This may or may not be something new, I've just noticed it recently ... when looking on my Pinterest page I keep seeing pins that instead of showing they were pinned by someone I follow it says "Picked for You." I am assuming they were chosen based on things that I regularly pin. The really ironic thing is a lot of these suggestions are things that I created and posted on Pinterest myself! Lol, so in essence Pinterest is telling me to pin my own work which I've already obviously done. Anyone else find this happening to them? Or am I the only narcissist who (overly) pins their own work?

What I see on the main page is "Picked for you" not "pinned for you" but my settings allow no one but me to actually add pins to my boards. I can then decide to pin them or not. It does show items I have pinned, but it also shows items pinned by others from categories of recent interest to me (based on my recent pin choices presumably). Pinterest apparently tries to be "helpful" in helping me find things to pin.

Happened to me too, not my own stuff but things I've already pinned. It is based on your past pins. I just got rid of them. If you click in the message box you can choose from 2 options, unpick the item or not have them pick at all

I don't like it. I wrote to Pinterest and they said they won't remove it until enough people complain. Clicking in the message temporarily gets rid of them. More come back the next time I open Pinterest.

I got one that was too on the nose the other day. It was for an appetizer I order when I go to one of my favorite Greek restaurants. I have never pinned anything about the appetizer or the restaurant, though I have pinned plenty about my state. I added this at the end of my repin: "How did Pinterest know to put this in my feed as a "Picked for you"? You're getting creepily specific, Pinterest."

A couple of things that might help you all.... 1st check your account settings on Pinterest. these pins are not only based on ones you pin, but websites you visit, things you search for. In your account settings ( from your home page, click on the little gear in the top right hand corner) Click on "account settings" a new window will open. Make sure under " account basics" that Personalization is set to "no" for both of them. This will cut down on the amount of pins you receive. You need to click on the yes to make it a no. My other suggestion is on your home feed, the pins that are "picked for you" have a little "i" in the bottom right hand corner of each pin. when you click on that, You have the option of giving the pin a Thumbs up or a Thumbs down. I noticed on my feed, the more Thumbs down I gave, the less "related" or "picked for me" pins I was receiving! I currently do not get ANY! So try that ladies... I hope it helps!

I resentfully admit that Pinterest has me pegged. They're sending me stuff that I quite like and have not seen elsewhere.
I hate feeling so predictable.

My settings are as you have suggested already. I don't have a little "I" in the bottom right, I have an 'x' which means either Hide this pin or Hide all pins inspired by your board.

RST I just noticed these showing up on my feed and I agree. I hate to admit it but most of them are ones I like. Some are ones I have pinned but not many. I have been repinning a few but I'm reluctant-I feel like if I do, they'll never stop picking for me. And there are more "picked for you" on my feed than pins from people I follow so it's not letting me see as many of those (unless I scroll forever).

I'm another Pinterest person who actually finds some great pins from the suggested ones ... they definitely have a way of narrowing your interests down which I guess is the whole point of the website

I've just gone in and clicked not to show any more pins inspired by each and every one of my boards. It seems to be working for now. When I filed a complaint about not being able to turn off "Picked for you" pins, the reply I got said that many people have complained but not enough to make Pinterest do anything about it yet.

I JUST posted on FB that I have no idea why Pinterest "picked this for me." Seriously - WTF Pinterest?

Here are some picked for you that they put on my page-apparently it's based on things I pin and not searches, because I haven't searched for any of this type of stuff recently (never for some of it): One bowl flourless chocolate cake Infinity scarf DIY using t shirts Brownie chocolate chip cheesecake Fabric bookmark tutorial vegetable garden soil prep Coconut sheet cake cat pencil toppers Retro overnight bag tutorial Feta-Stuffed Greek Meatballs with Lemon-Garlic Yogurt Sauce

Not a fan. I'm either not interested or appalled by 99% of what they pick for me. Most of them are as bad as Burning Feather's handpicked pants! I've spent a lot of time telling them to hide all the pins "inspired by" my whatever board, but the damn things still keep showing up. I've spent less time on Pinterest lately because of it. Guess it's time to complain, since they claim that not enough people have voiced an objection.

I didn't realize this practice was creepy. I always enjoy seeing what they picked for me.

I've loved most all they've picked for me, lol. I guess I'm one of the few. I hope they keep this feature or at least let those of you who don't enjoy it opt out.

I hate it. I want to see what my friends pin not what they suggest for me.

I am another who actually likes this feature and often ends up pinning some of the things they pick for me. I do not think that they have ever picked anything inappropriate based on my boards and interests.
I also enjoy looking at the suggested boards that they send to me. I often find things to pin from them, and sometimes end up following a new board.
I only pin things that are ideas I have seen and want to remember, not my own creations, so I have never had the issue of them picking something for me that I was the creator of or original pinner of.
I've also never had them suggest a pin that I already have.

I'm more often appalled and disturbed by the things my friends pin than I am by the "picked for you" things. Seriously -- I hope that some of pinning I see one friend do is generated by her toddler, or is butt-pinning on her phone and not an actual reflection of her interests and tastes.
I hope Pinterest makes it an optional feature that you can easily block. Some of us, in the ways that we use Pinterest, like it, others don't. It would make sense to keep the tool as flexible as possible to meet the needs of the majority of users.

I'm on Pinterest but don't don't have a board and get those 'suggestions' too. They are not things I look at when on Pinterest so don't get why I'm being sent to the sites. I now no longer check them out, I just delete the notice.

I've changed my mind. I hate the "picked for you" pins and if I see any I like, I will go to the website and pin from there so that Pinterest doesn't think I like it. The problem is this. Over half of my feed is "picked for you" pins. Bad enough but the same ones are repeated over and over. And I've started seeing many that I had pinned already.
Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any way to complain about them. I hate to shut them off completely because I have found a few that I liked but if I don't, that's all I will end up seeing.

I am so tired of having my feed filled with garbage I'm not interested in. I have complained and I hope other do to. I'll pin what I like, not what they suggest.

I actually like it! So far I have pinned all but two of their suggestions. I get ones for gf foods, sides, salads, soups, kids crafts, and holiday decor. Eta and scrapbooking. It has also led me to follow some new people

I liked it at first too, until I started seeing the same "picked for you" over and over. And stopped seeing a lot of pinners I follow because the "picked for you" is taking over my whole feed.

Is there a 'help' or 'contact us' button somewhere on Pinterest?? I know I've looked in the past and couldn't find one, but it's been a long while...
