Mine is a hit & a miss. My SO & I don't exchange gifts so the only gift I get is from my mother. She surprised me with a Pandora bracelet ? however it's way too small. I have seriously wanted one for years but I have huge wrists & normal bracelets don't fit me. I don't have the heart to ask for a receipt. In this case, I totally would. It's not that you don't like it, it's that it doesn't fit. That's too much money to not exchange it.

Hits: the six pack of Fire Tablets. They were inexpensive enough that everyone got them and they love them. The Fire Tablets were both a hit and a miss. At $34.99 I got one for my DS even though I didn't think it would be his thing. He has a gaming computer and smart phone and wouldn't really use it. I got it along with others "just in case". I was right and he didn't want, but that's ok, I was expecting as much. Now he can get something he wants with return $. Everyone else likes and will use them. I always tell my kids I would rather they return and get something they want than be "polite" and not use stuff. Waste of money. And that would hurt my feelings more than not wanting something. There is very little to return, so all in all it was a hit year. << I'm such a "bad Mom" but I got these (F&%#ing Brilliant pencils) for my DD18 artist/college student and they were quite unexpected and she loved them. Probably her favorite little thing. They are pretty inappropriately funny. 10 pencils with 5 sayings on them. Click for close up. Just put those pencils in my Amazon cart as a stocking stuffer for my sister for next year. thanks!

Oh! Also hits: a vinyl record that says "Which one's Willie?" on it, that my brother and SIL had a photo of our dog printed and put it in the center of a pic on the cover. It is hilarious!
They they also got us a photo frame that says Seaside on it (one of our favorite vacation places), with a pic of me and DH while we were there, and a bottle of Jefferson bourbon.

All hits in our family. We gave fewer, but more thoughtful gifts this year, and I couldn't be happier.
When my son graduated from Notre Dame last spring, I hired a professional photographer to take pictures of our family around the campus. My husband's brother and sister were there, so they were in many of the pictures. The photographer sent the pictures to me digitally and told me I could do whatever I wanted to with the pictures. I made my husband and his sister and brother a photobook from Shutterfly and they all seemed to genuinely love their books.
My husband received a Yeti cooler for Christmas and he loved that. It will be great at the lake this summer.
My husband gave me a gift certificate to my favorite store (Nordstrom) and a camera case for my Canon G7X, which he gave me back in November as a combined Anniversary/Christmas gift.

I can relate to the disappointment of getting thoughtless gifts. DH would always ask a million times "do you like it?" And act like getting new pots for the third year in a row because he found such a good deal should excite me. I finally decided a few years ago that I deserved to have gifts I wanted so I started buying them for myself. If I saw a pair of boots I liked I bought them and put them away until Christmas. Then after the holidays I pull out my I Love Me stash and enjoy my new stuff. This year I got a few candles, some make up and a jacket. Many times the ladies here find good deals and I end up with cool things for much less money than one would ever think. Now would anyone like the really ugly sweater, size large hat (I don't wear hats and I am petite) or Tervis tumbler with no lid and a wine glass inside that I got? I accepted them graciously and added them to my regift box knowing my stash was waiting for me next time I was home alone. Good for you! That's pretty much what I did. Bought some clothes that make me feel good about myself (was sick of all my "mom" clothes) and figured it was the best gift I could give myself. I think at some point, we just have to put ourselves at the top of the list if everyone else seems to put themselves there too.

AND I totally agree Twizzlers are crap and Red Vines are awesome! LOL. I like Red Vines more than regular Twizzlers, but I have to say that I also like Twizzlers Super Long Nibs almost as much as Red Vines!

If there were any misses I didn't hear about them. My family did well for me. DH learned a long time ago that I want gifts for my bday and xmas (only 2 weeks apart). He also knows to fill my stocking. He usually fills mine better than I do his. There were some things we put on our Amazon wish list but we each try to find something not on our list too.

I spent more money than I should have on some Lego for two little boys aged 4 and 5 (my stepmother's grandsons), but they were far more interested in the $2 glow sticks that I also bought them!
The biggest hit was the PS4 that we got for our son. He was saving money for one but as a surprise we bought it for him. He'd asked people for gift vouchers for the games store so he could buy one, so instead he was able to use the vouchers and his saved money for more controllers and games.

