First off - if you really hate scents, this probably isn't the thread for you! I LOVE having great smelling Laundry and have gone down the path of fun and great smelling Laundry soaps/beads/softeners. I still keep a jug of Liquid Persil for my go-to dirty job laundry. Can't beat that! And, Yes! I have bought a box of the imported German Persil washing powder, and it was very good! But a HUGE box lasted me a couple years! But I love finding Laundry soap that smells pretty. I find that I gravitate to the more masculine scents. My collection is bordering on "Rae Dunn" obsession. It started with Distinctive Washing Powder, from England. Oh it smells SO good! I have the Opulence of Amber scent. I have tried a few of the Zum scents. Stoneworks pods, Tyler Candle Co. (meh - wasn't in love with those). I have the latest Laundry Sauce scent, Italian Bergamont, on the way. I am excited for that. I love the Laundry Sauce products, but yikes, they are spendy. I have used them as gifts and get great feedback on that. I tell myself I don't drink and I don't smoke - so I can have a few vices!

I'm either or. If it smells good, great. If it's a clean/perfume free, also good. I buy what's on sale and I have a good coupon for. Haven't gotten into the scent beads. Do you through them in when you put the clothes and the detergent in?

We have been sent free for over 10 years but I have started dipping my toes back into some light fragrances. I really like the Frey detergent sheets. The fragrance is faint after drying so if you like a strong fragrance to linger it might not be for you. But it is enough to be noticeable to my sensitive nose without triggering a headache.

The last thing I want to smell is a perfume-y scent- whether in detergent, lotion, perfume, sprays, candles, whatever.

To me the entire purpose of doing laundry is to make sure nothing smells.
Just perfectly, cleanly, beautifully neutral clothes and linens.

That smell lasts a long time if the clothes are just in the closet. I've been scent free for years, scent is one of my migraine triggers.

I like the Kirkland brand (orange container) from Costco. Its smells fresh without being overpowering and cleans better than Persil IMO.

We use lavender scented detergent sheets (clearlif brand) that leave only a trace of scent. I like them.

I would imagine that farm life would have me reaching for some better scents too!
I’m a Mrs Meyer’s fan for scents. Orange Blossom for the kitchen hand soap, lilac for the bathroom scents, and honeysuckle for the dish soap. The scent is there when I use them but I don’t feel like it’s overpowering when I’m out in the world. And ys, the German Persil is way better than the US version!

I loved the Persil Pearls or whatever was available in the US. Thought about purchasing the powder off of Amazon.
We use Gain with the Febreeze. Not sure it exists at this point. Haven’t been to the store for a few months. As such, we have been using what is in the house…Tide. DH is breaking out, yet he still hasn’t made it a point to buy Gain when he is at Walmart.
Long COVID has done wonders for eliminating the product stocked.

I’m another unscented laundry person. We used to just use regular Tide or whatever but once we determined that the dyes and scents were making DD break out in a nasty rash, that was it for us. Other than maybe hand soap, no more scented anything that will touch DD’s body or go in her bed. After so many years of unscented everything, pretty much anything heavily scented will give me a headache now so I really avoid all of that stuff.
On a related note, DD and I went shopping in a consignment store last fall and the whole place just REEKED of overly scented laundry products. It was overwhelming. 🤮 The few things we bought from there still smelled even after being washed a dozen or more times in unscented detergent with white vinegar in the rinse cycle. Like with anything perfumed, people who use them regularly do get nose blind to those scents and probably don’t realize just how strong they actually are.

Environmental allergens (especially tree pollen) does me right in.

We use fragrance free for most laundry, but I liked the previous version of Kirkland's lavender detergent for bedding. The updated version isn't nearly as nice. I sometimes use the Dreft scent beads for sheets now.

My DDs notice they were more sensitive to scents after being in a scent free home. Thrift stores smell like laundry aisles and you can't get the smell out. Yes people get nose blind because everything you use has scent and they can't hardly smell it but those of use who are sensitive sure can.

