This guy is so worthless. It’s NOW time to talk to her about her ability to do the job? They should have had that conversation months ago and provided any needed accommodations.
And that comment to you about her medical complications- he’s a worthless and a dick.

I think he's placating you and telling you what he thinks you want to hear. Though hand slapping you for her flakiness and incompetence is just wrong. Clearly, he's afraid to do anything about the situation and thinks you believe that he's actively trying to resolve this. I really really really hope you get this new job. This is way out of line and extremely unprofessional on their part.

I do feel terrible for her. That's why I was hesitant for a long while to do anything. I just didn't like the fact that I was letting them know what was going on with the project and I felt like he hand slapped me. Have you filed the complaint yet? If not, I'd do it ASAP. |

He told me that he had a talk with his boss and they have decided that it is time to have serious discussions with my coworker about her ability to do the job. OMG, my jaw just hit the floor. The serious discussions should have happened last year. I would love to be a fly on the wall the day you leave for good and watch the boss realize he screwed up big time. What a nightmare. |

The same sort of thing happened to my sister. Colleague not doing her job as too “sick” etc. So many excuses. Sister put in formal complaints etc as she had to pick up the slack, nothing was ever done. Sister ended up getting a new job and leaving - she has a great position and loves her new workplace. Through the grapevine from ex colleagues she knows problem colleague still does no work, actually filed a lawsuit against the company stating they put her under too much mental anguish. For asking her to do the job she was employed to do. Literally the tasks on the job description. Oh yeah, and couldn’t give my sister a pay rise but replaced her with TWO people. jeremysgirl The only solution I can see is for you to leave and go somewhere else, they are using you like a cheating partner - “I promise it will be different this time, I’ve really changed, it’s not me it’s you, we’ve talked about this and you just need to be better or more tolerant…” 🤬 |

Man, it just keeps getting worse and worse for you. How much PTO do you have? If you have enough time, I'd put in your two weeks notice and vacation out. During those two weeks, you apply for anything and everything. Get some temp jobs. I'm really hoping you get the job you interviewed for, but you need to proactive and take anything right now. Your health and peace of mind depend on it. They are using you and they don't care. They just want to cover their collective asses for how they are handling this business with your coworker, meanwhile putting the entire workload on you. They are bending over backwards for her, but doing nothing for you. I get that their hands are tied right now, but to not get you help during this time is wrong. It's been six months. All this stress is going to have YOU out with an illness.
Oh, and if the other place calls you and offers you the job this week? Take it and ask if you can start next week. Forget the 2 week notice unless you have PTO you can use to vacation out. They don't deserve two weeks notice. Good luck. Thinking about you and sending prayers.

This is where I stand right now. I feel like I'm being lied to, manipulated. He even tells me constantly what a "rockstar" I am and all I hear is, don't leave us, don't leave us, don't leave us. I feel like I'm being gaslighted constantly. I am glad that you took the day off sick. I would have been so upset and angry. I was so upset. All weekend I was pissed about this. I was so angry on Friday that I purposely rescheduled a meeting I had set for Monday because I was pretty confident that after such a busy weekend, I would feel mentally exhausted after stewing on this all weekend leading up until Monday. She came back late October 2022 and I registered my first complaint in January 2023. She has not been reliable or working up to par for any of the time I have worked with her. None of it. I don't know how she was prior to me taking this job two years ago, but her performance has been a mess in the year and a half since she's been back from having her stroke. How much PTO do you have? It's funny because Jeremy's response when I told him Friday about the handslapping was, what happens if something happens to you? He said, I feel like they aren't even treating you like you are a person. |

If this woman is as ill as she is making out to be, then she needs to be put on medical leave (and she can probably get short or long term disability and 2/3 of her pay). Then they can bring in a temp to help fill the role she is not doing.
I really hope you hear about the job you interviewed for!!

I find the whole 'bending over backwards' due to her illness perplexing, since you have (had?) some accommodations in place to deal with your own issues. Even with those in place, you still managed to do the work of two people. It seems unlikely that they would retaliate, but once you back people into corners there is no guarantee what they can/will do so it's good to be prepared. I hope that you find some peace once you file the complaint and that your job search is fruitful quickly. Will be thinking of you this week. |

Even with those in place, you still managed to do the work of two people. The only accommodation I have ever had is flexible schedule. And with that said, 90% of the time, I work 7-3:30. Even on days when I have medical appointments and such, I tend to work enough at outside times to work a 40 hour week. I did take an FMLA in 2019 for 2.5 weeks to do an outpatient mental health program. I was having so much trouble with my head, I couldn't even add 3-digit numbers together. I was stripped of all my meds and rerouted in that 2.5 weeks. And then I did intermittent FMLA when Esther died for 6 months at the discretion of my psychiatrist. In that six months, I took 17 days worth of FMLA total while doing a new job and the job of 2 people. I have needed time off which is true. Sometimes, I have a really unstable day and I use my earned sick leave. But I'm totally not a slouch of an employee. Most people would never know I even have a mental illness because I present no differently than the average employee. |

However, I do know that it wasn't cooperative work environment between current coworker and the one who I replaced. I know that because I've talked with the former director who was in place before my boss. |

I get it, you don't want to risk your job, especially since you are the primary breadwinner. I just think your complaint might kill two birds with one stone - your coworker AND your supervisor. If I recall correctly, your big boss had indicated issues with your current boss, and this may be the final piece to get him taken care of. I also would think your company IT department would do a search for emails related to the complaint - and they may be able to get evidence of the times she has deleted/altered your work in the past.
