What happened this week that was good?
Last night we went to the boardwalk. I would like to say I played my best game of mini golf ever. Truthfully, it was my first good game of mini golf ever. LOL and I won!
As we were getting ready to go to the car, we heard a loud BOOM. We didn't know it beforehand but there were fireworks. We stayed for the show, which was really good.
Sunday was a great day. Our church had 12 baptisms! 8 in the morning and 4 in the evening. The evening was especially sweet to me. All 4 were people I have invested in. One woman who considers me her mentor, and her DD. Another woman who just recently shared her story and struggles with me, I'm becoming her mentor as well, and her dh.
I surprised them by taking pictures. Nothing special, just on my phone. They were so appreciative. They had been wishing they had someone to take pics.
Who's next?

Good: staples had a great sale on spiral notebooks, glue and pencils. I was able to buy lots and lots to donate to a school and church that helps underprivileged kids. Bad: threw out my back lifting a heavy box filled with notebooks. I'm icing it as I lay in bed typing this.

I got cancelled last night. Our census was down and my ANM could have made me come in to do charge so she could have an office day, but she let me stay home. I haven't been cancelled in more than six months and was looking forward to having a night off to work on vacation photos.
Janet
just to elaborate. I work 12 hour shifts in a very busy Open Heart unit. We seldom get cancelled, we usually have to float to another unit if the census is down. I hate floating to a different unit. So being cancelled instead was a treat. My ANM (assistant nurse manager) had planned on me coming in to be the charge nurse but, instead, said I could stay home and she would do charge. Yippee! I spent hours organizing my 3000 vacation pictures.

Such a little thing, but it really made my day.
A couple days ago, I was leaving a store and a man said to me,"I don't want you to think I'm a creep or a weirdo, but I just want to tell you that I love your hair. I like that you let it go gray, and all the colors I see in it are beautiful."
Never, in the 55 years I've walked this earth, has anyone told me my hair was pretty. Never.
I have always disliked my hair. It is a strange mixture of curly (bordering on kinky) and fine, full of cowlicks, and dealing with it has always been a battle. And it has always been a strange mixture of colors, from very blonde to a dark reddish brown. Even as a child, I remember my mom saying many times that there was nothing she could do with it to make it look nice. I colored from high school on, then a couple of years just let the color go and let it be what it is.
It is the first time I ever felt that maybe it isn't so unattractive after all.

I had my 6 month appointment with the dermatologist yesterday and have absolutely nothing new to report. (nothing new to add to my charts...nothing new to dig or scrape...nothing new to watch with concern)
Uneventful trips to the dermatologist for my full body skin exam are always good news.
MAKE YOUR APPOINTMENT TODAY...EVERYONE NEEDS TO DO THIS AND TREAT A SKIN EXAM WITH THE SAME IMPORTANCE AS GOING TO THE OB/GYN OR THE DENTIST. Catching skin cancers early can save your life.

I had my semi annual review at work today and I rocked it! I've learned a totally new job in the past 6 months and my boss had only praise for me. And I got a significant raise on top of it. It was an awesome day!

So much good stuff this week but the best is probably a little bit silly to most of you; we went whale watching a couple days ago and saw a bird called a South Polar Skua. It's very rare for the continental US and is probably the most rare bird I will ever get to put on my life list.

Business is really good. Long story but we got a job that was very "dramatic" from our competition. I played it cool and professional and they went with us, and commented about how nutzo our competition looked. (I really had to sit on my hands). Today we had a 2 no-shows and magically, 2 jobs to fill it. One being a REALLY high paying insurance job (one job that took my husband an hour was equal to a weeks pay with his old employer (after expenses).... that old employer? Our competition. DRAMA!

We just started our addition that has been years in the planning! Lumber was delivered today. I've been told they remove the roof tomorrow. So far it is moving along at a fast clip. I'm looking forward to having the extra space when it's all done - even if we are cramped and overwhelmed with a huge mess in the meantime(we had to empty the attic and several closets and relocate furniture and other stuff all over the house).

19 Yo got a job and started Monday! Yay! Been praying he'd find something decent. Working in a warehouse running a forklift, he's young but has a real knack for running equipment. Full-time, insurance after 60 days, paid vacation and holidays and Monday through Friday. Thank You Lord!
I started cleaning out my scrap room and went through some of my stash. Did a complete 2-page 12x12 PL style layout and was very pleased with how it turned out. First one I've done in over 6 years! I think I'm getting the bug again, and even though I mostly scrap for me, I'm remembering how much I enjoy the creative side of our hobby....and I've still got tons of stuff to use.
Last one is good/bad. Friend called last night asking if I'd like some beets. Her neighbor has a humongous garden and has beets ready to pull and she doesn't have time to mess with them. Bad part is that I will spend a good part of tomorrow pickling and bottling them- and they are a pain! - but they are dh's fave, so I told him it was a labor of love!
So it's been a good week so far, thanks for asking!

This week I finally started feeling my other twin moving around in there (anterior placenta... been feeling his sister for weeks but nothing from him) and in short order I started getting alien belly every evening. I'm loving watching the two of them duke it out every night.

Mine was actually from last week but after weeks of practice my oldest dd got to dance in the Mickey Soundsational Parade and the Pixar Parade at Disneyland. It was amazing to watch her dance down Main Street in Disneyland. I was so proud of her.

I went shopping with my cousin (really more like a sister) her DS, and my DD yesterday and laughed all day. Ate great food and had a blast!

This week has been average. The prior two weeks my dd and granddaughter were here for a girl trip. We had so much fun. I'd love to stay on vacation forever.

I hope you're better soon papersilly. How awesome to hear such great news from everyone.
My good news: the driver side window on one of our cars wouldn't go up and down without a struggle and a lot of noise. Instead of hundreds of dollars to get it taken care of at the shop, my husband watched several YouTube videos, dismantled the inside of the door, bought the repair kit at the auto parts store and finished fixing it tonight for $90. It amazes me what he can do. We celebrated with ice cream.

My sister took me to get my first pedicure ever. Saturday I'm taking a client to a baseball game, so I'll get paid to do something fun.

We had a good solid week with 17 yo DD. We've had behavorial issues with her over the last year (she's on meds) and usually we don't go a week without an incident, but this week we did! Stress is low but I'm hopeful good things continue.
