I hope the Lunesta works well for you. The only side effect I had from that one was the taste of nickels in my mouth. Ambien worked quite well too but got me pregnant.!!!

I took them both and neither worked for me. They would put me to sleep but I would wake up after a few hours and not get back to sleep. If I took another one I would be like a zombie the next day. If I laid awake for the rest of the night I would be like a zombie the next day.
I have found that Formula 303 from my Chiropractor works great for me. IT puts me to sleep and when I wake up in the middle of the night I can go back to sleep after just a few minutes. I don't have to take another one. It is a natural relaxer and sleep aid.

I take 5mg of flexeril (1/2 of a 10mg tab). It's enough to relax me and put me to sleep. Flexeril is a muscle relaxer. Me, too. I always get a great night's sleep and never feel drugged the next day. I've been taking it for years.

Dh takes amitriptyline. It is actually an anti-depressant/nerve pain med. It can take up to an hour to kick in, but once it does, watch out. Dr has also recommended melatonin, which is OTC.
I have been friends with a man for almost 40 years. he went off ambien because of me. he had some of those episodes of activities while on it. Then one night I called him. he was extremely inappropriate. I said something to a friend of his and it got back to him. he called to confront me. he basically told me I was nuts and he knew why I was making up this stuff. And he told me he could not be my friend at this time. At one point I said to him, "that was an entirely different conversation on a different day". The conversation did not end well. That remark rolled around in his head a bit, so he checked his caller id. he had NO conscious recollection of the conversation at all. That is when he contacted the doctor and got on something else.

Because Benadryl was mentioned, I thought I would share that they are beginning to think there is some link between taking some OTC sleep aids (with the same active ingredient as Benadryl) on a regular basis and developing dementia. DH and I have used Benadryl nightly for a couple of years to help us sleep through the night (and DH also has allergies). My doctor told me it was safe. Last month I began to see articles about the dementia link, and we have almost weaned ourselfves completely off. We now take melatonin and *half* a Benadryl or Unisom. I hope to be completely off the OTC sleep aids soon. I am not sure if it is just another medical scare, but, all they had to say was 'possible link to dementia' and that was all I needed to hear. ? abcnews.go.com/Health/common-counter-medicines-linked-dementia-study/story?id=28555161Erin

Lunesta left the worst taste ever in my mouth. Ambien had me seeing pink zebra's .
I use Elavil and love it.

It was a great thing for me. I was shocked to find out since, according to what I remembered, I shouldn't have been. My husband and I have joked about starting to take it again in December when we try for child 2. Others have mentioned Flexeril. I've taken that too for sleep. It's too much (even half) for me.

I took Ambien for 10 years. The new scare was bad but what made me quit was finding out my ex had been videotaping me while asleep. Sometimes naked. Yeah, not good. Wish you the best.
