I did pretty much the same thing as the rubbermaid tub idea but I found a cheap seward/steamer trunk (not vintage) someone was getting rid of and cut the end out of that and put the largest litter box I could find in the bottom away from the entrance side. Cat goes in and has to walk to other side of trunk to get out so little litter outside box. Also helped to put down that cushy shelf liner stuff on exit end to further contain litter.
Then just because I could, I put a quick coat of black chalk paint over the shiny vinyl and modge podged fake old looking travel luggage tags on it that I found online and printed. Now it doesn't look like an obvious cat box, and I just flip open lid to clean with scoop and bags also in there.
Is it odd that a litter box/trunk is one of my favorite crafty upcycle/redo I've done?
