I am so scatterbrained lately. Forgetting little things, disorganized etc. Not like me at all! I can't focus on things like I used to. It's frustrating. I was talking to my coworker and she mentioned ADD. Is it possible to develop ADD as an adult? I do have hashimotos, but my numbers are not at a point where I need thyroid meds so I don't know if it's that. Just need my focus and concentration back.

When did you last get your thyroid level checked? Might be worth a recheck. Do you sleep well at night (when I don't get much sleep I am disorganized and scatterbrained because I am so tired.)
Re ADD- My DS's psychologist told us that a lot of adults have ADD and don't realize it because they were never diagnosed. According to her, most have learned to deal with the ADD by self medicating w/o realizing it (e.g., drinking lots of coffee/caffeine to help them focus).
ETA that my DH said that described him to a T. Totally unable to focus w/o caffeine - lots of it.

I sleep okay. 7 hrs a night. Last blood draw was November last year. It's been a couple years with the concentration/ forgetfulness but I just assumed it was thyroid related.

perimenopause can do a number on memory. I think ADD is something you don't develop as an adult. It is something that was always there. If you don't have a life history that points to ADD traits your entire life it is more likely hormonal.

How old are you? Could it be related to perimenopause?
I know that's my problem; totally lost my marbles and have to write everything down.

If you are of an age for it to be perimenopausal the good news is you will eventually get your memory and organizational skills back. It is just frustrating in the mean time.

Argh. Well that's hopeful! Thanks volt. I'll bring it up to my doc when I go back for bloodwork in the fall.

I'm pretty sure ADD is something that you either always have had or don't.

I tested for ADHD. And as an adult I was diagnosed with ADHD, however with me it was traced back to my childhood. I do take mefication for it.
