My mum, dd's and their boyfriends and my girlfriend are all coming over this afternoon and evening for Christmas Eve. We will enjoy Scrabble, appetizers and dessert ... then gifts and cards ... some with cash and some with gift cards! This is what I posted on Facebook: What are your plans for the day and evening? It is getting to evening here. This morning we went to our regular Sunday church, then came home and had our main meal for lunch. In about an hour, we’ll head of back to church for the Christmas Vigil Mass. it starts at 8pm, but we have 30minutes of carols beforehand. If we want a decent seat, we need to be there before carols start! Once we are home from church, we’ll call our kids and grandkids in Australia - it should be about 8am their time when we get back. Sophia was bouncing out of her skin with excitement when I spoke to her on Friday, so I can only imagine what she’ll be like this evening. I did get some good news today - the package I sent to DS with presents for the girls has FINALLY arrived in Australia. It was scanned at Sydney airport at 3:15pm Christmas Eve, so they won’t get it until at least Wednesday, but at least it’s in the right country. I was starting to get worried after 3 weeks of no tracking updates.
Our lunch today was fairly typical Bavarian Christmas time fare - bratwurst. Instead of the traditional potato salad we had pasta with a cheese sauce and vegetables. Dinner will be sandwiches and whatever Christmas goodies people bring to our after Mass get together.

Merry Christmas Eve. I have a confession to make. I have never seen ELF. It's on Hulu. I should watch it. Last night yds and I were watching the funniest stand up comic on Netflix. I cannot remember his name, but he's inappropriate, rude and hilarious. Enjoy your day w/your family leannec . How is your girlfriend doing? Have fun and I hope you win at Scrabble.
sueg, we posted at the same time. Sophia will love her 2nd Christmas when Oma's presents arrive on Wednesday. Ods might come home later today. He had a few students w/bad colds, so he is staying away until the last minute. Dh made pizza dough and tonight he'll make pizzas. I'm guessing that yds and dh will spend the day watching football. Everything is done on my end for tmw. Somehow I managed to eek out Christmas this year. Enjoy your Sunday/Monday or Christmas eve, whichever you prefer. Merry Christmas AussieMeg .

Merry Christmas Eve!
it's been crazy around here. My mom ended up having surgery on her head wound yesterday but it went well and she's recovering just fine. Not sure when she's going to get out of the hospital because she was originally admitted for high potassium levels but since she was already in, they decided to operate on her head rather than waiting.
I just finished my wrapping and I've got a pasta salad to make for tonight. We'll go to church and then over to my sisters for dinner which will be soups and salads.
Hope everyone has a peaceful fun day!

We are having leftover Thai food and are very happy about it. We have not done Christmas Eve at MILs since 2019 due mainly to Covid. We finally got her to officially change her celebration to a different day beginning this year so we were actually able to plan to do our own thing for the first time.

scrapmaven I have seen elf but I have a love/hate thing with Will Ferrell. Never to the hate part but I have to be in right mood to watch him. Last night wasn't it as I considered it then clicked away. Lol Kids are coming "when the bread is done baking" and then dinner and all day will be a free for all with too much food because of the party COVID downsizing. Looking forward to it. Easier "hosting" when it's just us cuz basically don't have to. Eldest and partner may stay overnight as last year they met a (probable) DUI in6 the off ramp near home heading right at them, going wrong way, head-on. College town and holidays, lots of drinking and driving... Weather is weird for Wisconsin, supposed to be in the upper 50s, I think. No white Christmas here. Have the happiest of holidays all!

scrapmaven, I just discovered Elf a few years ago myself, and I love it. Cringey, but sweet, too. Zoe Whatever totally steals the show. I am currently sitting in my car in the Whole Foods parking lot while sister is inside shopping. Usually I go in, too, but I really don’t need anything now. We make an early-AM run every year on Christmas Eve to pick up things at various places over the bridge. Our Xmas-AM bagels are safely stashed in the back of the car already. Dinner will be rechauffe rice and beans, and there’s still some Thai food, too.

