I have to admit that I wasn't keen on the idea when dd wanted a pet rat for her birthday last fall. Ever since the 'Willard' and "Ben' movies of the 70s I have pretty much been anti-vermin. But it had been something she'd been consistent about wanting for several months, so I relented.
This is Mimzy. I have become a big fan, as it happens. Mimzy is sweet, gentle and affectionate. She doesn't eliminate outside of her cage. She knows her name and is very attached to dd. She is a hooded rat, has nice colouring, and did not grow as large as I had feared she would.
I snapped this quickly when dd had her out this afternoon, and am pleased with how it turned out.
