We saw that early this morning on the news. RIP. Although we knew he had been sick for many years, he looked so well as he played his part in the RWC in the UK recently, so it came as a bit of a shock.

I was shocked when I read that also....I'd just read about him returning home to New Zealand a few days ago after being here for the Rugby World Cup. Jonah Lomu was one of the 'greats' of rugby union and we enjoyed watching him play.

I heard it on the radio today and was shocked. I didn't even realise he was sick.

Now have had some time to watch some Youtube videos of Jonah and have to say he was a force of nature and even better than I remember. The pace, the grace, the power - amazing. My biggest memory is his performance against England in '95 where he just ran and walked over the English players.
Reading the tributes being posted on the BBC site, one caught my eye - NZ team talk before game. Rugby is a team sport. All 14 of you pass the ball to Jonah.

Very sad indeed. I knew he wasn't a well man and had kidney problems for a few years. He had a transplant some time ago but it was quite a shock to read of his untimely passing. He was quite unique. RIP Jonah Lomu

I was also stunned when I read this on Facebook last night. I was surprised he was only 40 years old, for some reason, I thought he was older than that. What an amazing player he was
