This is more than just a football game to the city of Detroit. If you havent lived here for any length of time, it's hard to explain.
So, I very much want the Lions to win, because it would be a HUGE deal for reasons that go beyond football. The Chiefs and 49ers have been in many playoff hunts in the past 5 plus years, so Im ready for a change.

Sorry Lions fans, I want and hope the Lions lose big.
And here’s why. I’ve about had it with all the hate being thrown at Brock Purdy. That poor kid can’t do anything right as far as these haters go. It’s so bad that at one of the press interviews after the game Purdy came out wearing a baseball cap backwards. Like millions of men in this country do. And he was criticized by some sports commentator for doing that.
Every little thing that kid does is criticized. Yes, he has a couple of bad games! What player hasn’t. Yes he is surrounded by a good or some say very good offensive players. But the 49ers wouldn’t have the record they have if Purdy wasn’t holding up his end.
When you actually watch the kid play you can see he is good and will get better with experience. Just like the other young quarterbacks currently in the NFL but who aren’t getting the intensity of criticism Purdy is getting.
So yes, I want the 49ers to go all the way and then maybe the Purdy haters will shut up.
Of I could have jinxed them by saying this.

What do the Lions have to do with other people criticizing Brock Purdy? The coverage Ive seen about him has been very, very positive about how he went from Mr Irrelevant to a Super Bowl worthy QB. There is a difference between hoping your team does well and wins big and wanting the other team to lose big for a reason that has nothing to do with the team.

That someone else being the Lions? We all have our own reasons why we want our teams to win. Now that I have ponder it a bit, a better way of saying it would be I want the 49ers to win and win big. As far as Brock Purdy criticism … Just before the playoffs started an ex executive of the Raiders said on a pod cast there are 7 great quarterbacks and Brock Purdy. After the 49ers - Green Bay the criticism was so bad members of the 49ers team stepped in and shot critics down verbally. Yes he had a bad game up until the last drive where he did something that has not been done for sometime. It seems if the 49ers were behind in the 4th quarter they lost. What Purdy did in the 4th quarter was take them down the field where CMC got the touchdown that won the game. After a not so great performance early on he did what he needed to do so the team could win. Did he credit for it? Nope just criticism. One critic I saw this past week wondered if he was the weak link. So I’m not sure why you think he’s not getting any criticism because he is. And I think the only to shut up that criticism is for the 49ers to win and win big. But I probably jinxed them by saying this.

linkPredictions of who will win are starting to pop up. First one is from Sam Farmer… “The Times’ NFL writer, Sam Farmer, examines this week’s matchups. Lines according to FanDuel Sportsbook (O/U = over/under). Last week’s record 3-1 (.750). Overall for playoffs, 6-4 (.600). Using point spreads with the scores Farmer predicted, the record against the spread last week would have been 0-4. Overall, 4-6 (.400). TV channels are for Los Angeles area. All times Pacific. No. 3 Kansas City at No. 1 BaltimoreWhat do the Chiefs need to do: Run the ball and stick with it. Stay patient with the game plan and avoid riskier plays that can lead to turnovers. Baltimore's defense feasts on that. Kansas City has done a great job lately of playing zone defense and keeping eyes on the quarterback, forcing teams to throw underneath. Try to stop the run. Chris Jones needs to have a big day bringing pressure. What the Ravens need to do: The best way to counter Patrick Mahomes is to bring pressure, which Baltimore has done effectively all season. Let Lamar Jackson be himself. Let him play loose. If he needs to run a lot, he'll have an extra week before the Super Bowl to recover. Try to get a big play over the top of the Kansas City defense, which won't be easy, or a long run after catch. Sustain drives. The pick: Baltimore is a really tough place on visitors, and the Chiefs have had to play very difficult back-to-back road games. The Ravens have beaten an NFL-record 11 teams with winning records. They are beyond battle-tested. RAVENS 28, CHIEFS 23
No. 3 Detroit at No. 1 San Francisco
What the Lions need to do: In recent weeks, teams have had success running outside the tackles against San Francisco. Throw the ball outside the numbers and away from cornerback Charvarius Ward. Run the ball to give Jared Goff a little more time and keep the play-action game going. If Goff is clean and untouched, his numbers tend to be outstanding. Crank up that pass rush and hope it makes up for shortcomings in the secondary. What the 49ers need to do: Defense has to hit home with that high-dollar front four. Goff is not the same quarterback when he's under heavy pressure. Offensively, if Deebo Samuel is limited, put the game on Christian McCaffrey's shoulders. The weather figures to be better than that rainy game against Green Bay, and Brock Purdy should be sharper. Take advantage of that suspect Detroit pass defense. The pick: The 49ers probably will stop the run and produce some turnovers. San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan is going to be the difference with his ability to draw up effective schemes. If San Francisco can even use Samuel as a decoy, that creates issues. 49ERS 30, LIONS 24

I saw on TT that the NFL has assigned a ref that is known to give more calls against the home team than any other ref, like 30% more or something, for the Ravens/Chiefs game. My husband and son hate the Ravens, so I will root for Taylor's boyfriend's team I would love to see the Lions go to the SB since they never have been.

Rep Debbie Dingell made a bet with Nancy Pelosi…
”How about a friendly bet @speakerpelosi? The @lions have played with determination all season and I know they'll advance to the Super Bowl tomorrow. But if the Niners do win, I'll send you @sanderscandy, some of the best chocolate in the country, made here in Michigan. #AllGrit ”
Nancy’s response….
“Game on!
Our @49ers have played dazzling, dynamic, determined and dominant football all season – and no doubt we’ll take down the Lions tomorrow.
But if somehow we don’t, I’ll send you some San Francisco delicacies: See’s Candies and Ghirardelli chocolates.”

Chiefs 17 Ravens 10
49ers 34 Lions. 31
The Peas are 50/50. Right about the Ravens, wrong about the 49ers.
I was surprised to see the Ravens lose.
So now it’s the 49ers vs the Chiefs

Last poll is up for Niners vs Chiefs
I’m going with the “bang bang Niner gang”
Some football analyst said if the 49ers are healthy they can kick the crap out of any team. Which they apparently are.
They also showed in the 2 playoff games they can come from behind. I understand that 17 point deficit was one of the largest that a team has been successful in overcoming. So they don’t quit and Brock Purdy remains calm and focused when behind.
Go Niners.

I’ve heard Brock Purdy called the “silent assassin “ from a couple of different talking heads for a lack of a better term.
Silent assassin. I like that. 😀

I am just so tired of Patrick and his wife and especially his brother. And my faux boyfriend was traded from my team (Panthers) to the 49ers, and I wish him well. And nothing against Taylor at all.
So go 49ers!

I think the chiefs will win bc the QB is much more experienced, but I will be rooting for the niners!