Tonight is dinner at my cousins. We will have the feast of the seven fishes. I’ll probably only eat some shrimp, some scallops, and maybe some haddock. Not a fan of calamari or tilapia.(his daughter’s favorite )

Good afternoon everybody. I know today will probably be busy for most of us with only a quick check in. Such is the case for me.
I'm just about to put a lasagna together. Jeremy's family will be here at 3 today. I have a lot of work to do in the next three hours.
Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas!

tanya2 odd that they scheduled a test over Christmas. The classes do keep you busy and that's likely helping right now. I'm glad that your stepson is taking steps to reconnect w/you. Out of bad comes some good? Does he keep in touch w/his siblings or are they step siblings? Do whatever you need or want to do right now. You've handled your grief beautifully, but there isn't a right or wrong way to grieve. Just be in the moment and allow other people to give you support and ((((HUGS))).

The 3 of us just got back from our walk. The guys will mainly be watching football today which is good for me. I will make 3 of our sides so all I have to do tomorrow is bake my pecan pie and add the pecan topping to my sweet potatoes. The Honeybaked Ham just comes out of the refrigerator to place the slices we need on a platter to come to room temp. Easy peasy. Anyone who followed my problem with Etsy knows that I got reimbursed for the 9ers sweatshirt for DS that never arrived. It arrived yesterday so I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to pay for it again. Finally was told since the guy no longer sells on Etsy, I can keep it and don't have to pay anything. Dinner tonight is our traditional gumbo feast! Already made the other night. Merry Christmas Eve to all who celebrate!

My mum is a shark! ... and Emma is very competitive! I have a confession to make. I have never seen ELF. It's on Hulu. I should watch it. Next to Christmas Vacation it is my fav Christmas movie! You have to see Will Farrell in "Blades of Glory" ... sooooo funny!

Happy Christmas Eve! It's a rainy, gloomy day which is perfect for wrapping gifts, baking pies and sewing. Fortunately we don't need to run out for anything. It feels odd not to have anything last minute to do, which makes me feel like I'm forgetting something. We've decided that due to everything going around we will watch Christmas Eve services from home on the live stream. Unfortunately this year they are only live streaming the 3:30 pm service. I prefer the later one, but not much to do about that. Dinner will be at 6:00 pm. The crawfish etouffee is ready to go. I'll be making ice cream and baking the pecan pie as soon as DH gets done wrapping gifts on the kitchen island. I have been sequestered in my sewing room! I did discover a couple of small gifts for DH that I forgot to wrap so will do that this afternoon as well. scrapmaven - I am not a big Will Ferrell fan, but Elf is a good movie. Another one of Will Ferrell's Christmas movies that we resisted for a long time is Four Christmases. DD really pushed us to watch during the pandemic and now it's one of our favorite Christmas movies. So funny! If you want/need a good laugh or pick me up, check that one out. Wishing everyone who celebrates a peaceful Christmas Eve.

Just caught up on yesterdays thread scrapmaven I'm so sorry you were in the ER yesterday. Hope these next days are kind to you. KelleeM Covid! So sorry that C$&!/ has impacted your holiday. I hope it stays a light case and your kids don't get it. tanya2 and don thinking of you both cadoodlebug loved the wrapping meme. Yesterday we were together with family as my nieces and one of their husbands made massive meats pies for all the family to enjoy. I wished I had taken pictures. Very tasty but too rich for my system. Our little 1 year old grand nephew was home from Sweden and is adorable toddling around. He loved Finn who kissed his hand every time he raised it to him. Tonight I'm makes apricot brandied Cornish game hen with corn bread stuffing (also with apricot brandy) and butternut squash.

Merry Christmas Eve!
It's a quiet day here. It is in the mid 50's so I took aclong walk. Made a few things for tomorrow and now going to sit for a bit and watch football.
YDS and my in-laws will come over for dinner tonight. It will be very low key. A few rechauffe things from last nights dinner and I will make ham and cheese sliders.

Compared to most of you, my day is very quiet. We aren’t doing any celebrations until Boxing Day so today and tomorrow are very chill for us.
Last night I went to my nephews for a family gathering. DH stayed home to heal his back. The last time we gathered together was for my nieces funeral and then my MILs funeral. It was wonderful to get together for an occasion other than a funeral. My nephew smoked beef brisket and it was amazing. My niece packed up a care package for DH so that will be supper tonight.
Tomorrow will just be DH and my mom. I’m not planning a fancy dinner because I’ll be cooking turkey on Boxing Day. DH suggested we have hotdogs tomorrow for supper!
I wish you all a wonderful Christmas Eve and may Santa be very good to you all!

