I’m so happy that the move has been a good one for you and your family and that you have been able to spend this extra time with your brother. I’m sorry to read that his prognosis isn’t good but it is a good thing that he’s able to be surrounded by loved ones. I’m so glad that you’ve popped back in with an update, you’ve definitely been missed around here!

Thank you for taking the time to update us, but no need to apologize, you’ve been very busy.
the time we are able to spend with our loved ones, as well as helping support their caregivers is an absolute treasure. There’s a couple lines in the movie Marvin’s Room, where a woman who had dedicated her life to caring for her ill father mentioned the love that had nourished her. The person she spoke with misunderstood and said, yes of course, her father must have loved her very much for her devotion and care. She looks at him surprised, and says no, it was that I loved him.
I’ll never forget how I felt when I saw that, because I had recently went through caring for my mother, who died too young. And it was so true. Every thing I had been able to do for her during her life was a balm to my soul in my grief.

@katebee, I'm thrilled to hear you are thriving in California. That's wonderful.
I'm happy to hear that you have had another year with your dear brother. He's truly a miracle man and a warrior. My DH made it nearly 15 years with mRCC, so I know how grueling it is. It's the loving support he's received that have kept him going, I am sure!

Living with family as adults can be fraught, as we all know, but few people know how very beautiful it can be when it does work. I am so, so happy for you and for your DB and SIL that you have each other's love and support as you walk together through this important time. adding...have you had a chance to catch a concert at the Bowl? I swear that place is magical on a warm summer night <3
I see Ziggy Marley will be there in August, if you are so inclined I highly recommend getting out and grooving to some great music under the stars.
If you sit high up enough and it's a clear night you can see the ocean and the moon reflecting on it. The best concert I ever went to was Sade back in the 90s. Pure magic.
