I picked up a bag of Candy Honeycomb imported from Australia at World Market and just tried a piece today - it was SO good! Why didn't I know about this confection before? Yum!

Someone introduced it to me in the 70s at the candy counter at the mall. These days it's usually in the bulk candy store in the mall and valincal I love that! You can get that candy bar at World Market too elaine. It's the best honeycomb I've sampled yet. ETA: There's no hard chewy sections in that candy bar that you sometimes find in the candy stores.

That is why I picked up the Aussie chocolate when I saw it, hoping it was similar. It was, only much better because of the thickness of the honeycomb - Scrumptious! I will have to see if any of the international candy places around here carry that Cadbury that you posted. My husband would be fighting me for that one. Eta: I see from @mytnice that World Market carries the bar too. It will. Be. Mine. No one tell my husband.

So funny to see this post -- I just read a blog post about honeycomb candy, and I'd never heard that term before. I only knew it as sponge toffee. Like Valincal, we love Crunchie bars. They are among the first to disappear out of the Hallowe'en bags!

The candy shops here sell it in big, thick chunks. I'd never seen it before moving to CA, but it's so, so good! Powell's Sweet Shop is where I buy it usually. I'm not sure if they have an online store, but they carry both milk and dark chocolate in-store.
I would be happy to send you some if you ever get a craving and can't find any. I think the Cadbury Crumble bar will be hard to find now that Cadbury (not Nestle labeled Cadbury, like the Easter candy) has been blocked from exporting to the US.

I actually prefer Violet Crumbles to Crunchies, the texture and consistency of the honeycomb is better IMO. I also love the big bags of plain honeycomb. I also make my own honeycomb sometimes.

We have a World Market right across the street. My husband just checked and they no longer carry it. But he's getting the Australian kind that elaine got.

Oh, dear lord, I love Violet Crumble. But for some reason, they stopped being imported here in any normal quantity a couple years ago. They are very difficult to find anymore. There's one shop around here that has them on occasion - but they are $7/ea!!! They used to be more like $1.50 before they stopped importing regularly.

Cadbury (not Nestle labeled Cadbury, like the Easter candy) has been blocked from exporting to the US. Why?! Why?! Why would they do that?! It's a complicated mess that I can't even begin to understand! I think Nestle (or Hershey?) bought the rights to sell products under the Cadbury name here in the states, but the stuff they sell isn't the same product or chocolate as the "real" Cadbury. It pales in comparison, IMHO. Real Cadbury products were still being exported to the US. Nestle (or Hershey, I really can't remember) basically said, "We own the rights to the Cadbury name here and you're cutting into our profits by continuing to sell products under the same name" and were able to block them from continuing to ship any of their stuff over. So the stores that sell Cadbury products that you'd normally find overseas aren't going to be able to replenish their stock anytime soon Again, that's just my take and I'm not the brightest when it comes to business law...stuff. But I do know Cadbury eggs and mini eggs aren't going to be affected.

Ok, you know the rules. Since we can't get it here, How do you make this? Please share the recipe. This is the recipe that I use. It doesn't turn out like the Violet Crumble honeycomb, but it's still good. Sometimes I make up a batch and mix it through vanilla icecream to make honeycomb icecream. HoneycombThis site (which uses the same recipe) explains how to tell when the toffee is cooked to the correct temperature if you don't have a candy thermometer: It's the shatter that matters

But I do know Cadbury eggs and mini eggs aren't going to be affected. It was Hersey that brought the law suit not Nestle. Nestle has nothing to do with Cadburys or Hershey. The law suit stopped one particular importer...." Lets Buy British" importing certain Cadburys chocolate that had a similar product ( and that is debatable) to what Hershey historically had a licence from Cadburys to produce in the US. They held the licence before Craft Foods bought out Cadburys a couple of years ago. There isn't a lawful ban on actually importing all of British Cadburys chocolate into the USA,it has just made it more difficult for businesses to stock it as their main importer was the " Lets Buy British" company. The lawsuit is only against L.B.B., or Let's Buy British Imports, to stop importing chocolate products that closely resemble alternatives from the American company. This includes Cadbury chocolates. If you look at some of the products they've compared, you'd ask your self how would they even think that the American public would be so stupid not to know the difference between the British products and the Hershey products. I think they're clutching at straws if that is the best they can come up with.
