I realized that I sing several song lyrics WRONG and loud. On the Amazon Fire TV Music section, it scrolls the words... so to my dismay I have been singing a lot of 80"s rock songs wrong, especially "once bitten twice shy". Has anyone really listened to the words of some of the 80s rock band songs?? Whoa... My latest one. On Cars... Sheryl C.'s song, The opening line.... I didn't realize she said Budlight. I thought she said "but I'm not" Chevrolet.. Duh!!

As far as I am concerned, it is "there in the bathroom on the right" and not "there's a bad moon on the rise". Also, I swear Keith Urban is singing "take your cat and leave my sweater" and definitely not 'take your cap'. Who the heck says cap anyway! And apparently I was only one of many who swore Taylor Swift was singing about "lonely Starbucks lovers". I saw her accept an award last week on the iHeart Radio Awards and she mentioned that lyric and that it is really "got a long list of ex-lovers".  No! I thought it was take your cat and leave my sweater - and I always thought that was such a great line. Poop- I'm still singing it that way!&" My daughter thought the counting stars lyric was "sing in the river the lessons are learned" rather than SINK .  my dds have had a lot of classics, I'll remember when I hear some songs. |

I always though that Eric Clapton's Layla was called Lay Low. "You got me on my knees, lay low". Makes sense!!!! DH while singing in the car just makes up ridiculous lyrics to songs and just keeps singing mumbles if he knows the tune but not the lyrics. He's special.. |

Vegemite Sandwich in Down Under was Bite of My Sandwich to an ex
Machine Head by Bush was My Clean Head by one of my kids
And ny favorite was from Say, Say, Say one of my friends singing "don't play games with my erection" instead of "don't okay games with my affection".
I always thought it was take my cat too, but when that song came out I asked on the old peas board because my kids were saying cap and I was told by everyone it certainly was cap and I was basically an idiot for thinking it was cat! Glad to know now that others do hear cat!!!!

Ha ha, this is my DD to a T! The only time she hears popular radio music is when we're going somewhere in the car. It's kind of scary that she knows so many of the songs and sings along, loudly, and pretty much on key but sometimes with the totally wrong or made up words. In many cases, I just let her go on thinking that what she's singing is what the words are because if she sang the song with the right words at school she would probably get in trouble! I'm talking about you, Uptown Funk! On a somewhat related note, it drives me crazy to hear a song on the radio that sounds perfectly acceptable for my kid to hear so I buy it on iTunes only to discover that the mild swear words they must be bleeping for the radio aren't bleeped in the paid version! I avoid the songs with explicit content and buy clean versions if available, but sometimes something slips through with words I'd rather my kid not repeat at school.  Whoops! |
