I asked the Peas this same question years ago.
DD had a Christmas wedding, and a Pea suggested Christmas crackers. The DJ instructed everyone to pop them open at the same time. Guests had fun with the toys and jokes, a great ice breaker. We've got great pics of the wedding party in paper crowns.
I'm also a fan of late night food offerings at weddings. At DD's, we served pizza, hamburger sliders, and cookies with milk.

As a wedding guest, I love the photo booth idea! We did it for my DDs wedding and I've been to 2 other weddings with one, and those pictures are still up at home and work (family members and friends in the pic with me). One of our favorite photos was taken in a photo booth at a wedding. The just married couple told us it was their favorite photo of all those taken. We used it as part of our Christmas photo greeting that year. It still makes me laugh. (The glasses were DH's idea!)

I read an article about a couple who made jars of strawberry jam as their favors. The tag they attached said something like, "Thanks for being a part of our sweet day" or something like that. I thought it was cute. They used tiny canning jars that maybe hold 1/3 cup of jam? I wonder if you can buy the tiny jars of jam Bonne Maman puts in their advent calendars? They'd be the perfect size. *Just checked. You can purchase them on Amazon for $47.00 for 60 small jars.

Attended a wedding last fall and my DH and I received a “ movie date” in a cellophane gift bag with curly ribbons. There was a note from the bride and groom thanking us for attending the wedding and to enjoy movie time on them! The bags contained a package of microwave popcorn and junior size bars of candy that you might find at a movie theater.

My DD is getting married next year and has been considering favours too. One idea she's seen is the give everyone a disposable camera. Also eco friendly ideas are popular I think - little packets of seeds for everyone to go and scatter. We've seen alcoholic lolly pops, little votive candles and recently we were given a champagne glass with the date and the couples initials on. I picked up about 25 little paper butterflies at our local second hand craft store last fall. I was going to use them on a scrapbook page, but then realized they were recycled paper with seeds in them to plant. Our deer will have a heyday with them, but hope they will provide some color. As a flower lover, this would be my ideal wedding favor.

My daughter got married in October. They had a Photo Booth, and asked their guests to paste one of the pictures into their guest book and sign it. It made for a really special memento for the bride and groom. At the end of the wedding, they brought out a hot pretzel cart (DD’s dog is named Pretzel).

One of the DGDs got married in October. Their wedding favours were small, 50 ml bottles of pure maple syrup, personalized with their names on the label. I'm pretty sure no one left theirs behind! This is awesome!

The best wedding I have ever been to was the one which had pretzels over an open fire grill along with a gelato station. The perfect end to a perfect night.

For our son’s wedding we had a local donut truck on site. Everyone got a fresh bag of mini donuts or a donut parfait as they left or late at the reception.

I vote for something edible as well. Nobody needs more clutter. I would be fine with no favors as well.

We went to an engagement party last weekend and the favors were containers of white tictacs with the packaging replaced with the names of the bride and groom (I think the names/logo were printed on a sticker). I liked the favor, and they will definitely be used!

I think that wedding favours are out of favour (ha!) these days. They're just another unnecessary expense. However, I would LOVE to receive a little bottle of gramasue 's maple syrup or aprilfay21 's jalapeño jelly or LiLi 's soap! I've seen where people arrange for Krispy Kreme trucks to arrive at the end of the reception. One of DSO's friends booked an ice-cream truck to arrive at the church after the ceremony and before the reception, as it was a hot day. I think that was our reward for having to sit through a very long Catholic service!
