I currently have two brand new pairs sitting in my hallway and I can't decide which ones to keep. I'm an 8 and a half in normal shoes so I ordered an 8 on the advice of pretty much everyone. The 8 fit, but with thick socks though my toes don't touch, they feel a little snug but not annoyingly so. The 9 feel huge in every way possible, even the top of the boot feels very annoyingly big on my calves.
Keep the 8's?
I realize this is my third post on this very subject on this board so please accept my deepest apologies!

I don't think they can be stretched. Will you always wear thick socks with them?

Can you pick your favorite pair and get them in an 8.5?
If not I would probably just keep the 8's. Shoes that are too big are so annoying!

It depends where you live. If it is in a cold area where you are likely to want to wear socks, I would look for another brand that is comfortable with socks. If you live in someplace warm, then keep the 8s.

Leather does stretch with wear. Boots too big never shrink. You will always be annoyed by the loose fit. If the others aren't annoyingly snug, keyword being annoying, that is the ones I'd keep.

In the big ones try an insole. It might be just enough.
I can't wear shoes that are too tight.

They definitely don't stretch. And they're not warm at all, so if you need to wear thick socks, keep that in mind. Hunter makes boot socks which are basically liners with a cuff that folds down over the top of the boot. They would help to take up some of the extra room in the calf too.

Hmmmm...my wellies are a little too big and it's annoying, but they are a knockoff brand and were cheap. I don't wear them often, so I just deal. If I lived in Vancouver or somewhere where I'd be wearing them a lot more often, I'd want them to fit. And Hunters are uber popular here also, but I just couldn't justify the cost for how often I'd wear them. But I'd be a lot more willing if I lived in the Pacific NW.

I would keep the 8's and wear them with thinner socks.
They would be used for rain, not snow, correct?

Thanks everyone! I won't be often wearing them for fashion, but will be wearing them a ton! We have 30 acres that I stroll with my pup every morning that I'm there (currently only on weekends). My hiking boots just don't cut it, I needed something taller to keep the dew from the long grass and dander from covering my clothing from knee down.
I'm keeping the 8's. I was literally laughing out loud at myself tonight at work. I work in a meat factory and we wear steal toed rubber boots, not nearly as fashionable as Hunter's . Mine are just a bit too big. I end up dragging my feet when I walk a lot so my feet don't slip around.
I feel like a dork for asking the question now!
