I'm sorry to hear that you are having such issues and having to go through such painful procedures. I hope things resolve soon so you can progress with the surgery.
Meantime, wear the sunglasses if they make you more comfortable. Screw anyone who has anything negative to say about it.

Oh and don't worry about the sun glasses. I forget mine are on all the time and then leave my car with out my regular glasses and since they are prescription I can't just take them off, I'd be blind if I did. So if I leave my glasses in the car I'm stuck in sun glasses until I'm back in the car too bad if someone doesn't like it. ( I pretty much do this a least once a day if not several times a day)

Oh my word.. poor you. I'm so sorry you're going through this misery. I certainly wish you well in what sounds to be a long healing process. And I'll add my positive thoughts for vision correction too. Bless you.

You are amazingly strong.
Shots in the eye?! I echo the previous poster that said you are one tough cookie! You sure are.
I hope you heal sooner rather than later, and can plan your life on your schedule again.
(((hugs)))

I'm so sorry! Enjoy your new Brighton necklace! The PX has the best prices. I bought way too many Brighton pieces from the NEX when we were stationed in Hawaii.

Hold your head high and wear your sunglasses. They're not only medically necessary but a woman has to be allowed some vanity! Especially after the procedures you've been enduring. The only problem I'm having is that I was wanting to hear a better update Elaine! Hopefully those shots will prove effective and after the bruising disappears you'll have some improvement. Oh, and great idea on the necklace. Wear it with a low cut top and no one will even look at your face. Seriously though, thank you for the update. I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers and hoping the next update will be better for you.

Cortisone in the eye? Yowzers. I've had the cortisone shots in the tight muscles of my neck and thought that was extremely painful. I am so sorry you're having to go through this. I'd be tempted to tell anyone who looked at me sideways tomorrow that I had just a lobotomy... I have a pair of the light brown tinted shades that I sometimes wear indoors. My MS causes light sensitivity and spinal headaches. I so hate that you're having to go through all this crap. Is there anything else you can do to help the inflammation? I've heard that inflammation can be helped with diet, etc. I'm going to look into that since one of the reasons that I could be having these spinal headaches is the meninges covering the brain gets inflamed. Autoimmune diseases cause inflammation anyway. There are some really good alternative medicine people around here. I've always heard that getting rid of sugar helps inflammation, but what would I eat?

Oh, ouch, Elaine! I didn't want to read, because I am squeamish - especially about eyes, but I wanted to be a good friend and just bear witness to what you're going through. I am so sorry you are dealing with this. I know you as a very strong person and if anyone can handle this and beat it, you can!

I'm sorry that you have to go through such an arduous and painful process. Don't worry about the reactions of others. Wear sure glasses when you need them and don't let the bruising stop you from going out.

Ouch Ouch Ouch! I hope you can clear this up enough to have the surgery. Good luck with healing and getting through the radiation. I wish I lived closer, I'd totally stay with your kids while Christine drove you.

Thanks again everyone! I was rocking the sunglasses today, until we got to the part at the orthodontist where they had to show me how to insert and use the tool to crank my son's expander and I had to switch out the sunglasses for readers. I did my best to ignore the stares of the assistant and ortho, Rest assured, they didn't come off at the next two stores we went to or at Fanfare Eatery for lunch! Still swollen and hurting like a mofo, but tomorrow should be better.

It sounds absolutely nightmarish. I am sad you have to go through so much, but will send PPTs. Take care of yourself. Is there anywhere else the kids can be so you won't have to worry about them while you are getting treatments? It's going to be a looong summer.

I am sorry you are going thru this.
My DH has been getting monthly eye injections since last September. He has swelling in the back of his eyes as a result of blood clots and it was causing him to lose his vision. He is phobic about needles, so this has truly been a nightmare for him, but he is finally showing some improvement. His dr has slowly been stretching out the time between injections, so this time he was about nine weeks between.
He says his injections, which contain an anti inflammatory called Eylea, don't hurt as much as they terrify him. His dr uses 3 different anesthetics and has DH look in a specific direction when he goes to do the injection. DH can see the needle coming towards him and he says it takes everything he has not to run. So far, he hasn't taken off!
I have made ice packs and put them in a cooler in the car. If he puts them on as soon as we get into the car, the swelling is considerably reduced. I try to get him to lean back and cover his eyes with them, but some days he just can't stand to do that while I drive. His eye dr finally got with his gp dr and arranged for him to have a Xanax prescription. Since he had his strokes, we try to keep his blood pressure as low as possible, and this is about as stressful as it can get. I do take him to Red Robin afterwards and he wears his sun glasses in there and anywhere else he goes for the next day or so.

(((Hugs))) to him. The doc mixed in anesthetic with the cortisone, but it still hurt. He had me sit in his office for 15-20 minutes with an ice pack on my eyes afterward and I had the hardest time sitting there it hurt so much and the ice wasn't helping. My immune system is attacking my eye muscles causing them to swell, with the same danger of losing my vision your husband has if they can't stop my body mistaking that tissue as the enemy. I'm glad that the doc was wise enough to give him a Xanax prescription. And you are such a good spouse to take him to Red Robin afterwards! Yum! I have a couple of pairs of oversized sun glasses with lighter tint coming from Amazon today - all my regular sunglasses are really dark, so haven't been great for indoor wear. Hopefully these will be easier to keep on indoors and should cover everything. Thank heaven oversized is in!
