I'll probably make someone mad by saying this, but to me, that's what a real church looks like. Such a blessing. Prayers to your family.

So very special, jenjie. Stories like this almost make me rethink my prejudice against organised religion. Blessings to you and all the family. Thank you that means a lot. Like freebird said, this is what church is SUPPOSED to look like. We don't get it right all the time. We don't get it right most of the time. Like any family of brothers and sisters we may fight amongst ourselves or hold each other at arm's length. But unless the family is dysfunctional, if there is a need everyone circles the wagons.

What a beautiful gift that everyone was given. You may think that everyone is there doing for your husband but when they leave they will realize how having you and your husband is a gift to them. It is terrible having to lean on others. But it is in those raw moments you truly understand LOVE and compassion! Happy Father's Day to your husband!!! Absolutely. I have been on the other side of the blessing enough times to know its about multiplication. Everyone comes away better for it. I can't remember if I said it in my OP but everyone said this was something we will remember for the rest of our lives.

How wonderful that they would do this for you! I too am on the fence about various religious things, but the pictures and details you've shared let me know that there is REAL GOOD out there, and you were certainly a part of it yesterday.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Church families can be such a huge support when we need them. Sometimes we have to let them know when we need them.
Hugs

I am so glad to hear your church family is taking such good care of y'all. Sometimes people just don't know what just what a kind act can mean in a time of stress.
My grandmother is dying of ovarian cancer. She and my mom are long time church members of this tiny little independent Baptist church. The congregation has come together and made sure that she and Mom know they are loved. The preacher's wife bought a box of cards, addressed them to Granny, put a stamp on them, and left them in the church social hall. Anyone who cares to can take a moment and jot a quick message to Granny, put the card in the pre addressed envelope, and the preacher's wife will even see that it is mailed for them. Granny eagerly waits for the mail to run each day to see who has sent her a card; she gets at least one card a day, usually more. One of the deacons mows their yard every week.
One church member is helping take care of his MIL who suffers from dementia; when she has a bad day, he sends Mom a pizza. He says dealing with an ill family member is tough, and he wants to help his fellow caregiver. This act of recognition and acknowledgement of what she is going thru means so much to my mom.
I honestly don't know what my folks would have done without their church family. My brother and I can't be there as much as we'd like, but their other family has certainly filled in for us. We are grateful.

You have a special body of believers at your church who know what being the hands and feet of Jesus means. I think it's wonderful and rare. So many people don't know what to say or do and end up doing nothing.
Praise God for your church!

So many people don't know what to say or do and end up doing nothing. Praise God for your church! You are so right. Our pastor and wife, who are good friends of ours, came to visit last week. It was so good to be able to let them know all the different ways various members of the body have been meeting our needs. And they had no idea about any of it. I try not to bother them if I don't have to because so many other people need their attention and we are well cared for. Anyway I love that these things are not done because "pastor says we should" or for recognition. It is out of a heart of love. The love of Jesus.

I am not much of a church goer (although I do consider myself to be a faithful person) but between your story and watching the service from Charleston yesterday, I can certainly see what an amazing support that church family can be.
You are truly blessed.
