make due with a 6x6.

Ordered from ACOT last night right before they sold out. No bundle like at WF site-but got everything 20% off with their July 4th code, so came out way better than bundle price. Picked up the Christmas stencils too that were not part of the bundle. Just got my shipping notice. So many possibilities with this die, with and without the stencils that come with.
You guys are not helpful to a budget. LOL.
ETA: ACOT is sold out, but as of this morning, Waffle Flower still had them available as a pre-order.

Dang, I have been neglecting Waffle Flower for a long time. Not everything in that preview was my thing, but they put out some really cute stuff! Not going to go watch JM video right now... no really, I'm not. For reals. I'm telling you the truth! I am not going to go look!

As much as I love the look I also noticed how much talking JM was able to do while inking. I don’t really love doing a lot of ink blending if I’m being honest with myself. I guess she was doing a lot more selective inking but I’m not sure if I’ve seen examples I love that aren’t done selectively. I still entered the IG giveaway and the one for the die cut critters wearing Xmas clothes.

I looked. Those cards Jennifer made are really cute. And the new mats look interesting. The only thing that gave me pause was when Jennifer said that the mats could stain. It wouldn’t affect the gripping, but I wonder if it might eventually make the grid / alignment sheet hard to see. But I’m still tempted- not having to tape or hold down my stencils is pretty appealing.

And in case you didn’t already see it, Jennifer’s “stencil mask hack” video from June 23rd is a really good idea. She die cut a piece of acetate to make a mini mask, so she could selectively ink parts of a stencil. Seems like it could help with some parts of these postage stencils, without having to futz so much with tiny blending brushes.

I love adding more detail to stencils and mask the heck out of them. Going to totally try her method of masking now! I’m so tired of bits of blue tape all over the place (and stuck to all sorts of random things).

Maybe it's just me, but I find that post-its stop sticking once they get too inky and mint tape somehow seems more likely to stick too much and tear things the more it gets reused.
On the other hand, I don't like fussy stencils as much as some folks do.

To get a sense of how the staining will look after a few weeks of heavy use this short video of Ardyth's shows the photopolymer mat from the Stampwheel that she's been using in the same way as the new WF mats. Only certain colors/inks will stain, just like with stamps, but it will stain. www.youtube.com/shorts/3jl5J1MB1-E

I blame ya'll . . . .
I've been doing so good at not spending money on scrap stuff - - and after cleaning and purging big time, I realized I really had enough stuff to last me for a long while so I wasn't even missing the spending. Then this came along . . .
Ah well, at least I kept the purchase down to two items. The postage die and the Christmas stencils. I LOVE those Christmas stencils. (Probably doesn't help that I've been watching the GAC Christmas movies all week!)

I have the bundle and the Christmas stencil in my cart (pre-order at waffleflower.com) but haven't pushed "buy" yet. I'm on the fence. If they're coming out with more stencils/stamps to go with this - that'd be great! It's making me think maybe I can use the postage stamp dies I already have with some stencils I already have. I just joined the Quad of the Month club at TE and will have some new stencils soon. Thanks for sharing the Christmas in July video joblackford . There are so many small stencils with this. I have a set of small brushes (cheap ones from Amazon) and am not able to use them for good color coverage. I need to look into better brushes.

Seems much more efficient than repeatedly sticking and unsticking tape. And yeah, I have bits of tape everywhere too (for masking, plus taping dies) except mine are yellow (delicate surface Frog Tape). I haven’t had a chance to try this yet. Interested in hearing if / how it works for you.

joblackford, thank you for sharing the videos from Ardyth and Vicki. It was good to see what the staining looked like. And Vicki mentioned the same thing as you about staining, that it all depends on the ink. She also put her ink pad on the edge of the mat to stop it sliding when inking up her brush. I’m 90% convinced- added the 6.5x8.5” mat and the guides trio set to my wish list. I’ll just be mindful of which inks I use.

I caved! Hadn’t bought anything since April. I am a crazy basset hound lady and the dog critter did me in. And, got the stencil mat while I was it. Postage stamp isn’t my thing, but I’m intrigued with how versatile it is. Off to watch JM’s video….

Y’all….OH MY WORD…..
My stuff came today. I ordered because I love all things postage. The layering stencils are cute, and I got them because they were made to go with. But they were incidentals for me. I am a sucker for stamp dies. I have never even done layering stencils. Did not think I would like the tedium of them. I did order some of the Amazon brushes above just to give the stencils a shot.
OH MY WORD. I did not need to know about layering stencils. I LOVE THEM. The process is so calming to me. I cannot even believe I have never tried them before. Unbelievable!!!! Another rabbit hole to go down. And the Amazon brushes-YES. So much better for that than my knock-off makeup blender brushes.

I am SO tempted by this stamp collection, it is cute and clever and seems really versatile. The price does add up (esp. for how much I’ll actually use them, if I’m being honest with myself) but it might be worth it for the fun of having these. I too wonder if they will make more stencils for them…
