Dawndoll and 1year-the Marillion you were used to in high school has only gotten better! While Kayleigh and Misplaced Childhood were good songs and a good album they were produced with the first singer who left the band pretty early on. If you are interested check out what they are up to these days and in the last 25 years. I so happy someone knows who I'm talking about! Debbie in MD. I hope this works - I haven't tried to quote anyone yet! I absolutely know who Marillion is - as a matter of fact, my daughter is named for one of their songs! Of all the other Kayleigh's we've met, and there have been a lot, only one other has been named for the song - we always ask None of the other Kayleigh's had ever even heard of it! So of course we would tell them to check out Marillion and the song. And DreamsOfNyssa, you are right - Tesla puts on an excellent show! I've seen them four times, and the Frank Hannon Band twice - also excellent!

I love all kinds of music. Im not a huge country music fan unless its old school stuff or Carrie Underwood. I love Bob Marley! I enjoy some rap and hip hop. I'm A firm believer the best time of music was the 80s so I enjoy mostly 80s. Love lots of rock and some metal. Some maybe not well know bands I enjoy would be... Afghan Whigs (seriously love them!) Everclear Dream Theater Adrenaline Mob Whinery Dogs Fuel Then the more well known stuff is ... Rob Zombie White Zombie lynyrd skynyrd Bush depeche mode marilyn manson Flo Rida TI Shinedown Papa Roach That's just some random off the top of my head..I really enjoy all kinds of music and can talk about it all day lol Gentlemen by Afghan Whigs was one of my most played CDs in high school (I graduated in '96). I still love it so much. In fact, I'm listening to it right now!

Let's get to know about each other's favourite music/band. If you have a band that is a little left field you would like to share, tell us a song we should listen to as well. Let's all broaden our musical horizons! My favourite band of all time is Pearl Jam. I have been lucky enough to see Pearl Jam 6 times and Eddie Vedder solo 5 times. I am also a HUGE fan of Australian bands. I was brought up on a huge range of genres by my music loving dad and my taste is still quite eclectic. So, what's your fave? Who is currently in your CD/record player? One of my favorites is Kate Miller-Heidke, from Australia. As much as I love her, I hate that she's from there because she's so far away - when she tours, she mainly just tours there! I want her to tour in the US - and often!

Yay, me too!! And Pearl Jam is probably my favorite non-Aussie band.
I also love Powderfinger. And..... one of my all time favorite albums is "Tea and Sympathy" by Bernard Fanning (lead singer of Powderfinger). It is more "folk rock" than "pub rock",so it may not necessarily appeal to you. If you haven't heard it, do yourself a favor! It is still on high rotation on my CD player and iPod even after nearly 10 years. The year it was released it won practically every ARIA award (Australian version of the Grammys).

I think that I have quite eclectic tastes too:
Aussie rock (especially from the 80s) - Cold Chisel, Hunters & Collectors, Midnight Oil, Powderfinger, Boom Crash Opera, Aussie Crawl, Pete Murray
Folk Rock - Weddings Parties Anything, The Waifs (who I saw for the first time last month even though they've been around for over 20 years)
Celtic Punk - Flogging Molly, The Pogues, Dropkick Murphys
Punk rock - Sex Pistols, Rancid, The Transplants
Rap - Macklemore, Nas (well, one of his songs anyway)
60's - The Beatles, The Animals, Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds, Janis Joplin
Blues - John Lee Hooker, Charlie Parr, Ray Charles
And as much as I claim not to like county music, I do love Glen Campbell, John Denver and Australian country singer John Williamson
I also have one classical album in my record collection by Richard Clayderman. I even went to see him in concert with my mum a million years ago.

Celtic Punk - Flogging Molly, The Pogues, Dropkick Murphys I love Flogging Molly. I use their song Float as my alarm tune. It's seriously the best way to wake up every day

Favorite band of all time is The Goo Goo Dolls. Seen them 4 times, met them twice. Seeing them next month and I hope to win a meet and greet again! U2, Pitbull, Kid Rock, Eminem, Luke Bryan, Nickelback, One Repbulic, Darius Rucker, Imagine Dragons, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Love music except heavy metal. An indie artist I really like is Summer Osborne. She's a friend of a friend and truly a nice, sincere, uplifting person. Her song, "As I Am" is one of my all time favorites. I was there when this video was shot, you see someone from the back wiping their face, that was me and I was crying. Such a powerful song to me. AS I AMWhat a powerful voice she has! Very pretty song.

