I woke up with yesterday's headache still blazing, so I drank a sweet tea. That has cut it down tremendously.
No cravings for Diet Coke.
My my did said, "Mom, it's like you are having withdrawal symptoms like a drug addict."
That hit me. She is right. It is like a drug addict. If I feel this bad without it, imagine how much damage it did to me.
How are the rest of you today?

I'm at day 7! So far, so good and strangely, I haven't craved them. I do get tired of plain water by around noon and so have been drinking decaf tea in the PM.

I need to do this. I don't even like the taste of Diet Coke. Unfortunately I drank one this morning already. I have been increasing my water intake since I got a Fitbit. Tomorrow it's cold turkey so to speak.

Great, so far! I had all water yesterday, with the exception of a small D Cranberry Limeade from Sonic after dinner. Still no headaches and have lost 3.3 lbs so far this week (not just from the lack of DC, but better eating all around. Got back on the WW wagon.), so I am marching on!

Yesterday was fine. I woke up this morning with an awful headache. I don't know how many times I've refilled my water bottle today, but it's been a lot!

Great! I cleaned out my fridge to make room for SodaStream bottles. If the bottles are ready to go, I'm more likely to drink it!
Also, so, for those of you switching to Soda Stream to get your fizzy fix, you'll have more success if you carbonate cold water in a cold bottle. It really makes a difference...much more satisfying than tap water that's chilled after the fact.

I've been lurking on this thread. I know I am addicted. Badly. For a long time. I am admiring how brave you all are. I want to join you but I'm scared. I came home from work just now and realized I was out of Diet Coke. I either go out this afternoon and refill the stash, or I take the plunge and join you ladies. I will report back later. I'm hoping that by typing this out it encourages me. I am going to hit post before I chicken out!

I've been a long time addict, had cut it just about completely out, and then fell off the wagon recently. Having to post my progress helps me be more accountable, and I feel like I'm not alone. I'm tired of feeling crappy, and I know the short term discomfort will be worth the long term benefits.

So soda for me so far today. I'm just starting to get a headache.
I had a McDonald's Caramel Frappe last night, for the first time, because of all of the commercials. I liked it but not the high calories. Thank goodness they posted the calorie count or I might have switched from one vice to another.

I almost messed up!! I was at the farmer's market at lunch. It was so hot! One booth had a cooler full of sodas...including diet Coke. Oh, how I love a really chilled diet Coke!!!! I came to my senses and passed it up. Drank my fizzy water at home!

Okay, reporting back. I did NOT go out and buy more diet Coke. In addition to feeling your bravery and support, I started thinking about how much my addiction is costing me per year and came up with a VERY conservative estimate of $600-800/year. That's absurd. And forget about what it's costing my poor body and tooth enamel.
So I'm going cold turkey with you all! AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!

I don't know the day number for me, I probably should work it out, but I am being lazy tonight. I wanted a vanilla coke today, but staying strong. I have to say that the pounds I have dropped is strong motivation for me to stay the course! ETA - I stopped being lazy Day 74! And I have lost 12 pounds!! I want to lose another 10 or so putting me at or around 140lb. In all transparency.....I cut out soda's and almost all sugars. I also have greatly reduced my bread intake. I am not following an specific diet, or taking any diet pills etc, just trying to eat healthy well balanced meals throughout the day. I have to say I have been loving the fresh summer fruits! I know they are high is natural sugars. I guess I really cut out the 'whites'. White sugar, white flour etc. Oh, and I have also been drinking lots of water.

WTG peaps! The headaches will go away soon. Keep hydrated and pop a few tylenol. You can do this!

It definitely helps doing this together. I haven't gone a full day yet, but already feeling the effects from just 9 hours. Tired and sluggish with a heavy head. Normally, I would crack open a can or two right about now and veg in front of the tv watching mindnumbing shows for a few more hours. Instead, I'm going to just chug one more glass of water and hit the sack. I'm a little scared what tomorrow will bring, but knowing you all are going through it with me somehow makes this easier to bear. Isn't it awful that this stuff has claimed such a grip on our bodies that we are literally going through physical withdrawal symptoms? But I know together we can power through!
Looking forward to tomorrow's check in. I may be grumpier tomorrow, but tonight I'm positive and excited about this change!!

No headaches for me so far, but I drink black coffee pretty much all day so I'm sure that's why. Meals are what kill me. It doesn't taste right to just drink water with food, I wanted a cold pepsi so bad a lunch and when I ate a sandwich after I got home. I'm usually the only one that ever replenishes the stock of soda in the fridge, and I haven't been, so there are no cold ones available. Even though we have pepsi, a hot one is not that appealing, so I'm not really tempted. I started the 30 squat challenge and the 30 day plank challenge this week, too. By the time classes start next month I should fit right in with the whippersnappers at the community college.

I was fine at home but came to my parents for the week-end and my dad had a 12 pack of diet coke waiting for me. I have resisted so far. I slept terrible last night so it's hard to resist. My biggest temptation is when my kids ask me to take them to this chicken tender place called Cane's. They have the mini pellets of ice. I always get a large diet there.
