I've never been able to make them work properly. And my eagerness to shove the food into my pie hole makes me impatient to try very hard when the food is set before me.
When answering, please rate your eagerness to shove food into your pie hole with 10 being the most eager and 1 being not eager at all.
When formulating this post, I never thought I'd use the word EAGER so many times.

Yes, I can eat with chopsticks. It was a skill learned in Hawaii for self preservation. Often they were the only utensils on the table. I had to either use them, eat with my fingers or go hungry(ier)

Yep, I can use them.
My daughter was suddenly able to use them recently when the restaurant only had chopsticks and no other silverware. She was pretty shocked.
Pick them up, settle them in your hand so you can move the top stick only and then don't think about it again.
I'll give myself an 8 on your eagerness scale.

Yes, I can use them. And I'm very eager. My 10 yr old has been able to eat with them for a few years. My 7 year old is having a harder time learning, but she's left handed so I have a harder time teaching her.

I usually only use them for sushi but I can use them for other meals if necessary.

Yes and I am definitely eager to eat. Using chopsticks is something I learned at home when I was young, not after a wait at a restaurant. That might make a difference. My kids are still learning. My eldest at 6 can use the learning ones that are lined up and springy.

Yes, I can use them fairly adeptly and can get food into my pie hole about as quickly as I do with a fork. Dh and all our kids can a well. DD was quite thrilled to be class champion in the chopstick-candy heart race at the school Valentine party a few years back.

I absolutely can! My first husband was Filipino and he taught me. Once I learned I now can't enjoy Asian food without using them. That's kind of funny.
The trick is you hold the lower one steady and only move the other one. They don't both move.
I'm a lefty too.

Daintily? Yes. Have not mastered to art of using them like shovel , like the Chinese guy my husband worked with and he never dropped a grain of rice. That is skill or as he says survival of being one six kids.

I use them because they do slow me down... Otherwise my food is gone in an instant!

Nope. I've never really tried. I rate about a 5 on eagerness to eat. Now my two sons? They both immediately took to chopsticks without any training. They just picked them up and went to town eating.

I understand the fundamentals, but use a fork 'cause ain't nobody got time for that.
I can use them to stab the hands of the people reaching for more sushi, though.

Yes. I used to worry that my kids would not learn, but I was mistaken. My youngest is a big xiao long bao fan and uses the spoon and chopsticks like a champ..

Yes, I can use them. And when I am having a blood sugar crash, I am a 10 on the eager scale. I can reliably shovel as much food into my maw with them as I can with a fork.

Kind of. They do pick up food but I have been told I hold them wrong. Meh they are great when I want to eat slow but if I am hungry give me a fork.

I can, but I don't ever really have an occasion where I need to. There is a woman at work who pulls chopsticks out of her desk drawer every time we have Thai food, and I then feel the need to point out that Thai people do not use chopsticks.

I can use them. I'm a pretty slow eater, but I get points for endurance. DH and DS both inhale their food and hate chopsticks because it slows them down. DS is a big fan of finger food.

Nope. Never even tried, I must confess. And depending on what I'm eating, anywhere between a 6 & an 11.

I can use them. My Japanese friend taught me years ago. I do have trouble with the shovel method when the rice is not sticky. So if I'm out somewhere and the fried rice is not sticky enough so that I can prevent dropping it, I'll use a fork for that. I could probably do with more practice, but I don't want to practice in a restaurant.

Ha ha, define USE. I can use them all right, to stab or twirl whatever I hope to shovel into my mouth. Other than that, no. Patience is not one of my better virtues!

I can use them. I dated a former Marine who spent time overseas and developed a taste for sushi and other dishes that are traditionally eaten with chopsticks. He taught me.
I've tried teaching dh but he can't get it so I only use them once in a while.

I used to eat them with them fairly well, but not anymore. My left had has no strength in it any more (I am doing exercises to help it) and eating with chopsticks hurts. I still can do it. If I am eating Japanese food I am not going to use a fork unless I have to. I was always told "You eat so well with chopsticks" which in English means "You still haven't picked up eating with chopsticks, have you?" I realize this and it's ok.

I learned very young so chopsticks are like a fork to me. My eagerness depends on the day, sometimes it's a 10 but usually a 5 or so. I actually prefer them for things like dumplings, noodles and rice.
I keep trainer chopsticks at home for those who want to learn but never did.

I can manage relatively well, but I am no expert. If I am ravenous, I use a fork. If I am hungry but not starving, I will use chopsticks till I get tired of using them.
