Nope. There is no other possibility. Unless you park next to one of these

No. You are showing some individuality. As much as you can with a car anyway.
I am so tired of all cars looking the same.

I'm heading off to test drive this thing...it's either this or a slightly dented 2007 Ford Focus. *sigh* ETA: If I decide on the cruiser, I'm defintely getting one of these as well: Go TOTAL nerd!

Before we got married, my husband lived in a neighborhood with a neighbor who had a red PT Cruiser with flame decals and a vanity plate that said "SIZZLIN."
But seriously, the only thing worse than a PT Cruiser is a Chevy HHR.

Have you driven a PT Cruiser? I had one as a loaner after an accident once. The blind spots are terrible. I am just saying really check the blind spots. I couldn't see out the back window properly nor over my shoulders well. I turned my body to look and still missed cars. Just check your blind spots well, ok?

My DH used to drive a PT Cruiser. He had a long commute and it was great on mileage. The back seat also comes out, and so it will haul almost anything. We drove it until the wheels came off - almost literally. It was a great car.

I have a Chevy HHR, there is one plus to having the car, it gets excellent gas mileage. It was my car for awhile, but I gave it to my husband as he needed a commuter car and I drive a Minivan now

I drove one as a rental car a few years back and enjoyed it. There was space for everything and yet it was low to the ground. Me too - had it as a rental and thought it was so roomy and fun to drive. OP - get whatever you like makes sense for your needs Not sure why everyone thinks a PT Cruiser is so dorky? Not sure how dorky a car can be? Crocs- complete dork ville but a car is, well a car and if it's all one color (no replacement panels in anther color ) and it's mechanically sound and in budget - get what you like.

It is kind of a "mom" car, so at least the kids won't be fighting to drive it

Nope. There is no other possibility. Unless you park next to one of these In Atlanta, on the freeways, that car would be a scary ride with all the tractor trailers.

I don't feel safe in such a small vehicle and that close to the ground.

stormycat, we are a two HHR family! LOL Dh and I both drive grey HHRs. Mine is a 2010 pewter and his is a 2011 darker grey. The saddest thing about owning an HHR is that they don't make them anymore! The last dealer we bought one from said he has trouble keeping a used one on the lot. Couldn't get rid of them when they were new but it seems like there is a high demand for the used HHRs

I saw one driving around town here with 2 kids in the back. there seemed to be about 4" of car between the back of the children and the outside. I just couldn't stomach that.. it can't be that safe. no matter what ingenious fame safety features you have, any rear-end accident over 20mph seems like it would have that car sitting in your front seat, and anything in the backseat mowed down.

DH bought one of those blue PT's when they first came out in 2001. It was a novel little car. Now we have a Mini Cooper as the zippy car.

I got a used one a couple years ago from Carmax since my Odyssey was quickly dying on me. I hate it! I'm not a car snob by any stretch but my God, that thing drives me crazy! It was built for fleet cars, so everything is cheap.
The turning radius is incredibly bad for such a small car. The seats are uncomfortable. Mileage is not that much better than a mini-van. Also pick-up is slow. DS was 13 at the time that we got it and he suggested we keep looking. It was a rushed decision too. It's mainly been a kid car by default though since I have a Ford Focus for work.
I love the Focus. Roomy trunk, great pick-up, decent mileage, powerful A/C and heat, etc.
The only going for the PT Cruiser is the styling. Otherwise, find something else if you can!

I had a PT Cruiser as a rental for a wee and hated it. The turn radius was awful. Terrible blind spots. I didn't find it roomy at all. I shared a car with another girl and our 2 suitcases would not fit in the trunk. One had to go on the bac seat. I was happy to turn it in.

But seriously, the only thing worse than a PT Cruiser is a Chevy HHR. The Nissan Cube is worse. It looks exactly like a cube on wheels.

I didn't really mine the PT Cruiser until I rode in one. Visibility is really bad.

awww, we loved our cruiser! They are cute little cars and can haul amazing amounts. I used to go up to the lumber store and the guys would chuckle until they started loading it - they were surprised.

I had to drive a light purple pt cruiser for a year. It was awful. Just awful. And embarrassing, but it got me where I needed to go- until it didn't!
