I'm still reading 2 books that I have been reading for a long time! I really want to read other books but need to finish these first. They are both good I'm just not in the habit of reading like I used to be.
Oh I'm reading The Heir by Kiera Cass and I'm reading a book by Phillipa Greggory called The Other Boyelyn Girl. I really enjoy her writing!

I've been super busy with other things in the last week, but I did start Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty and am enjoying it more than I thought I would. I've not read this author and when I read the synopsis I thought that reading about a bunch of moms whos kids go to school together wouldn't be the kind of book I like, but a friend gave it to me with the recommend and I have to say I'm really enjoying the story and honestly.....it sort of reminds of 2Peas.

I'm almost done with a novel called Ross Poldark by Winston Graham. It's the first of a series of books written in the 1940s, about a man from Cornwall who comes home to England from fighting in the American Revolution. He discovers his father is dead, the woman he loves is marrying another man, and his lands and property are in disarray. I'm really enjoying it. I think a reading Pea here recommended this series a while back. And the BBC has done a production called "Poldark" based on these books, so I'll probably watch that once I'm done with the books. ------------------------------------------------------- YEP!! that's me!! Be warned! There are 12 books in the series! ha. I am currently on book 12!!!! my goal was to have the series done before summer. I started it last fall and I wanted it done in under a yr. I'm going to make it! I LOVED!! loved this series! But this last book, I can see why he finally ended it. ha. I also loved the PBS series out now, and can't wait for it to restart.

This week I read Secrets of a Charmed Life by Susan Meissner. The previous book I read The Fall of Marigolds was by the same author and I loved that book so much that I looked up on my library website if they had any more books by the same author and this was one of the 3 they had. Secrets of a Charmed Life is classified as historical fiction by my library who does this wonderful thing by putting stickers on the spines of their books to let you know which books are historical fiction (my favorite genre). I love this-it saves me tons of time when I'm scanning the shelves pulling books out to check to see if I might like them.
Anyway, it's the story of 2 girls who are sisters during WW2 in London, England and the bombings are just beginning to start. Their mother, who is a single mother, has a chance to send them to safety out to the country along with one million children who are also evacuated out of London to foster homes. The eldest Emmy has a burning ambition to design wedding dresses and has an amazing talent for it as proven by her drawings that she's shown to the local wedding shop where she's just gotten a part time shop. She's 15-the top age of children to be allowed to be evacuated and if it was up to her she wouldn't go-but there is her youngest sister Julia who at 7 has mostly been her responsibility since her mother's always had to work to put food on the table. Emmy's even more frustrated when her new boss tells her she knows of a man who's willing to look at her drawings and possibly offer her an apprenticeship.
I give this book 3.5 stars. It was a great story, but I didn't like how the author handled the end part by having the reader learn the last part by reading a journal instead of just writing it out. It is rated highly on goodreads.com so maybe that's just me.

The past couple weeks, I read The Cousins O'Dwyer Trilogy by Nora Roberts and My Soul To Keep by Rachel Vincent. I really liked the Nora Roberts trilogy. They were super quick, pretty predictable, but enjoyable reads. My Soul to Keep is the 3rd in her Soul Screamers series. It was just ok. I liked the first 2 books better, and just started the 4th book, My Soul to Save and hope it will be better.
