I finally (finally!) know what I'm having tattooed on me. It took me a long time to find something important enough to put it in ink.
I was inspired by a thread I think I saw here about having a loved one's signature from a card inked onto them.
Anyway, now that I know what I want, how do I decide where's a good place to put it?
I guess my "requirements" :
I don't want it visible to the outside world. I know that limits me, but I am a very conservative person, and I want to remain that way.
I want to be able to see it. It feels pointless to have something inked onto me that I can't see. So, probably no back, no back of the legs, etc.
I don't have a sexy, fit body. I shudder to think what the tattoo artist would think/feel if he/she had to ink it on my stomach.
Also, it's going to be words. I don't want to have to read them in a mirror (backwards) to see them.
If I wasn't so damn conservative, I'd have it inked on my inner wrist/forearm area so that it was readable by me when I turn my palm facing up.
Am i being too conservative? Should I get it in white ink on my inner wrist/forearm?

Mine is on my ankle. I can cover it with pants or socks if necessary. Plus few people take the time to look at my ankle.
I would not personally get it on my wrist. As I said, I'd rather be able to cover it if I wanted.

That tat does look very nice.... on her body.
Not so sure it would look quite as lovely on mine.

Do you want it to be visible to the world on a regular basis with the option to cover or is it special and for you?

The tattoo artist is the best person to ask. You need to be happy where it is.The artist also won't judge your body. They have seen it all. If you are conservative then don't go against your feelings and put it somewhere you are not comfortable. you could ask your tattoo artist if they could put the stencil where you want it and then you can sort of "test drive" the location. It lasts for a couple of hours and is not permanent. You can "wear" the stencil on your wrist for a bit to see if you would be okay with it or not.
I have three tattoos - one on each leg and one on the nape of my neck. The nape of my neck tattoo I originally wanted on my arm. The artist thought that would look odd and was better in the nape of my neck.

I got a cute small tattoo on my stomach when I was 24. Today at age 58, it's not so cute. It's pretty hilarious actually, very very stretched! I'll be waiting for you to answer freecharlie's question before I suggest any spots.

I'll be waiting for you to answer freecharlie's question before I suggest any spots. My stomach is already pretty hideous. That's why I'm reserved about having a tat there if I will only wince everytime I want to see my pretty art because of a nasty belly. Wow, that felt like an overshare on my part.

I don't think they do foot tattoos anymore. What about the ankle? Hip? Top of breast? The spot on the front just above the breast where the arm and the body have the soft area (I don't know what it is).
Is it just a word or a phrase? How big are you looking?

I'm weird and always think word tattoos looks better in some places more so than others. Like I'm not a fan of words just on the legs other than ankles. What about your inner upper arm..like below your armpit?

Maybe over your heart, where your hand hits when you put your hand over your heart. Not really visable but you don't have to turn around and look in a mirror to see it.

Probably a two by three inch space. It'll be: We love you (my name) Dad & Mom

I got a tattoo on my foot last year. People get their private parts tattooed, so a foot is nothing.
The top of my foot was a good place for me. Most shoes cover it, even sandals cover most of it. But it's visable when I want it to be.
