I used to have really great eyebrows. But with medical menopause came thinning hair. I'm now using products from Clinique to help fill and shape them. But the eyebrow pencil is about $13 and there's not a lot of it. I used up one pencil in less than a month and I don't use a lot or even wear makeup daily. So anyone have some eyebrow pencil recommendations?

I don't use pencils. Most people I see who do, look like they drew the golden arches on with a Sharpie. I use powder, and have for many years. I currently use Bare Minerals Brow Powder. Would you be open to a powder? You can have someone show you how to apply it properly at a Ulta or any makeup counter.

I've been using a powder from Clinique and it wasn't doing the job alone. So I started using the pencil with it but the stuff is way too expensive for how much product you actually get. So most definitely I am willing to try something else. I'll check out this product you speak of. I wonder if they make toupees for balding eyebrows?

I use Anastasia brow wiz. It is a thin pencil. I use light strokes to create my brow shape. Then I use their dip brow pomade (just recently starting using this) which creates a uniform clean sculpted brow.
Recently, a friend complemented me on my "perfect" brows. I have very little eyebrow left due to thyroid disease. My best tip is that less is more, a little product goes a long way.

I have a couple of good eyebrow pencils that weren't expensive, but I'm not at home right now to check the brandname. I think I got one at CVS. I have very dark brown hair (at least, the parts that aren't gray) and my biggest issue with filling in my brows is finding a pencil or powder that's more ashy, less red-brown. When using powder I think the most important thing is the brush - the bristles have to be very rigid. I have successfully used dark brown eyeshadow, as long as I use a good brow brush.

My DD has permanently lost the outer edge of her eyebrows from overplucking. She has used various pencils and powder, but she swears by the MAC one. It really lasts and looks very natural. The Este Lauder one was okay, but very, very soft, and half the pencil is a clear fixer which she didn't use. It was expensive and didn't last long. The MAC one is a reasonable price and she loves the no need to sharpen applicator.

They have a pencil now, and it's okay, I just have to get used to it, and the sales associate recommended one of powder eyeshadows to do the same as the powder, however they didn't a color that was similar to the one I used.

Anastasia Brow Wiz is very good and easy to use. Benefit makes three brow products that I like - Gimme Brows, Brow Zings, and Instant Brow Pencil. They are all easy to use and natural looking. I'd go to a Sephora or Ulta and try them all out and see what you like best.

Also I wanted to add, that when I was starting chemo, I attended a great work shop at the American Cancer Society called "Look Good Feel Better" and it explained alot about applying make-up and other beauty techniques during treatment. I thought the eyebrow techniques were really easy to follow. Thankfully, I didn't lose all of my eyebrows, they just got really thin. I did lose ALL but three (3!) eyelashes though. Here's the website, just click on eyebrows and there is a step by step as well as a video. Look Good Feel Better

Thank you all so much! I'll be Stateside next month and will be paying a visit to Sephora to try out some of the products you recommended. Thank you krispin41 for that video link. I'm getting ready to check it out now! And I totally feel ya on the medical menopause thing. Ugh. I can deal with most things, but the hotflashes are the worst!

Avon has a line of makeup pencils called glimmersticks. The brow definer pencil comes in three or four shades and you can usually catch them on sale for under $4. They go on easily, you don't have to sharpen them, they twist up, and you get pretty good mileage from each pencil.

I will second IT Cosmetics Brow Power. One universal color, lasts forever, and stays in place even in NC humidity.

Lancome makes a brow powder pencil that's really nice. It has a brush on one end. My current brow product is Benefit's Gimme Brow. I'm in love with it. It's like a mini mascara for the brows. It's super easy to use and looks natural.

Okay, I looked in my makeup drawer, in the eyebrow section. First of all, the Maybelline Define-A-Brow pencil (bright green with a brown lid) is the absolute worst. I'm so glad it was cheap, because it was I just could not make it work and finally threw it out. Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil also isn't great, the pencil is too hard and the color isn't dark enough.
The good ones: Milani Easybrow (CVS, pretty sure) is great, very soft and a perfect brown for me, Femme Couture (no idea, Ulta??) Perfect Arch soft powder brow pencil has good texture, Jordana Fabubrow (Walgreens, I think) has a good color, and NYX Auto Eyebrow pencil is also good.
I hope some of this helps, I really hate being self-conscious about my eyebrows.

I'll throw my two cents in! I use a MAC eyeshadow and if I need it, I'll use the MAC brow pencil but still use the eyebrow brush to "buff" it out. I just discovered Benefit's Gimme Brow and it keeps the hairs in place and also helps to make the brows look thicker if you have thin brows. Here's the link: HERE

I use the YBF pencil (used to be called Models prefer ). Even my daughter agrees it's the best eyebrow pencil available - and she's tried a few!

Smashbox Brow Tech To GoIt's a pencil, but not a pencil. The tip is triangular shaped so there's no chance of just drawing on lines, it's similar to the look you get from a powder.

I have half brows-thanks to my adrenal glands being stressed and being recently diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency. Thyroid issues don't help either. It's like they start where they normally do, but then end and taper off to nothing.
Anyway, I like my makeup to look as natural as possible-I hate that painted on, or marker look of a fake brow. I went into Ulta and asked for help. They weren't busy at the time and I got a lot of very friendly advise and they even did my brows for me to see if I liked how the product looked-it was amazing! It looked completely natural, but filled in and NORMAL.
The product was Anastasia brow powder duo and they highly recommended the Anastasia tool to use with it. I bought both-good tools make a huge difference. The right color makes a big difference too. Ask for help from either Sephora or Ulta on choosing the right color because it'll be a lot lighter than you think. Also go light, just a tiny bit at a time. It lasts a long time and that product is all I use.

Anastasia, for sure. I alternate between the powder duo and the pencil, depending on my makeup. I use the wax to "set" them.

I like this one because it is a pencil but also has a brush on the other end. I also like the neutral color. I have dark hair and very fair skin so I can't use a dark color or it looks unnatural. Thank you!
