OMG the capybara set is terrible! I agree, they look like random brown lumps - wombats? guinea pigs? who knows? I agree that the sentiments are awful, and I'm pretty forgiving of bad puns. And this BS: "This super sweet and on trend 4x6 inch (12 piece) clear stamp set has brought the trend of real-life capybaras to life and ready for the holidays!" The trend of real life capybaras? what?! I did recently see/meet a capybara IRL for the first time. He was some kind of mascot for a movie production company, doing promotional work/eating grapes in the lobby of the movie theater during a film festival. I was surprised, I had no idea they were so big, but he was quite appealing - he snuffled my hand! Very soft snuffles. Capybara at the movies! by jo.blackford, on Flickr I actually never heard of or seen one of these before. Ever. Do they walk around like a dog? I'd kind of be afraid of it because I know nothing about it. I would think it might bite me with sharp tiny teeth. Thanks for sharing that photo. I probably would not have googled it. It did walk around like a dog! I think it had learned some tricks like standing up on its back legs to beg for treats too. It seemed gentle, and I think the teeth are more like beavers. Yup, I googled and they have a pair of big buck teeth and they eat water plants and grasses. I think they hang out on the edges of rivers in South America.

Thanks joblackford, Now I am sad if this is a "trend". People ruin everything for some animals

We’re halfway through September and I shockingly have not bought a single collab! The Avery Elle today is more of the same kind of seen it before sentiment set that I’m not interested in. I loved Mama Elephant last year and would have bought the capybara set but those sentiments were dreadful. There are only one or two brands that I can see myself buying from but I really think my wallet is safe this year!

If the Altenew had been layering stamps or had a layering stencil I would have hit buy immediately.

I feel that the Altenew image is too "leafy". The leaves are too prominent in that stamp image. Also, I noticed that more recently, nothing is selling out. They better keep that free shipping!

The Altenew stamp is pretty but I already have floral stamps.

I would say that if the super-leafy Altenew floral had a less “girly” flower, it could be good for more masculine cards.

I didn’t think it was too leafy. If you look at other rose stamp sets they all have a lot of leaves too and rose bushes are leaf heavy.

I'm still safe, too. I haven't bought anything yet - the only thing I've loved is the C&9 poinsettia but I have a bunch of poinsettia sets already.
I do want to take advantage of the discounted (for Canadians) shipping, so I might buy some Idea-ology stuff.

So capybara are really popular in Japan. They’ve been introduced to nature parks and zoos all over Japan, possibly because they like to bathe in hot springs, or maybe because they are very chill animals that often happily co-exist with ducks and other birds. There’s programs at zoos, and channels on YouTube to watch the capys eating various seasonal foods, like watermelons in summer and pumpkins in the fall. There is even a gift shop for “Capybara-San” in Tokyo station. The stuffies there look just like brown lumps lol. Also, Walmart had capybara on their school supplies this summer: “Have a Capy Day!” I bought some folders So I can see Mama Elephant adding Capybara stamps. They already do stamps w ramen, lunar new year, bubble tea etc. However, those sentiments are really awkward! And there’s more Christmas Capys in their regular line. Stamptember has been a puzzle so far. One more thing: have you seen the price for the Tim Holtz set? $50! Have his Stamptember sets come with stencils or anything before?

buteo, thanks for sharing that about Japan. and One more thing: have you seen the price for the Tim Holtz set? $50! Have his Stamptember sets come with stencils or anything before? I actually had not noticed that the prices are shown for the items not released yet. I imagine it might only be stamps and dies. If it included stencils they would be charging at least another $20! I mean Concord & 9th was $45 with only stamps and dies (6x8).

Yea, this link: www.simonsaysstamp.com/collections/stamptember-exclusive-collaborations lets you see what companies are coming and the prices. Most have a stamp set for one price and stamps and dies for another. But TH (way at the bottom) just has “exclusive set.” Very curious!

Halloween Card Kit today is a pass. I never buy it, but usually the demo cards are pretty neat. This year it's an easy "no".

I have an irrational hatred of all things TH, so SSS kits are always a pass for me. I kind of like the stencils. Maybe if some other Stamptember thing grabs me I'll consider tossing tose in too.

Glad I haven't been tempted to buy anything. But I do enjoy seeing a new stamp set everyday and the creations everyone makes.
I agree, $70 for that Halloween card kit is nuts. I do like the mummy image but nah. I laughed at the description, the $70 card kit also includes 1 black envelope, 1 white envelope, 1 sheet of white cardstock...lol.

That always makes me irrationally furious! If they’re only going to give me one of each I’d rather they didn’t bother at all. Especially white cardstock. Why even include it if you’re not giving people enough to make a handful of cards? I haven’t looked at the kit because it’s always overpriced and overhyped. I’ve only seen this example which I though was pretty cool, but not something I would make. http://instagram.com/p/CxUcJYHRscK

I love the ghost from Brutus Monroe. Some of the cards are cute.
But what is the deal with cupcakes? Spellbinders Large die of the month kit for September is seasonal cupcakes, and you can get add ons for seasons other than Halloween. There are some cute examples. And IMO they are cuter than BM. No stamps, just all dies. Better price.
But then I go back to...cupcakes??

Yes to the ghost. And the card kit stencil. NO cupcakes.

I emailed about my Festive flowers order as I already got an order from two days later and they said that they were just packaging the C9 set for shipping. Maybe it was delayed getting to them.

Yeah, cupcakes...don't get me wrong, I love cupcakes. I have even been known to paraphrase Ben Franklin and say that "Cupcakes are God's way of telling us he loves us and wants us to be happy even when we can't have beer." But all these cupcake-themed cards are not actual cupcakes: ceci n'est pas une tasse-gateau....
