I hope it's not broken! You're lucky. Here when there's a full moon (super moon) like tonight all the crazies come out and our ER is packed! That is one of the bonuses of Walter Reed : you have to have a military ID to be seen! It slows things down a little on full moons. LOL!

I hope you're on the mend soon. I'm surprised they're ok with you driving, but what do I know. That dog owes you some serious comfort! I have an automatic transmission in my minivan, so can drive one-handed (even though I shouldn't). The dog is laying next to me trying to lick the hospital smell off of me and make me feel better.

Ow!
My SO fell walking the dog one evening and he ended up smooshing his nose against the sidewalk. He tells me his sense of smell hasn't been the same since.
Fast healing thoughts going out to you!

I wasn't paying attention while walking the dog this evening and fell hands first off a curb. Doh! Left hand and wrist are swollen, not to mention killing me, so I drove myself to the Walter Reed ER while dh stayed home with the boys. I've made it through X-Ray already because the triage nurse sent me there first, but now is the long wait for the doctor. I am such a klutz! *UPDATE* Well, going on 1 am, CT scan showed that I broke a small bone in my wrist in several pieces. The doc consulted an ortho who told her to put me in a Velcro and steel splint thing and go to the ortho in 10 days. Joy. Waiting on my pain meds and then drive back to VA. I'm such a dork! Only I can manage a broken wrist while dog walking! Ouch!!! I can relate to that, it's the sort of thing I would do! Hope you were able to sleep and that you feel much better very soon.

Ouch! Hope it heals soon for you. Very often the " silly" falls do the most damage.

I bet you would find the majority of broken bones are from simply walking (stepping wrong, tripping, etc.). My brother broke his foot walking in a river when he was like 18--he just hit a rock wrong. Hope the pain meds kicked in for you and you got a good night's sleep!

Oh man! I was hoping for an update that said nothing was broken. I hope it's not so serious that it requires surgery or a super long recovery. Sending you hugs!

Thanks everyone! I made it home at 2 am. And then took my percoset. Made for weird dreams. It still till hurts like the dickens this morning, but hopefully it will feel better as the swelling goes down. My dog keeps getting on the couch next to me and licking my fingers and elbow - it is as if she knows. She still wants me to walk her today, though, silly girl! I'm taking the day off from dog falling, erm, dog walking.

so sorry you broke your wrist. I hope the swelling goes down relatively quickly, and that you can relax today. Maybe some tv?

so sorry you broke your wrist. I hope the swelling goes down relatively quickly, and that you can relax today. Maybe some tv? Thank you! I just napped and now turned on the World Cup. As soon as I get more of the Percoset out of my system, (it is making me nauseated), we will make a Target run to get the boys out of the house.

It was good that you went to the ER. With broken bones, especially small ones, it's best to get a diagnosis ASAP. If you go even a week or two without getting it taken care of, it's likely to need surgery. I know because I walked around with a mis-diagnosed pubic ramus for five months and my son had a mis-diagnosed wrist fracture for a couple of months before for we got orthopedic referrals. We both ended up needing surgery for our non-union fractures. From everything I read about my fracture, I would have been fine if I had just spent 6 weeks on crutches after it happened. Instead, urgent care said it was a groin pull and my PCP sent me to physical therapy. Neither did xrays. Can you tell I'm still bitter?
