I'm in NY, so they aren't allowed to use plastic bags.
Walmart Pickup - not bagged at all. when I use them, I put a few bins in my trunk and they move from their bins to my bins Wegmans Pickup - Normal paper bags ALDI pickup - the thinnest paper bags known to man. They have paper handles, but they're just decorative and will rip unless you're bag contains only cheese puffs. Target Pickup - Paper bags with nice handles. I actually save these ones. The others get recycled.

I have 2 laundry baskets in my trunk and I just tell them to put all items in those. So happy not to have all the plastic bags!

Ours come in paper bags from our grocery store. They will also take any plastic bags you wish to have recycled, just leave them in your trunk.
Single use plastic bags are not banned here, but they were for a while. Our grocery and some other stores never went back to using plastic bags as the norm, although the grocery does have them available for things like meat or sushi or something.
I'm one that doesn't mind some plastic bags since I have 3 cats. Pre-banning, I would take my own reusable bags most of the time, and then occasionally have one trip where I'd stock up on the plastic bags. Now if I don't bring my own, they use paper bags, which I do NOT need more of. It's kind of a weird juggling act!

I pick up from HEB and they use plastic bags. I do keep some of them because I use them to clean out the kitty litter. I leave the extras in the car and they recycle them the next time I go. When I go inside the store, I use my own bags.

I pick up from HEB. When I remember, I can put in the order notes to use paper bags instead of plastic. When they do that, we re-use/recycle them at home. When I forget, I bundle the plastic bags up and leave them in the back of my car and the store recycles them when I pick up my next order. This is us as well. Sometimes we get paper as requested, sometimes we don’t. Sometimes they take the bags to recycle when we pick up our next order, sometimes they don’t.

I have a stockpile of thin plastic bags that I use for cat litter duty.

My county in MD was one of the first to ban all plastic bags. Not only in grocery stores but retail stores as well. Everywhere they use paper (including the grocery stores). I don't do grocery pickup (dh does all the shopping) because they usually don't pick the freshest produce and I'm not wasting money on crap that will get thrown out and I don't want to pay the higher fees. The surrounding counties for a long time still allowed plastic bags and once I took my reusables to Target in one of those counties. The cashier looked at me like I had 2 heads. She said that I couldn't use my own bag. Um.... yes I can and you will fill them.
She put one or two items in each bag. I stood there are condensed everything she did. I used 1 bag and she had taken about 7 of my bags to fill.

Walmart we still get the plastic bags. We either reuse them for trash or give them to flea market to use.
Kroger uses paper bags. They get composted.

Someday I’ll motivate myself to go back to shopping in store and bring my reusable bags, but today is not that day.

Our Walmart has an option when you place your pick order to indicate that you’re bringing your own reusable bags and they bag them at the car. Aldi bags at the car as they never provide bags. Kroger will bag at the car but doesn’t have an option to pick that on the order, you have to put it as a special instruction. Sometimes the Kroger employees will see the special instruction sometimes not.