The hit of our Christmas was the Minion fart blaster my 3yr daughter wanted to give her dad. Everyone had a ball with it.
The Blankie Tails I bought were not as popular as I thought they would be. Not really a miss, but I thought the 3 girls that got them would be more excited about them. I thought mermaid tails were going to be a home run. And they were more like a base hit.

Hits: iPad minis for the two boys (aged 13,16). DD asked for four classic novels. She said those were here fave. No misses but ds16 thought it was kinda funny one of "his" gifts was that we prepaid to get his puppy fixed. We figured we'd be paying anyway, might as well make it a gift. He would have preferred since we "were paying anyway" a different gift

My husband loves to shop so he easily spoils us every year so we are usually all hits in our household but our one big miss this year was sadly something that was a huge hit but we realized it was truly a miss, the BB8 for my son.
He loved it but we just couldn't get it to hold a charge and stay connected to the app, not a lot of tech support yet with such a new toy and it was way smaller than we expected so after a group discussion with ds we decided BB8 would be returned, sadly. Son was a bit upset but understood why it wasn't right to keep a $200 toy that didn't live up to expectations nor work as well as we'd expect.

Just DH and I so pretty much all hits. I make a list for him and he buys exactly what is on the list so guaranteed hits on his part. He did add a few surprises, one was a mug he found in a thrift shop similar to one he broke that is really nice and another is a video game which he said he did not buy but ended up in the bag with the other games. Not really my style but not too bad.
I am on my own for his gifts but how could I go wrong with surprising him with a 65" 4K tv. Big hit along with everything else especially the Sees Candy which is his favorite. We are on the east coast and can only get Sees Candy here during the holidays so it is really a treat.

I didn't have any big hits..except the things I bought myself. Which is why I buy for myself! My daughter is so excited about what she got me..and I don't care for it. Its an elephant tea pot from Anthropologie. I told her I loved it. But I will have to give her some more specific ideas next year. Funny thing after being divorced for 5 years.. this was the first year any of my siblings asked her if she needed help buying me a gift, and three of them asked! Two of my brother in laws took her shopping in October. It was incredibly nice of them, and of my sisters so I would never let any of them know I didn't love what I got. My daughter loved her gifts except one. She got a coat that she didn't love. I bought it on-line and it didn't look like I expected so no surprise there. Biggest hit for my DD was tickets to see Kristin Chenoweth. We are both looking forward to that! Big hit on Christmas day was the basketball hoop headband that we got my BIL. You strap it to your head and others try and throw ping pong balls in it. Everyone had fun with it, especially in the pool.

Biggest hit this year was the Amazon Echo we got for daughter/son-in-law. They had never heard of it and were a little 'meh' at first when they opened it (I was surprised that two 20 somethings hadn't heard of it!) but within a couple minutes of getting it going, they were loving it. We played with that thing for hours!
Lots of hits for youngest DD (19) because I pretty much went down her Amazon wishlist. She loved everything.

I did really good with my kids. They loved everything, my 22yo keeps telling me thank you and he is not a demonstrative person. My husband liked all his gifts. As for me, I was disappointed and would have preferred that I received no gifts vs thoughtless gifts. I sound ungrateful but I hate waste and really hate that I listen all year to what others like/ could use but I feel invisible. My dh gave me stuff fo rmy stocking but didn't bother to put it in the stocking, which was sitting right on the table. He gave me a jumbo sized pack of Twizzlers and my daughter gave an uh-oh and then dh announced that he knows that isn't the right kind but that was all they had. I hate twizzlers and think they taste like clay. It is a small thing, but a thoughtless thing. My entire family knows I only eat Red Vines, when I eat it at all. Two of my kids went to get me a spice from the grocery store later in the day and returned with red vines, which made me cry. There were a couple other similiar things that I hope the squirrels like. Then I opened a microwave popcorn popper. WTH? A paper bag or sauce pan do the same thing without requiring additional storage in my already too small kitchen AND I don't eat popcorn that frequently. He basically shopped at his store and honestly, if you can't bother to put any effort into then please don't bother. I consider it a slap in the face. I became so upset by the afternoon that I finally left instructions on how to cook to the two pans of lasagne and went to a movie alone. I just want someone to put in half as much effort as I do for them. My husband made a major booboo last year for my birthday. The first real oops he made in 19 years. He bought me a soft serve ice cream maker. bought it on amazon. had them wrap it and sent a card that said hope you enjoy this gift. He gave it to the one person that really doesn't like to eat ice cream. I do like ice cream. I only eat it in the hot part of the summer and I really only like DQ's vanilla with rainbow sprinkles. Since then he has made sure he has gotten things he knows I like and or want. One night he came home from work and had 2 of the most beautiful pointsettias I have ever seen. He said he went to the store and saw them as he walked in and walked on by then he spun around and went back and looked closer. He said he wanted to get a few of the white ones to go with them but he didn't like the look of the white after seeing the bright red one.

