No I didn't see Aurora Australis, although on Sunday morning my Facebook feed was filled with photos from various friends who had seen it. I didn't even realise that it was going to be visible for us, otherwise I may have made an effort. I also had no idea they would be visible for us. I think I read somewhere they are still meant to be visible this weekend as well.

Ahhhh, finally some quiet in my home and maybe some energy to actually go and create. In-laws on their way back to their apartment with DH. With how I've been feeling it has been really hard to have 2 more people in our home, 83 & 84 and their small yappy dog. So much noise in the house yesterday from the TV on etc made my IBS worse this morning.
It's not all bad though, new planters especially for this home, three hanging baskets--two in the summer for the upstairs and fuchsias for outside my craft room under the deck in the shade. I finally live in a state I can grow fuchsias. Planted three pots of wave petunias as well as a hibiscus tree and a dahlia.
We've been enjoying the hummingbirds return and just got an oriole feeder--it has been very popular with at least 8 pairs visiting this morning.
What kind of birds are in your part of the woods?

angel97701 - glad you have some peace and quiet birds? I see hawks and owls regularly in the yard, hummingbirds, cardinals, mourning doves, blue jays, sparrows, wrens, grackels...probably others I don't recognise. Robins migrate through. There's plenty of wild turkeys. at the nearby ponds I see herons and egrets usually

Anyone do anything scrappy this weekend? I put together a 3 layout page kit from SG. Haven't figured out pictures for them yet, but it felt good to play. And it won't take long to finish them up. I need to figure out my points. I haven't been doing a very good job of keeping track so far this month.

joyfulnana - I haven't scrapped since Friday evening. I've been working in the yard and sorting/labelling photos. Glad you were able to do a layout kit

We've been enjoying the hummingbirds return and just got an oriole feeder--it has been very popular with at least 8 pairs visiting this morning. What kind of birds are in your part of the woods? Crashing your thread again Our area is very thin on cool birds. I heard that NJ is the best bird watching state and Washington is one of the worst. When we traveled to Olympic National Park a few years back the ONLY birds we saw on the whole trip were robins! So weird. It's a bird desert here. We have all the basics like seagulls and crows, starlings and sparrows. I like the scrub jays, which we see more than the Stellars Jays, which I learned are not the same thing as blue jays even though most people call them blue jays. We have little ground feeding juncos twittering around in our yard a lot, parents feeding their baby. I'm pretty sure the nest was in my neighbor's driveway wall or under her eaves. My other neighbors have hummingbird feeders but I just keep my garden full of flowers they like, so we see them year round - even in January they have food when the rosemary blooms. We do see a lot of red tailed hawks on the freeway edges, and I almost forgot that we see bald eagles on the daily at times! That's pretty cool. I love it when the seagulls and crows fight the eagles in midair. And there's a major cormorant breeding ground under a bridge nearby, and a population of peregrine falcons and ospreys too! We're at an interesting intersection of urban, rural, and marine. I was going to ask who is being deafened by cicadas? My friend in Illinois is sending me daily updates. She got landed on yesterday, and has curtailed outdoor walks. I miss the sound of normal cicadas in the summer. In NZ they were lovely (as long as they didn't land on you!)

Crashing your thread again no worries - you (anyone) is always welcome I was going to ask who is being deafened by cicadas? Florida isn't getting the big 2024 cicada inundation - we're outside of the range for periodic cicadas. We do have annual ones but not in that sort of quantity

I guess WA does have cicadas but they're all annual ones and it looks like they might be found more in the north-eastern part of the state. Everyone is talking about the other cicadas and the other Washington so my search results aren't very helpful.

No cicadas here in Northern Minnesota. But still loving watching our hummingbirds (have three feeders spread out on the deck rails) and it looks like we have one resident oriole pair. Eagles every day, and swans swimming in their respective quiet spaces. We have three different pairs we see regularly. The loons are much quieter now, we believe they are nesting right now, so not as much vocalization. I didn't mention we have Pilated Woodpeckers, plus a few more in the area. We have true Blue Birds here too, and Cardinals. More birds than what I saw in Oregon. There is was Red Tailed hawks, Eagles, Golden Eagles, and California Quail that were regular visitors along with our year round hummingbirds.
Finish my chores then to the craft room I go . . .

My youngest has really gotten into bird watching lately so funny you all brought it up! Each day after we go out to take care of the animals we go on a walk through our paths to find birds. His favorite is finding a matching pair of mommies and daddies.
I’ve been working on the different classes I’ve taken lately. Just about finished up with all three but still have bits and pieces to do. I took the Pinkfresh scrapbooking, crop and create and then the simple stories fresh air album class. They were all good but now I’ve been eyeing new supplies to make card which I hadn’t before.
I did get to go to a scrapbook store IRL yesterday after an appointment. It’s about an hour away so that was fun and tad overwhelming! It had a good selection though not complete collections which I found odd. So she had all the papers as single sheets but not necessarily any stickers sheets or other embellishments. So though I bought some things I’ll need to order the other things I want online. For those that have stores nearby is that normal?

No cidada invasion here, we are outside of the line for the broods to meet. I'm really glad because those things just creep me out lol.
I've been thinking about what I want to finish in the coming months, and I'm going to focus on my childhood album and then knitting blankets. I have 1 1/4 blankets left before Christmas. I need to get cracking on that lol.
I'm planning to hit Joann for some adhesive and to check out their sale this weekend. I haven't decided if I want to drive to the LSS about 45 minutes from me. She closes at 2PM on Saturdays and that seems so strange to me. And the other LSS in my area is closed all weekend for the holiday. Local stores make it hard for people that work 8-5 to shop there. I also have no need whatsoever to be shopping for scrap supplies lol.

Linda I did not. I am not a person that gets out early in the day. By the time I was ready to go shop, there wasn't time to make it. That's ok, I don't need anything lol. I picked up some cardstock at Joann and was hoping they would have the new American Crafts things out but they weren't. Lots of empty hooks, but no product. This whole month has gotten away from me. DS 2 has a birthday the 6th and it was not on my radar at all. I'm usually thinking about birthdays at least two weeks ahead of lol. Maybe it's getting older lol. No scrapping really. I'm having a hard time deciding where to put my focus.

(((Hugs))) joyfulnana - I'm not much of a morning person either. And May sure did fly by! Thanks to mom hosting weekday crops, I'm back to scrapping and have almost finished March 2024 in my family album. DD17 is out of school for the summer so we've organised a bit of a weekly routine with family game night on Wednesdays and family (meaning DD and DH) movie night on Fridays. Tonight was Clue!

Happy JUNE team! Challenges are resetting and there's a new Donna challenge posted and of course, this week's sketchy Saturday. We're coming up on a double points weekend as well - next weekend I believe - i post details once grammadee confirms the dates. How is everyone doing? Is June a quiet month for you like it is for me with DD done with school and Girl Scouts winding down for the summer or is it a busy memory making month?
