What are your plans for Canada Day or this coming weekend?
Does anyone have a four day weekend? We just moved to Northern Ontario, so we will be hitting some festivals in Thunder Bay. My dh has 4 days in a row off which never happens in the warmer months (he works in bridge construction). We also plan on going to a farmers market, cheese farm, and lots of sitting in the yard bbq'ing.

We're going to the local pub Monday night to start things off a bit early and will join in the celebrations in town the next day. And of course freworks Tuesday night!

I am lucky enough to live in Ottawa. DD is going downtown to the "BIG" celebration with a bunch of girls. The thought of hanging out with several hundred thousand partiers does nothing for me, so we will going to a small neighbourhood BBQ. I have a 4 day weekend so am really looking forward to some sun, beach and beer.

I took Monday off so I could have a four day weekend. I live in the Vancouver area and there is a celebration close to us with live bands, fireworks etc. We will go down later in the evening when Daniel Wesley and Matthew Good band are on, as well as the grand finale of fireworks.
It's my Mom's 81st birthday on Saturday, so I am hosting a bbq dinner/party for that. The rest of the weekend, other than Canada Day, I am going to enjoy some down time.

I'm working two shows on Canada Day... one on each side of the GTA (IOW lots and lots of driving). BUT that evening, there will be a pool and a drink in my hand so that's good. We'll probably be too tired to check out any of the big fireworks shows.
We're talking about having an "After Canada Day" party on the following Friday since all of us are working.

I'm taking the 4 days. The boys are leaving tomorrow morning to visit my parents in Newfoundland for the month. I'll probably head downtown (Toronto) for some of World Pride but, otherwise, I'm just planning on relaxing.

I work this year again. And I work the next morning so even though I would like to head down to the fireworks I will likely just go to bed before they even start. I work the July long weekend and the August long weekend this year.

Usually we take in the festivities here in Edmonton but my French Bulldog is recovering from complications following throat surgery. I think we will just stay home this year.

I've heard from people working shows down there that it is absolutely freakin' insanely crowded. I'm so not a crowd person. But I've also heard that it's a lot of fun!

We always have gone camping for the Canada Day long weekend but I realized too late that it is not a long weekend this year! By the time I went to book off at work, everyone had beat me to it. That, coupled with the bad weather, is forcing us to stay home. But there are lots of activities to do here including a new pub opening on July 1 with kayak and paddle board access. That's where I'll be on Canada Day; having a pint for my country!

I would like to go camping, but the local campground was under 3 feet of water last weekend, so I think well just relax at home. Dh has to work Monday. I'm on mat leave for another 2 weeks.

Thanks! Good to see you too! I think between either of those, I'll stick to puttering around the backyard and going to David's Tea. Yup. I'm domesticated. Too much running around this week in crowds.

No plans here either, I work Saturday, and if I'd been using my brain when booking vacation, I would have asked for the Monday off . oh well. I guess we will just go to our local park to watch the fireworks.

Hayley Wickenheiser is coming to a local grocery store in the morning. I'll be helping at that, which is cool. I know the fellow organizing it; he used to play in the floor hockey league I run. We're loaning him some extra sticks & a set of nets. In exchange, he will ensure I get to meet Ms. Wickenheiser. Very excited. No plans in the afternoon. In the evening I'll head out to the fireworks. They aren't in my town, they're in Parksville. Oh no... we can't have fireworks he. It's much more important to have fireworks on Bathtub Weekend. But I'm not bitter.

I've lived here since 2001. I was living in Quebec City before. People usually rave about Quebec City, but there is much more to do in the Gatineau-Ottawa area, especially when you have kids! I love my "new" city!
