Omg, lookie what I found on ebaY..... sooo cute, it made me smile I might just order one---it'd be wayyy comfier than the rubber one I have!!! I almost bought a comfier FOAM one at Walgreens, but umm.....the opening was so SMALL... THANK YOU AGAIN to those who mentioned making one for when I can take baths again....I will definitely use your rolled-up towel idea....Ohhhh, I can't WAIT to be able to soak in my tub again with my lavendar/ eucaplytus Epsom salts!! ....Every time I take a bath when my hip and foot are killing me, I thank the Good Lord for that tub! And I pray that everyone who wants one could have one!!!!! P.S.....Although I love the LOOK of some of those gorrrgeous soaking tubs I see on the "HGTV" shows, I know that for me, I would miss those awesome JETS !!!! I put my feet directly on them! "They" say that if your FEET hurt, your whole body is affected, and I agree to a certain point. I WISH that the small whirlpool thingee I bought (the small kind, just for the feet) had stronger bubbling action for those times I can't submerge in the tub! But it IS nice just to soak my feet in hot water lotsa peppermint oil !!! Just wish those smaller ones had STRONG jets...!!!! Does anyone have one that does? Pleeeease tell me where I can buy it----thanks! Onto my original topic....how cute is THIS?

******UPDATE and QUESTION !!!******** ************************************ ******(sorry, I realize i should've just started a NEW thread instead of making y'all scroll to page three! LOL! ************ Instead of starting a new thread, I'm bumping my original one from almost a YEAR ago, because.....I think I have a NEW abcess in the formerly healed wound !!! I can NOT believe this! I just re-read every single response from last time, and now I want to ask--- ****Has anyone here had one or heard of one coming back to the SAME EXACT location, almost a YEAR later??? *** I'm seeing my GI doc Monday, BUTT---if this one gets as bad as last year, I MIGHT go to Urgent Care/ the ER today (Sunday) ---NOT because of the pain I'm in, (it's bad, but NOT as bad as last year, thank God!!!) No, I'm considering ER / Urgent Care today because I do NOT want this one to get as infected as the last one! But then again---last year, my primary doc put me on one type of antibiotic, then the next day after surgery, the surgeon switched me to another, so maybe I should just wait until Monday....UGH !!!

I don't have any advice except to say that when I noticed this was an old thread my first thought was "who is the asshole (no pun intended) who bumped this poor woman's thread?" Glad it was you but sorry for the reason.

I winced at the 'doctor squeezed me in' comment!
Seriously though, as a nurse I looked after many people after this procedure. All of them were euphoric after the op to get rid of the intense pain. The dressings afterwards can be uncomfortable, but without fail my patients told me it was nothing compared to the original pain and it was a relief to know it would soon be fine.
Eta- sorry I now see you are post op . Glad it went well for you and they you're on the home stretch now!

A student had it done and ended up dropping my class because they thought the recovery was going to be so difficult. His mother said what they anticipated was far worse than what actually occurred. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't difficult either. I hope the same goes for you.

I hope you feel better soon. If you're taking the pain meds for *pain*, you won't get addicted. It's when you just take them because you want the euphoria that you'll have problems.
I hope you get better soon. I think that the area you had the abcess in last year could be more vulnerable because of scar tissue and less healthy tissue.
I definitely think you're doing the right thing by not waiting for it to get as large as it did last time.
Get well soon!

I'm so sorry you are facing dealing with this again.
I don't know if your peri-rectal abscess is similar to a pilodonal cyst, but I know those can be reoccurring.
I would get medical help as soon as I could.

Oh boy, I'm sorry. That must hurt like anything. I just spent ten days on antibiotics for an abscessed tooth and having oral surgery tomorrow.
Are you taking something for the pain? I was on 3 motrin every four hours plus a tylenol/codeine pill.

I am sorry to hear it's returned. How miserable. I get peritoneal subsceous cysts and they are miserable enough.
My good friend's son has had surgery to repair anal fissures. The recovery is long and she has to pack it for him.

Thanks, everyone! We'll see how it goes today when I get to my GI's office! I HOPE they'll move my appt from 2;30 to much earlier, but I DOUBT it because he is sooo busy and it's a month-plus wait to get in to see him --I am SO thankful for coincidence that I already made today's appt. over a month ago, for an UNRELATED issue / regular checkup. I've just been doing sitz baths and alternating cold and warm packs in the meantime. I decided Urgent Care / ER wasn't needed----I hope I was right! burningfeather ---Thank you for making me LOL with your "asshole" comment !! LOL, and it looks like I actually should've started a new thread in the first place, because people aren't going to know to go to page 3 unless I edited my title----oh wait----that's what I'll do now !!!

I didn't even notice this was an old thread! I hope you get sorted today. And as you asked, I do know several people who have had this happen repeatedly in the same area. I think it's because when they suture there can be little pockets formed if the flesh doesn't heal completely across. At least this time, you know what to expect and know relief will come!

FEB 4, 2017.....Ugh, I'm hoping to hear from more peAple who've been through this. If you'd rather not read my LONG story below , I've already had two surgeries for this; (my last surgery was in June, and I've been fine). Tonight the pain, swelling, and a verrrry small amount of bleeding is BACK---AGAIN--- and I'm afraid I may need a third surgery! Annnd, of COURSE this had to happen late on a FRIDAY, so I can't call my surgeon's office for 2 long days! " class="smile"] I'm doing warm sitz baths with Epsom salt, which does help a bit. I am so sorry this is happening to you again. (((hugs))) I don't have experience with this, but can offer you prayers, positive thoughts and lots of (((hugs))))

You can call your surgeon's office on the weekend, they should have someone on call. Plus, you can go to the ED. The longer you wait, it could get much worse and require longer healing time.

You poor thing. I get abscesses in my sensitive areas but not that far back. They're painful, but usually resolve in 7-10 days. Owie!! Have they scoped you and looked for Crohn's? My friend's son had a recurring fistula and it ended up being a sign of Crohn's Disease. It's not an easy issue to live with but if you have it, treatment makes it much better rather than being untreated.

Thank you, everyone! pridemom ......I had a colonoscopy last summer....no Crohn's or other problems. I've had diverticulosis for many years, and a foot of my sigmoid colon was removed---so I've had mannnny colonoscopies! If it gets worse, I will go to ugent care; HOWEVERrrrr.....the last time this happened ( a few months ago) , my surgeon wasn't concerned, and just did some cautery---OUCH !!! The pain was much worse last time; so that's why I'm not very worried. I'm just going to continue with warm sitz baths (and stool softeners !!) and see how it goes. UGH...WHY does this kinda stuff allllways happen on FRIDAYS!

Abscess and fistula. Very frustrating and painful conditions.
I'm so sorry you're dealing with this situation so long.
I hope everything quickly heals truly and you can get back to your regularly scheduled programming.
