Basically yes, back to front... but in an order for the most part (if it is me loading).. plates on one side bowls on the opposite... but yeah back to front. If anyone else in the family does it, I am lucky it gets IN the dishwasher sloppy, I have to rearrange so I can make sure it is fully loaded... and usually have to remove something that takes up 1/2 the dishwasher because no one wants to take five seconds to hand wash it... Yeah, prime example: a huge crockpot insert. Seriously?

It could be but my crockpot is SO old the insert doesn't come out.. it's made as one unit.. but as sure as sh*t.. it would be in there if there was a way!! HUGE spaghetti pot... a Tupperware bowl (set of 4 from the 80s) the biggest one is about as big as the bottom of the whole dishwasher... we usually use for popcorn. REALLY, you can't wash popcorn stuff out in the sink?

Not really, but however everyone puts them in there, I have to rearrange everything anyway. I'm just happy when the dishes get put in there at all. I am thrilled when anyone puts things in the dishwasher. I don't mind rearranging to get everything in and do have areas for each item that kind of maximize use. Our new dishwasher even has wine glass racks. My dad was a world class dishwasher loader and I learned from the best. A friend sat and watched him in fascination one day and told him when he was done that it had been like watching a game of chess. Very strategic and deliberate with every move. gillyp My kids stopped whining about what a big chore it was after I unloaded while talking to them after school one day and pointed out that it had taken me less than 5 minutes. They don't whine quite as much now.

On the top for cups, measuring cups, etc I do load back to front. On the bottom, things only fit in certain places so, no.

The bottom rack is set up to be loaded side to side but the top rack is loaded back to front. My dishwasher is always arranged perfectly because I live alone and I'm the only one loading it