I would imagine that farm life would have me reaching for some better scents too! You know it! Phew! I’m a Mrs Meyer’s fan for scents I like Mrs. Meyers too! I can’t do that either. Environmental allergens (especially tree pollen) does me right in. I do love line dried laundry, especially sheets! I have a nice clothesline, but have limited times I can use it. DS had terrible allergies, mostly grass pollens (corn! yea.._) So I stayed away from line drying when he lived here. And a great deal of the summer I have terrible fly issues. The neighbors have cattle and hogs and do not use any fly control that I know of. If they do - it doesn't work well! LOL Our livestock are not right here at our home place, but we do use measures to control flies, by putting an additive in their feed that kills fly eggs in the manure. Makes a BIG difference.

I love hanging my laundry outside on my clothes lines. But, it comes with issues for me too, iowgirl. My backyard borders 4 neighbors. If one of these 4 cut their lawn, The grass clippings love to stick to my wet clothes. So it’s always a gamble.

I sometimes use the Dreft scent beads for sheets now. I use a scented and unscented also. My clothing is washed in unscented because I don’t want anything competing with my very faint spritz of perfume. I use unscented lotions for the same reason with the exception of the lotion that is by the same perfume manufacturer that I like. But I use scented laundry soap for sheets and blankets because I love a nice scent when I pull back the covers to climb into bed at night or grab a throw blanket to curl up on the couch to read.

I use Persil detergent. For stains (like on cloth napkins or cleaning rags), I’ll do a pre soak in oxiclean. No fabric softeners, scent beads, or dryer sheets. I do have wool balls in my dryer..
For those who like their bed linens to small nice, have you tried linen sprays? I use those when changing the sheets or occasionally just to freshen a bed. I love botanically scented ones.

I love line dried sheets!
Lately, I’m enjoying a custom scent of Buff City Soap detergent. Clean Cotton + Beast
Persil is my second favorite but I miss Wisk.

I use Persil but for bad stains, especially those that I didn't notice and threw the clothing in the dryer, I use a little Dawn dishwashing liquid with a toothbrush. I'm amazed at the stains I thought would never come out but they do!

I picked up a bar of soap for hand washing in the Canary Islands last month (Omino Bianco brand). I think the fragrance (Cuore de Marsella) is more masculine but, I really don't smell it after line drying.

use Persil but for bad stains, I switched to Persil from Tide a couple years ago. I am so pleased at how will it handles stains and just general dirty laundry. My MIL was having some issues with her skin getting itchy and I told her I had switched to Persil. She was using Tide and had been forever. The Persil helped her itchy skin out too.

Tide makes my husband break out, we use Purex. I always throw in a scooop of powdered oxyclean, and some purex crystals. I like the lavender smelling ones.

I'm here because I LOVE scents! Especially lovely smelling laundry, there is nothing better in my opinion!
I had such a miserable time a few years back post COVID when I'd temporarily lost my sense of smell, scent is really important to me and I'm so relieved my sense of smell came back, it was really worrying for a while that it ever would.
DH's work clothes get oily smelling so his clothes get their own load on the deep clean setting (hot and extra long wash). I used to use the orange Kirkland detergent but it wasn't clean smelling enough for me so I was buying the scent beads to add. Now I'm on to Tide with Oxyclean and that smells better so I'm not using the scent beads anymore.
For the rest of the laundry I am sort of bouncing around right now. I do love the Downey scents, the nice perfumey ones for things like the bedding and yes, our towels. I like soft sweet smelling towels and I don't notice a difference in absorbency so meh. I don't use them all the time for fear of build up or whatever.
I would rather use a scented detergent though so I'm going to going to keep looking, I've never heard of the brands you use, going to have to check them out!
For kitchen towels and anything I use in the kitchen I use non scented laundry soap I get at Trader Joes as I don't like perfumes on anything food related.

I love light scents. My favorite is the Diva Glamerous Wash (but I use just a little, mixed with non scented Tide). I also love the Blue Volcano Wash.
