I don’t know what happened to the post I typed out 7 hours ago. Oh well.
We had a lovely day with all the kids and grandkids over. After lunch we got outcries lip n slide and sat in the yard while the kids played.
I am almost done packing. I leave tomorrow for a business trip to NOLA. Excited to eat some great meals. Have dinner reservations for Commanders Palace.
I have some great memories from camping when I was growing up. My parents took us all over the country. DH and I have been toying around with the idea of getting a motor home when we retire in a few years. Right now, I’m content with the four star hotels.

karenlou: Gotta say that I’m glad my retirement isn’t anything like yours! You’re working like crazy! Had an interesting conversation with grandboy #2 this afternoon. He’s 6 years old. He told me that he wanted to be a Pet Store Owner. Im not sure where that came from as we’ve never heard that from him before. I don’t even know if he’s been inside a pet store!

stormsts, Commanders Palace was delicious. It's been a few decades, but one of the best meals I've had on a vacation.

I'm enjoying hearing about camping. I grew up camping with my father and brother. My father would always make us dig a trench around the tent for Southern California just in case of rain.😂 As a young adult, I would camp on Catalina island in a group sometimes with a tent sometimes without. One time camping on the beach in my sleeping bag. I woke up and saw a buffalo within a foot of my sleeping bag. Next year I came back with a tent and at night the wild pigs would be around it.
My husband and I did some camping but not a lot. When DS was a Cub Scout DH asked me to join on the camp out. My only stipulation was there had to be a working bathroom. Apparently it went out of order right before I was due to come up so he booked me a hotel nearby. 😁 I'm done camping now.
Today I had a restful day and we made salmon, roasted squash from the garden and a pasta dish using up the last of last years tomatoes roasted with garlic. My tomato plants are just starting to turn red. Had a couple today. Yum!

I missed all the camping talk this week. I love camping! We have an older 5th wheel trailer that we like to go out in. Last year we were too busy with our covid cancellation trips to use it, and this year we're only getting to go for one week. End of July we are heading to Letchworth State Park in upstate NY which I'm really looking forward to. I love camping! Usually we take our kayaks with us but the river there is too rough for kayaking so just hiking & biking. Our 5th wheel is not huge, only 30' but has most of the comforts of home - but the ac is on the fritz so it will just be fans this year. I'm ok with that, not a huge fan of a/c anyway. It's an electrical issue so not sure if we will get it fixed anytime soon. We've only had this 5th wheel for a handful of years, before that we had an even older travel trailer that didn't have any popouts and had no shower in it. I'm so happy not to have to use the campsite showers anymore! I do have to admit that parking it on the site makes me very nervous though. I'm always afraid of damaging the truck or hitting something with the trailer. And I'm not the one driving it! Because we didn't use it last year I have a fair bit of cleanup ahead of me next week to get it ready to go, but it's not too bad. We'll do most of our groceries when we get there because there's too many rules about taking food across the border. And groceries in the US are cheaper anyway! Plus I love all the varieties of things you guys have that we don't.

But I'm just chasing Jeremy. And we like a lot of togetherness and the slow life. He is truly my person.
This is lovely ...

Unfortunately we are in Australia - that is big enough for us to travel. Mind you there are home parts of America that I would love to visit - just simply from descriptions I have read about.
