At the movies, the guy next to me had the WORST BO EVER.....

Oh god, in either case, I would have moved or left and received a refund.

No time for that. The movies are my happy place, and I have a very sensitive sniffer.

The last two movies we saw in the theater, people who reeked of cigarette smoke sat right beside or in front of. At first I thought it was just me until I noticed other nearby patrons wrinkling their noses and looking around for the odor source. I don't understand how people cannot know that they smell foul!

Here is my BO story: DH has a long time friend who has the worst BO you can imagine. When he comes over to our house his smell gets stuck on our couch and I can't get rid of it for day. I always opened windows after he leaves even when it's snowing because its THAT bad! We were once at the grocery store down an aisle and we smelled bad BO and I said "my god it smells like "L" here" then we turn to the next aisle and see him standing there...evadently he was on previous aisle before we got there but his smell still lingered after he left!

Now I'm pretty sure this guy don't have anything medically wrong with him to smell this bad because he clearly said once he don't wear deodorant (because he don't like the smell of them) when we got him a shower gift set one year for Christmas (along with other stuff so it wasn't so obvious lol!). So it's just so bad being around him.

We went yesterday and sat in a front stadium seat, the seats next to us were for wheelchairs, so there was a metal bannister behind our heads. One guy behind us had his feet up on the bannister BAREFOOT!! WTH? it's winter! in MN? and you're barefoot at a movie?

All of the above is why I don't go to the movies at the theatre anymore. I like watching at home where I can rewind, take a potty break and not put up with the general public. Not to mention how much money is saved.

I despise movie theaters.


The experience of seeing a movie in a movie theatre stresses me out so much that it's not enjoyable at all.

Ugh that is frustrating. After a few shushes I think I would have gone to get a manager. I find most people are embarrassed by one reprimand lol, apparently these peeps felt entitled and needed to be brought down a peg haha!

Here is my problem with the irritators (is that a words? LOL) ... I don't want to have to move. I get to the theater early enough to be able to choose what seats I want. I have eye issues that dictate where I can sit to more easily see the movie without getting serious eye strain headaches. My pre-planning shouldn't get all messed up by people who wear too much perfume, not enough deodorant, talk to much, play on their phones, etc.

But I am old, and I am cranky and feel all entitled in my oldness to not want to deal with the irritators. LOL

So one of my newest accommodations is to go to the first movie of the day on Sunday. Even with new movies, this time of day/week generally seems to be sparsely attended. Or more often than not I just wait and watch at home to avoid all the issues of talkers, stinkers and phone users.  

Absolutely me!  I already can't stand sitting next to women with heavy , musky perfume but bad BO would send me over the edge for sure.  Iat'said move or refund for sure.

Yuck! That's so gross!

Thankfully, I haven't had the BO issue or the overly perfumed person, but I've had the "singer". 

When the Lion King was re-released, we took the kids to see it. Packed house, no where to go with a kid (??) who not only had memorized the ENTIRE script for all characters, but sang EVERY song with great gusto. He also "spoiled" the movie for my kids when he'd say "OH, no! This is where Simba's dad dies." and other such awesomeness! 

We now make it a habit to go on Thursdays to the early movie release at our Cinemark theatre. The place is practically empty! Maybe about five families total.

There have been other times we go during normal hours and we've run into a few annoying instances. The other day it was a group of three older women, one extremely loud and robust lady who did not fit in the seat. She was very uncomfortable and made everyone around her know it. My youngest had to go to the bathroom and she refused to let him pass. She ate loudly and slurped her soda through the entire show then left her huge box, cup and trash heaped in a pile we had to step over. She was worse than the five year old who refused to remain seated and kept hitting everyone in our row in the head. She was worse than the guy who kept putting his feet on the back of my chair pulling my hair.

One time we thought we'd be smart and sit in the very back row with no one behind us. We started hearing scurrying sounds and little screeches almost birdlike in the wall behind us. I suddenly realized it was rats! Lol! For some reason they were more tolerable than most of the people who've sat behind me though!

I would have moved. If that didn't work, I'd go talk to the box office.

We keep a bottle of Febreze behind the counter to spray when we get really stinky people in our windows (after they leave of course)! There are so many people who REEK like cigarettes, BO, or bad breath. Sometimes it is all I can do to quickly get through the transaction, trying to breathe as little as possible! I don't usually get bothered by perfume though.

I still remember 30 years ago being on line at a concert and the woman in front of me had the most disgusting hair I've ever seen/smelt. And we were on line for a couple of hours. I will just say that I saw... movement... in her hair. They were rasta braids and to this day, I have an involuntary gag reaction when I see them.
