I'm going to be having surgery next week and I'd like to pick up a few books to dive into while I'm home recovering. And books you just LOVED?
Thanks!

Two of my favorite chick lit authors are Jen Lancaster and Mary Kay Andrews.
Good luck with your surgery and recovery.

Good luck with your surgery! My advice is to keep reading pretty light and fluffy since it may take a few days to get concentration back.

Yep, Jennifer Weiner and Elin Hilderbrand are both good for chick lit. Rosamunde Pilcher, while not chick lit, is a good and writes very absorbing, though light, tales of British family life. The Shell Seekers and September are both good "recovery reads."

Jane Green Jane Porter Stacey Ballis (aka Jen Lancaster's BFF) Hester Browne Ceceilia Ahern Sarah Pekkanen (may not have spelled that right)

The Husband's Secret and What Alice Forgot. Good luck! I second these. I love chick lit authors who knock it up a notch or two and Liane Moriarty is a perfect example of that.

Also anything by Jojo Moyes or Maeve Binchy. I also enjoy Kristina Riggle but her books aren't just as light.

Another vote for Liane Moriarty. Her newest book Big Little Lies comes out 7/29 and I'll start that one right away. I actually just read her first book Three Wishes and liked it quite a bit. That one is only $1.99 for Kindle. Eta- I saw someone mentioned Cecilia Ahern. I loved Where Rainbows End, it was such a fun light hearted read. Along those lines- Attachments by Rainbow Rowell would be another recommendation in this genre.

Maybe Cathy Kelly too. But Marian would be my first choice.

Good luck with your surgery, OP! You got a lot of great suggestions.
Slight Hijack - I see there are many other Marian Keyes fans! I've read all of her books, and I think they are in general entertaining but immediately forgettable. However, the first one of hers I read was "Anybody Out There" and I thought it was AMAZING. I keep reading her novels hoping to recreate that "Wow" feeling I got from it, but so far, not so much.

I love the Miss Julia books by Ann Ross. Very funny, but should be read in order. Good luck with your surgery.
