I've always enjoyed reading all the responses from past posts regarding food so I thought I'd contribute my recent problem.
I left a bowl of three bean salad (cici beans, green beans, kidney beans, cherry tomatoes and onion) out on the kitchen counter all night long. It was from a salad potluck I attended and wasn't in the fridge from 6pm yesterday. It was about 75 in my house when it got left out all night.
Also, it was marinated in olive oil & balsamic vinegar.
I think the only thing missing information-wise would be a picture!
Your thoughts please?

I am usually pretty relaxed about these kind of things, but I am thinking I would probably toss this. There is some kind of bacteria that grows on beans or something like that and I am not sure I would want to take the chance. You know??
75 isn't cool enough to keep bacteria from growing...

The oil involved is what I think is a potential problem. So I would toss.

I would trade them for the delicious bowl of sauteed mushrooms that I left out last night!

No. My reasoning would be if it was from a pot luck where any number of people had dipped spoons into it or stood around talking over it and/or it was left uncovered on a table somewhere and I wasn't sure if anyone dipped a finger in there at some stage... Lots of potential for bacterial contamination and then left out overnight for the bacteria to multiply happily.
If I had made it myself and it hadn't left my house, then I might eat it...it would depend on various things like the room temperature and if it was covered or not. It would still be a risk, and I'd have to be faced with all the variables in order to decide for sure. But a leftover from a pot luck? that would be an instant 'no'

If I have to think about "should I eat it or not", then I don't eat it.

I would not. But I also toss things on their expiration date.

I would toss it, especially since it had been at a potluck before.

I would toss it. Then again, I tend to err on the side of caution when it comes to food left out or food that's past its expiration date.

I would toss it especially since it did come from a potluck. I am leary of potluck dishes from the getgo, let alone left out overnight.

I tend to agree with tossing it due to its potluck exposure ... you just don't know if people were picking food out with fingers or whatever, and then it sat there all night. Otherwise I would keep it as long as it looks/smells/tastes okay.
Someone mentioned the oil being a problem and I don't really get that. Oil is stored unrefrigerated all the time.

I think the only oil I refrigerate is sesame. I have canola and olive oil in the pantry, and they are at least three months old.

If I have to think about "should I eat it or not", then I don't eat it. This is me as well. I have enough stomach issues that I don't even think about risking anything. It's just not worth it.

I wouldn't eat it for a couple of reasons. One being I am not a fan of things that have sat out all night and err on the side of caution; second being I don't like 3 bean salad
