I have never heard of this either...and I have to admit, I am so glad that it wasn't on my radar when the boys were young. I would have worried at every sniffle. I am glad that you are able to get a handle on this so soon. If there was ever a question about it "taking a village to raise a child" this thread proves it.

WOW, have never heard of PANDAS. I hope you can get the answers you need soon. What a scary time for you.
Even though my sons are grown, I too like to read all the children posts, as I am a grandmother now.

So sorry you are going through this! I hope you get your specialist appts soon! Be an advocate and push where you can.
I have 2 things to add. First, I have recently bumped up against PANDAS myself. My DS has had a sudden onset of tics. PANDAS is a potential cause. Fortunately, it has not been accompanied by behavioral issues. My own research, as the tics started on a Friday night, educated me a bit about PANDAS and I know that it is not widely embraced by the medical community. However, when I got an appt for my ds, it was the first thing his pedi mentioned and we ruled out strep. Tics are not uncommon, especially in boys. It was much improved in a few days but he still has some and the mystery of it drives me crazy!!
The second thing I wanted to mention was a friend of my dd. They are in 4th grade, but her friend had a sudden behavioral change. It turned out that a boy in her class was very quietly tormenting her. He was saying things like if you tell on me, I will kill you or stab your mother. It took some time for her parents and teachers to figure this out because he wasn't hitting her it doing anything a teacher could see. She was so traumatized, they moved her to a different school.
I hate for you and your family that you are going through this! I hope you get to the bottom of it very very soon!!