My favourite band is Marillion. By far, without a doubt, Marillion. I love this band. I adore this band. They are true musicians. Sadly they are practically unheard of here in the USA-they are British. But they have a huge, deeply devoted fan following all over the world. Part of the reason they are unheard of is because years ago they turned their backs on the record companies so that they could make their music the way they wanted to-not to try to hit the top 40 chart. It really didn't matter. Since they started in 1982 with their first singer Fish (I prefer their second and current singer Steven Hogarth) who left the band after 3 albums in 1988. Steve Hogarth joined the band in 1989 and has been with them ever since. He is an amazing singer and song writer and the rest of the band are incredible musicians. They are still together, touring and producing albums. I've seen them live ever time they make it to the USA (about 6 or 7 times, can't remember). If you're curious check them out at youtube and look for "3 Minute Boy". That's a good intro song into their music but not their best by far. Listen to that one first. If you really want to know what they are about then listen to "The Invisible Man". Those are good songs to start with but listen to them all the way through please so you can hear how the songs develop. You can go to their website www.marillion.com and they will send you a free full length CD or you can download it if you are new to them, as an introduction to their music. Debbie in MD. My DH is a huge Marillion fan. We went to see them in concert a few years ago...That concert turned me into being a fan that night. It was amazing!

Speaking of Marillion... It he only song I know of theirs is Kayleigh, which I loved in high school. So much so that it stuck with me and when I was pregnant that is th name I had picked for a girl. I'd never heard of another Kayleigh and now I'm so thankful I had a boy! There are a million Kayleighs out there now. That's my favorite song by them!

Led Zeppelin Bad Company / Paul Rodgers Aerosmith Sammy Hagar Tesla Tesla puts on a good show. :-) Tesla does put on a good show. I saw them a few years ago at our outdoor Riverport Ampitheater (or whatever it's renamed to now )
The show was delayed as we all took cover from a torrential electrical rainstorm. Once the rain subsided, Tesla took the stage and rocked it. The rain had stopped, but there was lightning from the electrical storm coming on strong from every direction visible. It was the most awesome experience...like Nikola Tesla was there in spirit

Reading through this thread makes me so happy! I live in a very rural area in a teeny tiny town, and there are very, very few people here (other than dh) who would even know who most of my favorite bands/artists even are. Music has always been incredibly important to me, but unfortunately I often find myself feeling out of place.
So, when I stumbled upon this thread and read through everyone else's responses, I feel a sudden kinship with many of you. It's such a nice feeling! Also, I'd like to add to my list of favorites the following bands/artist Silversun Pickups M83 Dropkick Murphys Tegan and Sara Death Cab for Cutie The Postal Service Tracy Chapman Brandi Carlile Mirel Wagner and every hair band that you can possibly think of! Yay!!!

Wow! I'm so happy to see so many Peas know about my favourite band Marillion! Although Kayleigh is a great song, it was written a LONG time ago with their first singer. They've gone on as a band and really matured and produced some amazing music since then too-so if you liked that you might want to check them out now too. Here's a great song, "Your're Gone" on youtube-I don't know how to do the link but I'm going to try it should be under www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnbfDZDo7mA It's under Marillion You're Gone and then it says "From the Marbles on the Road, captured in London Feb. 2007. Steve Hogarth has been their lead singer since 1989 and in my opinion blows Fish (the guy who did Kaleigh) out of the water. Plus he's gorgeous to boot. He's got blue eyes, and dark hair. My favourite combination. I've met him twice and he's a sweetheart, very down to earth and genuine. Okay, I'll shut up now Who's the Pea that saw them in concert? Where did you see them? I usually see them in Washington DC or Baltimore. They are amazing in concert-of course. Debbie in MD.

Oh, I forgot to mention. Does anyone like Tori Amos? She's my favourite singer. Marillion is my favourite band, but Tori Amos is my favourite singer. I've loved her music since I first heard her when my sister introduced her CD "Little Earthquakes" to me back in 1992. We both love her music and have been to multiple concerts. Very talented lady. Did you know when she was just 5 years old she won a scholarship to the Peabody Institute of Music in Baltimore? Amazing!

I got to meet her once and had a quick 30 second conversation with her while she was signing a copy of her book (Comic Book Tattoo). I've seen her multiple times over the years and actually have tickets to see her in just a couple of weeks.

I'm so happy for you that you get to see her concert soon! I tried to get tickets through Ticketmaster (even had an advanced date code) but they have that stupid Visa Verified thing now and my card doesn't have that, so I wasn't able to get tickets this year. It's okay-the timing's not good this year. I'll catch her next time around. Good thing about Tori-she does tour a lot.

I love most all music, exception is country, don't care for that much. Right now I am in love with the Kongos! I love all their music, not just 1 song. I did just see KISS & Def Leppard in concert. Def Leppard still sounds great, KISS, not so much into their music, but they put on a great show!
