Speaking of measles, there are three new cases in Las Vegas. My nephew in Las Vegas has a 3 month old baby. Hope all the babies stay safe.

It started at Emeril's restaurant in the MGM Grand and it is up to five cases. As locals, they probably don't drag the baby to the casinos so hopefully no chance of contact.

Probably not. But hopefully it doesn't spread to other businesses where people do take babies.

I had to stop having a conversation with someone on FB when she pulled the God card. Vaccinations are not God made so therefore are bad. I just have no words for that. Funny how she had her kids in a hospital though which I'm sure was not made by God.

Well, you can either go the route that antibiotics are man-made, and I'll bet she uses those with her kids for step, ear infections, etc. Or, that G-d gave the physicians and researchers the wisdom to create these vaccines, so they are, in fact, G-d given. But, I'm guessing logic and consistency probably aren't her strong suits...

I would totally share it if it weren't for the numerous swear words... but other than that, it was cool.
I try not to judge people...but when it comes to vaccinations, I'm a judgey mcjudgerson. If your kid hasn't been vaxed, I don't want them around mine, and I don't think they should be allowed in public schools!

Not that I agree with her stance, nor the Theology, I'm just not clear

Yesterday, I was surprised my very conservative friend posted this link. I know we are talking about immunizations, but I've decided getting a flu shot will be a priority because I had the flu this year. I know it does not always work, but it's better than nothing. My friend got influenza that attacked her nervous and immune system. She went from being a marathon runner and in several volunteer positions to sitting in a recliner in a dark room for several weeks because the migraines were so severe. She's 9 months into this and she still struggles daily.

She's 9 months into this and she still struggles daily. I am surprised that the news hasn't talked more about this, but there is an outbreak of H1N1/Swine Flu in India that has caused over 100 deaths recently. This year's Flu Vaccine did a poor job of predicting the strains of Influenza A & B, but they DID also include H1N1 in it. So, if H1N1 travels over to us again, those who got this year's flu vaccine will have protection. We have gotten the yearly flu vaccine for all members of our family (dh and I have always gotten it), after the pediatrician told us not to worry about giving it to our 16 month old. The next month he had an allergic reaction to amoxicillin which resulted in acute kidney failure and a week's stay in a pediatric kidney unit at Stanford's Children's Hospital. The following month he came down with the flu, and he was soooo sick. Just a couple of weeks after getting out of the hospital. My heart broke for him and our pediatrician apologized profusely and changed his recommendations after that. Even an if you think your family is fairly healthy and therefore doesn't "need" a flu vaccine, a sudden or surprise illness can pop up leaving one of you compromised, and the flu could be devastating.

Everyone in my friend's family got the flu shot but her last year. She was in the best shape of her life and look what happened. I have a hard time making ME a priority and this was a wake up call.

I think there are great points in the video.
My favorite is how can anti vaxxers use any form of health care? If you can't trust your doctor about vaccines, which are considered to be a given at this point, how can you trust any other treatment or preventative recommendation from the doctor? Do they just go to the doctor and do the opposite of what the doctor recommends? Do they pick and choose which advice to follow based off of facebook and the local mom's guild?
I don't understand why anyone who is against vaccines would trust a doctor about anything else.

Great, GREAT video!
And we were at Disneyland with our then 2 month old for our cousin's debut as Elsa for the new Frozen attraction on Dec 18 - right smack in the middle of the outbreak there. Talk about hectic household when learning of it afterwards.
NOW there is a confirmed case at the middle school in my neighborhood and I'm to the point of just wanting to stay home with my 4 month old....not worth the risk...leary of being out & about in my neighborhood running errands.