My 2 teens never like anything I pick out for them, so I only bought what they picked out, so no surprises for them. I gave up! But my 12 yr. old still likes what I pick out, so she got lots of surprises she loved, clothes this year.

We don't do a lot of gifting but we did have one funny 'miss.' I was ordering some perfume for my mother and my dad asked me to order a bottle of Caesar's Man cologne for him from Amazon as he can't find it locally anymore. So I ordered it.
At the same time, my mother asked a friend next door to order two bottles of the same cologne for my father as her Christmas gift to him. Mother and I compared notes eventually and realized we had way too many bottles of cologne but, well, with Amazon once you order it is out the door before you can stop it. Soon after, Mother receives a phone call from her neighbor telling her to bring $20 and come down there right away, her cologne had arrived. She knew it should cost more than that but she went on. When she opened the door, the smell was overwhelming. The package had been damaged in transit and the cologne was leaking through the box and all over her friend's old wooden desk. He was NOT happy. (The friend has a business and UPS had just dropped off the package the way they normally do, I suppose, is how the leak occurred on his desk). She paid for the one bottle that wasn't broken so Daddy only now has 2 bottles of cologne and one unhappy neighbor.

Probably the biggest hit was the Carrie Underwood tickets I got for my 9 yr old dd. It will be her very first concert. I practically got a tackle hug when she realized what it was. I also scored with the gift I got got my dh. He has very large hands (he is 6'6") that are always cold and even xl winter gloves are a bit small for him. I spent the money to order him a pair of really good, xxl sized winter gloves. He even is amused by how pleased he is to have them, even more so after having to go out and snowblow yesterday. actually, dd was pretty darn pleased with her gifts this year, I don't think she really had any misses. Not bad considering it is the first year I did not actually get her any toys. My my ds has a miss, same one as the last few years. He plays Magic the Gathering, a collectible trading card game. except that despite spelling out the name of the game on his list, and that two of her sons used to play it, my MIL continues to buy him packages of U-Gi-oh cards.

Both of my nephews 9 and 11 got laptops that were hits for the most part except that the one the 11yr old got is an Android and he can't figure out how to get Instagram on it and he really likes Instagram. He got the app for it but it won't work for some reason.
The skateboard and snowboard 11yr old got were hits. He also really loved his Tony Hawk tee shirt.
The 9yr old really like the video games he got and strangely was really excited about the pjs he got.
I liked all my gifts my sister stuck to my list so no misses.
I stuck to her list also so no misses for her either.
I think the only miss was a hat I got for the 11yr old. He has decided that he is a hat person and wears one all the time so I thought he would really like it but I can tell he doesn't.

Biggest hitbwas the Christmas stocking I sent to my grandmother. It had a whole bunch of christmassy stuff in it: Santa playing cards, christmas search-a-word, pot holders, kitchen towels, snowman scarf, etc. She called me up to thank me and was so excited. She is usually the hardest one to buy for and returns/complains about everything, lol. Made my day to hear she liked it Other things that were unexpected hits: a usb outlet for dd, a canning lid dipper/holder dh got for me, and a sportsman's knife I got for my brother who likes fishing (another hard to buy for person).
