Got my hair colored this weekend and am really in need of a deep conditioning. I normally put it in and wrap in a towel for 1-2 hours. Friend of mine leaves it in all night! What's your method?

I thought about coconut oil...but I have fine hair that tends to get greasy. I have color safe conditioner on it now (had it colored saturday ) thinking of wrapping my pillow in a towel and leaving it on overnight...

Wow. I've only left mine on for like 10 mins while in the shower.
I'll have to try it longer and see if I get better results.

That's what I do daily to (have to...hair knots so easy) but try to do it longer at least every 2 weeks

Way back in the day when I used to perm my hair I did the overnight conditioning oils but that was a long time ago. These days the longest I leave in a conditioner is 2 minutes in the shower.

I've done overnight before. It does a great job with my hair.

Dh works nights so I use an overnight conditioner fairly regularly.

Those who say overnight...are you using a specific type or just regular conditioner?

Wow. I was going to say less than 30 seconds ! My hair is so fine that I almost never use conditioner. If I left conditioner on for a long time I'm sure my hair would be a greasy mess. You ladies are lucky to have nice thick hair that requires conditioner.

Funny you should mention this.....I spent the entire day yesterday with a deep argan oil conditioner in my hair. My hair looks super awesome today if I may say so myself. I spend the entire day with a deep conditioning treatment every so often.

I use regular conditioner all night. I never take mine out. But my hair is long, thick and super curly.
I use deep conditioner at least twice a month. I usually use a shower cap with deep conditioner mixed with olive oil in my hair and just wander around the house with it for a few hours.
I used to straighten my hair and I deep conditioned my hair at least once a week. Now, I just go curly all the time so less conditioning because of no flat ironing.

I'll leave a deep conditioner on overnight about once a month. I also have a hair mask that I put on and then put a heating cap on for about 20 minutes. I have dry coarse hair so both of these methods help.

I like the Three Minute Miracle conditioner. Cheap and effective. Never saw any reason to leave it longer than three minutes.

I alternate my conditioners. I have Laanza, Paul Mitchell and Joico all bout at my stylist's salon. The Laanza is leave in so I leave it in until next shampoo. The other two I rinse out right away.
I bought some clay by Regis years ago. I am talking eons ago and you put it in and leave it in for hours. It was really awesome stuff. I left it in overnight and my hair was so nice after I did that!

This is what I found finally that works:
1. Shampoo and condition in shower--I shampoo, then apply conditioner. Then, I wash my face & body and shave my legs. (I use body wash instead of a shaving cream, so washing my legs and shaving is one step.) Then, I rinse out the conditioner.
2. I wrap my hair in a towel. I got these hair towels at Target that are like the Turbie Twist--best invention ever.
3. I moisturize my face and put on lotion and get dressed.
4. Put on my makeup.
5. Take the towel off my hair and put on a leave-in conditioner--spray is easiest.
6. Dry hair.
7. Apply 1-2 drops of good hair oil.
8. If needed, take care of flyaways with a flat iron.
9. Only wash hair every 2-3 days or after exercising.
Getting old sucks. Who would have ever thought I'd be putting oil back into my hair?

For me personally, I don't use it. But DD has very long, thick, curly hair that tends to be dry and tangle easily so I buy Johnson's leave-in conditioner in the baby section of Target and do just that, leave it in until the next time I shampoo her hair. I don't put a lot in at the crown of her hair near the scalp but really work a good amount into the rest of her hair. I just bought something new to try today to help with the tangling problem, Kinky Curly Knot Today detangler and conditioner. I hope it works because her hair gets really ratty and tangled really fast, especially when her dad takes her swimming at the lake and then doesn't bother to even try to comb out that mess after. TWO days in a row. (I bet I spent 45 minutes today just trying to get the kid's hair combed into a halfway neat looking ponytail.)

When my hair is in need of deep conditioning, I get a 'well water treatment' from my stylist. It's awesome.

I still don't have long hair. It gets too long and it takes too much time. I always wanted curly, curly Justin Timberlake curls. I wanted Cher's length. and

I bought a colour safe kit of Frederick Fekkai shampoo, conditioner, and hair mask at Target. There's even a $10 coupon to use on more Fekkai products.
I will rub the hair mask onto my dry hair, leave it in overnight, and shampoo it out in the morning. It's amazing.
I usually only leave conditioner in my hair for a minute or two when I'm shampooing. My hair is really short--right at my jaw line, so I don't need as much.
When my mom was making me perm my hair as a teen, I would use the V05 hot oil treatment. It really helped with the damage from the perm and all the time I spent in the salt water and in pools.

Occasionally I'll slather my dry hair in conditioner, wrap it in a towel and leave it all day.

You ladies are lucky to have nice thick hair that requires conditioner. Unfortunately, I don't use conditioner every time I wash my hair because it's thick - just the opposite. It's gotten much thinner over time. But it's wavy and tends to tangle easily. I wish I didn't need to use it because my hair probably wouldn't get as greasy as it does.

3 or 4 minutes after I work it in, and only for a few days after I have it colored.

When I was DD's age, I had hair as long as hers (waist length or maybe longer?) but it was stick straight. My mom was a hair stylist by trade, and even she got sick of dealing with it so she cut it all off one day. I have vague memories of being devastated by that. Probably around 2nd grade she started giving me perms, and that went on until I was in my early 20's. My mom would have loved messing around with DD's hair, doing different styles and braids... As long as someone else had it all washed, combed out and detangled first!
