Snuggles.
It's a puff pastry that is twisted in like a cone sorta looking thing and full of cinnamon, sugar, butter, pecans, not a filling but like it was laid out on the dough and twisted up into it!
Sometimes they drizzle a white glaze on them.
Flaky crumbly messy but sooo good!
We also have lots of sweet pierogi's too.

I think we do (Vermont/New England), but we just call them fried bread dough. And they are great with maple syrup on them. Although my personal preference is a savory one with pizza sauce and parmesan cheese instead of a sweet topping. Here they are always called elephant ears and served with cinnamon sugar, no other toppings. They usually have cinnamon sugar or confectionary sugar/powdered sugar as traditional toppings, but many places also offer maple syrup. Then you have those few extra special places (at least in my eyes) that also offer the pizza sauce. Often times at the end of sugaring my family (and friends) will have a dinner that includes fried bread dough and/or apple fritters and some of our new maple syrup. It is a favorite of mine for sure.

people generally associate "maple" with canadian desserts... other than real maple syrup and tim horton's maple dipped donuts, i don't like anything maple. most especially NOT these: probably most famous Canadian cookies(i also don't like nainamo bars... way too sweet and not a fan of dark chocolate, i have tried mint ones, bailey's flavoured ones... they still all taste too rich for me) Those cookies are SO GOOD!!!!! I can't allow myself to buy them because they go down too fast. My favourite canadian treat though are definitely butter tarts and they MUST be homemade, not the crappy store bought ones. I prefer pecan to raisins, but I won't turn any kind down! nanaimo bars are another favourite

Cuban bakery-pictured here guava pies: pandebono (Columbian) Arepa with cheese (Colombian) More Cuban bakery pictures Tres Leches (it's a NICARAGUAN dessert, NOT Cuban) Bunuelos (Nicaraguan) Rice pudding (Nicaraguan) I can go on. Honestly, we have so many cultures down here that the choices are embarrassing.

Another Florida girl here. I think Key Lime Pie is the most recognized, but it really probably depends on which part of the state you are in. I grew up in North Florida and it wasn't really a part of our menu at all. Key Limes don't grow well that far north. For us, it would have been Banana pudding, pecan pie (or chess pie-kind of a custardy pie) or Lane Cake. When I was a little girl, our elementary school had about a dozen pecan trees that provided shade for the playground and when the pecans dropped, we would scoop them up and eat them until our stomachs hurt. A lot of times, our parents would send brown paper bags and we would collect them to take home to our moms for baking purposes. there was a Lane Cake in TKAMB!! i have a recipe and have always wanted to make one!

Kolaches--which are a pastry originally from Czechoslovakia. Kolaches have fruit in the center of the pastry. Unfortunately, many people confuse them with the pastry from Poland (which has meat in it). I can't remember the name for the sausage in the pastry (like pigs in a blanket). I wonder if we live in the same general area. Kolaches were my first thought too. I'm in Central Texas.

Black and White cookies!
I've seen mini ones in prepackaged boxes and at Starbucks, but I had never seen them (big ones) until I came to NY.

I live about 2 hours outside Nanaimo, BC and we have Nanaimo bars. I looked these up and they look very good. Never heard of them but may try them sometime. Thanks. I have been making Nanaimo bars for over forty years and I have never even been to BC. Try them they are delicious. I keep a tin of custard powder in the cupboard all the time just for these.

Not really uncommon or different - I'd say our area is best known for Peach Cobbler.

Pot Brownies? Edibles? Rocky Mountain oysters? Kidding! I dont know about Colorado other than we get beautiful Palisade peaches every year. I think Gerogia has that one covered.
It's It is the regional treat I remember from growing up in Northern California.

I went to a tea today and had a Nanaimo bar. OMG it was so sweet! I think my teeth are bleeding from the sweetness. It was delicious and fresh and all but it was so sweet. I am sure they are from Costco.

Here in Pittsburgh we have a cake that I haven't seen anywhere else. Its called a burnt almond torte. It's comprised of Prantl's "famous yellow 'scrap' batter cake, creamy custard, homemade buttercream and loads of secret recipe toasted almonds. It is yummy. We have tasty cakes here too. They are like little debbie snacks that you buy at the store but better. My favorite are the butterscotch krimpets. Nearby in West Virginia we will pick up Pepperonni buns .

Empanadas, Dulce De Leche, flan, Tres Leches. I don't really care for any of them except Flan, but it's pretty regional here on the border.

Not sweet nor delicate, Philadelphia is the home of the Philly soft pretzel and Tastykake. The Jersey shore has salt water taffy. Fralingers and Shrivers are the best IMHO. I am listening to Stephanie Plum books and she talks about Tastykakes. I did not realize the were a real thing. They even have their own jingle. "Nobody bakes a cake as tasty as a Tastykake!"

In the western PA area, we have cookie tables at weddings. They still have a wedding cake; and in addition, a table full of assorted cookies to eat and take home with you. Growing up, I thought they had these at weddings all over the US,and was shocked to find out differently. And, the assortment can vary, but it had better include some lady locks- flaky pastry tubes filled with cream and dusted with powdered sugar. I grew up in Youngstown & we do the same thing. My dd gets married later this year and we are having one. There are Facebook pages dedicated to them.

We have a lot of desserts that come from various ethnic backgrounds that are prevalent here, such as cannoli, paczki, pizzelle, kolaches, pizza fritte, rugelach, etc. And we definitely have the wedding (and any other event) cookie tables. Plus, as already mentioned we have Tastykake. There's also a long-time chocolate company regional to this area (NY, NJ, PA)----Gertrude Hawk's. (Oh, and the pigs in the blanket are halupki. )

We live in CO, you can only get funnel cake here. It's not bad, but fried dough is so much better!

Oh, I just remembered Islays (sp?) created the Klondike Bar. It's a square piece of vanilla ice cream covered in a chocolate shell, and sooo good. And, they started chipped chopped ham, which is ham lunch meat cut up in pieces versus slices.

I'm in Nebraska, but my mom's side of the family is from northwestern Iowa and my grandma always made stroopwafle cookies. We called them buggy step cookies because my grandpa made a special iron to cook them, one at a time, out of a pair of buggy steps he took off of an old buggy sitting out in the pasture. They are made with a yeast dough which is cooked over an open fire (gas stove) then sliced in half and filled with a caramel filling! They are perfect!!! Good Dutch cookies!
