I'm almost embarrassed to say that I only lasted 3 days. 3 days? That's truly pitiful
I read a nice quote about this the other day:
So even when you think you have "boring" day or few days, remember that you are doing this mainly for you, not for other people and not to impress anyone with how exciting your life is, it's another way of triggering memories. That's what I like about it. To another person I have nice picture of a lake, to me that was my mother's birthday and we had a picnic and walked around the lake. I remember what the weather was like, that we saw baby swans etc. So don't get put off because you think they aren't exciting, that's not really the point, the point is for you to remember the days. I can't tell you what I did on Aug 5th 2014...but I can now tell you what I did on that day in 2015, that's what I think is so cool about this.

I like this quote. They are secret moments that are special to me
I read a nice quote about this the other day:
One second, it turns out, is just for you. 1 Second Everyday also provides a window, but only for the user to look back into the past. The app lets users take a one second video of every day of their lives, which the app then sutures together to create a supercut of the user’s month, year, generation.
Of course, other people can view the compilation, but one second is just not long enough to convey an accurate story about that day for an outsider’s eyes. The app’s main purpose is to reveal a window for the user themselves to look in and shed light on the past, a tool to trigger memory.
Kuriyama states, “I have seconds that look incredibly boring, but represent ridiculously meaningful events in my life, and I have seconds that look gorgeous, but may have been relatively insignificant days of my life. Each second is a secret code to myself that only I know the hidden meaning of.”
According to Kuriyama, viewing one second of an event is just enough time to evoke a whole memory of an event, or an entire day. Recording just one second of an occasion also lets users spend their extra time not recording or not taking photos to be present and experience the moment as is
So even when you think you have "boring" day or few days, remember that you are doing this mainly for you, not for other people and not to impress anyone with how exciting your life is, it's another way of triggering memories. That's what I like about it. To another person I have nice picture of a lake, to me that was my mother's birthday and we had a picnic and walked around the lake. Here's mine for Jan. main points: - Easter buns already in the shop on Jan 7th!! - A few kitties I've met in my travels - On the bus to my best friend's house who has just moved 2 hours away - I'm still doing my 10,000 steps per day, but I've been getting bored with the same old walks, so my new strategy is to turn down different streets and explore where I live, I've found a few new parks in my local area I never knew about (hence lots of shots of trees) - Lunch with my Mother and a friend of ours Pam...who is just about to turn 90! her big birthday bash is in March.

I like it! I take lots of long walks, too! I love all of your kitty shots. I really like being intentional about finding something worth filming.

Maybe I'll try for February. If I double my January ones, and keep on that way, by May I'll be getting the whole month, lol.
I really enjoy watching these when you ladies post them.

I think it takes take a bit of time to get into the habit...do you have it set to remind you on your phone? A few times I've missed big events. last year I attended a big work function and totally forgot to take a video, so when I got home I looked up the restaurant on line and took a video of it from off the computer, not quite the same, but it means the 'memory' of the day is still there.

Mine has turned into one second every weekend. Because it's dark when I leave for work Mon-Thurs and dark when I come home. There's nothing in my office to video daily and only so many times I can video my cats. So when something interesting comes up on the weekend I just do that.

Here's mineHighlights for me: January 6th - Mark Zuckerberg liking my post January 19th - 400 people embracing a healthier lifestyle and joining my bootcamp January 24th - Finally wearing my bikini in front of other people IN PUBLIC at the lake January 31st - Meeting DH's grandnephew Caleb (and Chopper the dog makes a cameo) I really wanted to only have videos this year, but it's hard, so the odd picture has crept in. Less than last year.

January 31st - Meeting DH's grandnephew Caleb (and Chopper the dog makes a cameo) They're very cute! You're off to a great 2016 - at the start where it says "total distance 891" is that how far you ran in 2015? If so, that's awesome!

I'm doing 2 seconds again this year. Here is mine:
It was a big month for us. Some of the main highlights: DD got her licence We finally started renovating our 30 year old bathroom DD and I went skydiving - it was so amazing, I had to do more than 2 seconds!! DD was accepted into the university she wanted to attend to do Physiotherapy School started back for DS after 7 weeks of summer holidays (although I'm sure he'd say that was a lowlight haha!) We went to see one of my favorite bands, The Waifs, in a twilight concert at the zoo
I had to show 2 clips of the concert: One for our UK Peas - a song called "London Still" One for our US Peas - a song called "Bridal Train" about Australian girls marrying US soldiers during WW2 and heading off to the US to live. My clip shows the line "Land of the free"
One annoying thing that happened.... my underwater camera is knackered, the video doesn't have any sound any more. I might have to buy another one because I still use it for the beach and our once a year trip to the snow.

DD and I went skydiving - it was so amazing, I had to do more than 2 seconds!! That's pretty cool, definitely deserves more than 2 seconds! I see you're the one buying hot cross buns already....that's why they're in the shops so early. Your fault. Your partner always seems to be busy building something, does he think of it all, or are you behind it?

I will have to set it on my phone as a reminder. I am bummed that I missed a big one on Saturday. My Mom's 75th birthday. Ok. As soon as I finish my coffee, I will take the first one for February.

I've managed to capture a 1.5 second video every day this month. I've only briefly looked around on the 1SE app, but I haven't been able to find out how to make a continuous video. In the app, there's a little icon that looks like two videos next to each other...tap on that and options come up - I usually use 'custom', then scroll back and tap on the day you want the video to start (Jan 1st) and then tap on the day you want it to finish (Jan 31st) then tap on the 'checkmark' icon at the top and it will mash it together. Then you'll find the completed month when you click on the icon that looks like a little roll of film. Thank you!

Yay, well done! Love the snow shots, coming from somewhere that it never snows, it looks awesome. I also love that the snow video is followed by the boys with what looks like cold drinks. Going to take a wild guess that those Powerball numbers didn't come up?

Going to take a wild guess that those Powerball numbers didn't come up? Blizzard Jonas hit us pretty hard here--boys were not thrilled to be snowing. They were even less thrilled when their Canadian born mother who has shoveled her fair share of snow wasn't even the tiniest bit sympathetic to their plight! My son with glasses goes to speech therapy and his assignment that week was to practice using a "pause" technique to help with his stuttering and the therapist wanted him to practice while ordering since he identified it as being a time that stresses him out most. The boys thought practicing at Starbucks would be a good first step, so away we went for frappuccinos after his session. And alas, the Powerball gods did not favor us to win that time...but it's sparked a bug in my dh who now has to play numbers every week.

You're off to a great 2016 - at the start where it says "total distance 891" is that how far you ran in 2015? If so, that's awesome! Yep, I recorded 891km of running in 2015. I didn't record every run, so who knows that the total might have been? I'm aiming for 1200 km in 2016. 176 km ran so far, so I'm well on track. Trying not to make my whole movie about running because that would be boring for other people.
