I wear lip balm everyday, but when my lips get to where yours are now, I use Vaseline.

Vaseline is my preferred lip stuff. Not only is it protective, but I get to pretend that I am wearing lip gloss too. I avoid it because it's petroleum based and I'd rather not eat the stuff! Maybe, but I am old enough that I am already doomed by a 1970's childhood so I throw caution to the wind.

Derm recommended Aquaphor for DS's dry lips when he was going thru accutane treatment. Put it on at night and you'll be better or see a huge improvement by morning.
And I will second A&D ointment as well. It works nearly as good/quick as Aquaphor!

one thing I can't live with is chapped lips. the pain and scraggly feeling of the lips are annoying. for that reason I have lip balm in every room of the house, car, purse and office. but I kinda get how you feel about the feel of it. I hate the feeling and smell of sunscreen. thank goodness I'm not a sun lover.

Have you tried the MK Satin Lips set? That is the only thing I buy from them, and it is a miracle worker on chapped lips.

I hate the feeling and smell of sunscreen. Ohhhh...I love the smell of sunscreen. I have beach stuff that even after washing smells like the beach and Coopertone.

I hate that greasy lotion smell especially when it's coconut. I think it's the coconutty smell that's the worst. if there was one that smelled like citrus, I could almost tolerate it but it's also that greasy feeling that I hate. I can take it on my lips but not my skin.

Have you tried exfoliating them with a scrub while showering? That combined with moisturizing helped me through dry patches. My fave lip balm is the Palmer's cocoa butter tube.
