Wow, that is so exciting!! I wonder if the book is any good? I love a bit of Scottish fiction, it sounds like it could be a good read. How many copies are you going to buy??

Love that!
Does she get a copy of the photo? I ask because I'm a mom (and the picture is beautiful), a former/more digital scrapbooker(keep the photos!) and watcher of Antiques Roadshow (what a great story and something to pass down).

That is really neat!
Thanks for sharing the link to the photographer's facebook page, it linked back to flickr so I could see a larger and clearer version of the photo (and see your dd better). It's a great photo (I added it to my flickr faves).
Was the photo taken specifically to submit for the book cover? Was it just a concept the photographer had that coincidentally worked as a cover for the story and was submitted afterwards? Did someone approach the photographer about using the photo for a book cover? I am curious as to how it all came about. It does work well based on the description of the book (which sounds interesting).
Is modelling something your dd wants to get into as a full-time career?

Thanks for all the interest in DD photo, I knew as Peas you would be interested in some great photography.
DD is a theater major and has never modeled before. She was asked by a friend if she wanted to take part in the shoot. The photographer uses students from the university as models. which they do for free. In turn he gives them the proofs to use for their professional websites. If one of his photos is selected for a book cover he then sends the student a mock up of the cover to also use on their websites. Many of her friends have also had pics that were made into covers but some get so edited that it may be hard to tell who the model is.
Stephen usually starts with a concept before the shoot. DD first shoot was for her and her friend to portray sisters/friends/lovers. Her second shoot (no pics have been posted from this shoot yet) was in an old barn and in the woods, concept was fear, escape, alien abduction...no beauty shots, he wanted tension. He does use smoke bombs/smoke machines and he provides the costumes. You can see more of his work on his facebook page.
I do plan to purchase at least one copy of the book. Thankfully it is in English! It would be great if we could get the author to sign the book.

I'm gathering all her proofs that he sent her and want to make a layout for her album with her relating all the funny stories about what actually happened during the photo shoots. She loves posing for Stephen, they have so much fun. Please check out his site, he takes beautiful photos. I think that's a great idea for a layout. It must have been a neat experience. Thanks for sharing.

That is so cool! Love his work. I hope she gets a paper copy of the books and has him sign on the page that says who the cover artist is.

He has an idea for a photo and then sets up the photo shoot for it. Then he posts the photo on his website and it may get chosen for a book cover. I assumed that it would be the other way around.... the author/publisher asks him to take a specific photo for their book.