I am not a big Will Ferrell fan, but Elf is a good movie. This is how I feel. And Bob Newhart is a bonus! My sentiments as well! I want to watch Elf but couldn’t find it yesterday. I don’t know if dd still has Hulu. All of my family tested negative this morning…hooray! Dd and dgd have gone to her bf’s parents for the afternoon / evening. He will spend the night here and we’ll all mask for gift time tomorrow morning. I’m making a casserole for breakfast and dd is baking Trader Joe’s cinnamon rolls. I drove ds to the grocery store (masked) and he picked up what we need for the next few days. He’s grilling steak tips for dinner and we’ll have salad and fries. I need to cook the bacon for the breakfast casserole and shrimp for the kids to take to karenlou ‘s tomorrow. I’m giving ds instructions on how to make the Yorkshire pudding in the nice new pans I bought. I hope someone takes lots of pictures for my Covid Christmas scrapbook pages!

Merry Christmas Eve to those who celebrate and (( hugs )) to all who need them. We're going to a restaurant for dinner, which we've never done on a holiday before. It'll be something different and fun. Then I hope to start our puzzle tonight for Christmas Eve fun. Please do not be jealous of my very glamorous, exciting life. Last night I had a few difficult grieving moments, and I'm gonna try and not dwell on missing Dad and nephew. I also refuse to be sad about not being with our families anymore---I've done enough crying and I'm done! My dear brother (the one who lost his son) went on a multi-state trip, then onto a cruise to the Bahamas. I'm glad that he did something FUN for his son's birthday and Christmas! scrapmaven ...I LOL'd at when you said " DO IT. DO IT." about doing puzzles! . I assume you were quoting that line from Ben Stiller in the movie "Mod Squad". One of my friend's DH's used to say that ALL. THE. TIME. , mimicing Ben Stiller perfectly and it cracked us up! Then he taught his cute little son to say it all. the. time. This comedian is SO. FUNNY! His *physical* movements make us ROFL !!!! He has several specials on Netflix. Sometimes I'll be on youtube and just watch a few clips. During quarantine, he did lots of youtube vids with his wife, and I noticed his actual Italian accent isn't as strong IRL. The way he accencuates his accent for his Netflix specials makes him even funnier! ( I've always been fascinated by different accents!)

I got back a little while ago after driving to KelleeM's to drop off gifts....We will open them together tomorrow via ZOOM...Not the usual Christmas...However at least we can Zoom. I am making my very first cheesecake...requested by my DS using her recipe , of course....If her children test negative tomorrow, they will be here for dinner...and take food and cheesecake home for kelleeM. It will be different for sure, but necessary under the circumstances.
I worked 11p to 3a last night, and really only go 1.5 hours sleep so our plans to attend the 11pm candlelight service at First Baptist are probably not going to happen😕 I am a bit disappointed however at this point I won't be awake at 9pm let alone 11.
DF who comes to share Christmas breakfast with us is down for the count with the flu, so DH will be cooking for me....all good. We will catch up with Laurie next sunday for breakfast and gift exchange... I don't want any "buggie " people here...we have managed to avoid flu and covid thus far and I want to keep it that way
Dinner will be tunafish sandwiches...DH's request..so tuna it is. We did debate the options and he ultimately decided on tuna and chips. Easy for me.
Merry Christmas, dinner tribe friends....Love and Blessings in the New Year💕

Merry Christmas lovely Pea friends! It's just after 7:45am Christmas morning here. I'm having a coffee and Peaing, while waiting for the kids to get here.
Dinner last night was some KFC sliders and chips, only because we were driving past at dinnertime and DSO suggested it.
I hope you're all well rested and well prepared for Christmas Day. It's too late for me haha, so I just have to cross my fingers and hope I haven't forgotten anything!

I just got off work and still feeling under the weather. Hubby sounds worse then yesterday when I got home so it looks like we are staying home for Christmas Eve. We're suppose to go to my brother's house tomorrow but I just let him know that if we are still feeling this bad we will have to cancel.
For dinner we are having chicken soup that I picked up on my way home.
