Wow, so much going on. Now we know that Adam isn't really Adam.
Hank self-inflicted the head bashing with Adam's bat. If the girl who sold him the cake that said *I WIN* watched the news, she could report the incident to the police.
The guy who kidnapped Adam is just plain creepy.
Adam's sister is pretty creepy too. She needs a good therapist. Actually the entire family should be in counseling!
Who else is watching?

I watched and liked first two episodes, but haven't been able to focus on next, the one with puppies maybe?
Reading your spoilers makes me want to get back to it! DH and I are usually kiss of death, any show we like gets cancelled. You might regret encouraging me!

I was behind and watched the last two episodes last night. I figured from the get go that Hank did it to himself. And I agree the daughter has some major issues.

Lots of twists and turns. I like it. Found the scene with Hank bashing himself with the bat hard to watch! I was really touched by the shower scene when they connected after so much hardship. She had faith in him and it drew him closer to her. Now hopefully he can keep it in his pants. Sheesh!

I am still watching.
Curious who Adam really is. What are Hank's dark secrets? The daughter is strange.

I am really enjoying it. With this one though, I think a shorter run might be good if they could wrap everything up. After all the secrets about the kidnapping come out, I don't know where they will go with the show that will be as interesting.

I really like it, but also hope it is a short run. I want them to wrap it all up, and I don't know if it would be interesting once the questions are answered. What I don't want is for them to drag out all of the answers over several seasons.
I love the twists and turns! I really want to know who fake Adam is, and what happened to real Adam. I'm still not convinced that Hank is innocent of killing real Adam. This show is so interesting!
ETA: The acting is pretty phenomenal. I love Rupert Graves, and Andrew McCarthy is incredible as Hank.

I agree with y'all that a short run would be better but main stream tv networks don't usually do that. My theory is that there were two boys in the underground cell and he took the other boy's identity. After that many years I'm sure he knew everything about the other boy. This is one person's opinion on whether ABC will cancel the show: Here's why ABC will cancel The Family: When ABC announced that it wasn't renewing Blood & Oil and its episode order was being cut to 10 episodes, Blood & Oil was putting up a 0.9 rating. But ABC was desperate to protect its Sunday 10pm hit Quantico, which was getting hurt by a weak lead-in. Doing some basic television arithmetic, we can all see a 0.6 is much worse than a 0.9, and though a non-holiday episode may see the series bounce back, it's never going to go much higher than that. Of Kings and Prophets was killed after just two episodes only a week and a half ago, with the Biblical drama tallying a 0.5 in its second episode. That's close enough to a 0.6. The Family is toast. Here's why ABC won't cancel The Family: Though a 0.6 looks awful, ABC's "prize" Quantico only notched a 0.8 on the same day. And when you look at DVR numbers, The Family performs really well. Its second episode tied for the third-highest percentage jump of the week, jumping 100 percent to a 1.6 rating. (However, DVR stats are only available through the second episode of The Family, and it's likely that they fell off after that.) ABC also doesn't have a replacement at the ready, and it needs to keep a drama in the 9pm slot in order to keep any semblance of a Sunday night block and keep viewers around until Quantico airs.

I've noticed I'm losing interest in second and third seasons of this type of show. I want a nice clean one season show and then I want to move on. Kind of like a book, I prefer to complete a book and go onto a different type of book instead of series books.

I am slightly bugged. I missed it on 3/20 because I wasn't home. I thought I could watch on Netflix, but it's not on there. I don't have Hulu and don't want to get it. And then last week, on 3/27, I was all set to watch. I turned it on, when oooooooops! I was an hour late, and it had ended. I thought for sure I would be able to watch online at ABC.com but looks like they don't have that option. #FirstWorldProblems Lisa

If not, you can watch episodes on ABC.com a week after they run.

When I turn our TV on and a program started like 5 or so minutes before, it asks me if I want to start from the beginning. How awesome is that?

I am still watching too. So the guy that is traveling and sending Adam post cards, can we talk about him? Do you think he and Hank were working together? Or possibly that it's two separate kidnappings? I think that the real Adam is dead, and this other kid assumed his identity after his escape from the postcard guy. There are so many layers to this show that I will keep watching until the end. I really don't get why John is still having the affair with the cop/detective lady. I keep looking at her now and she appears so young, and then they flash back 10 years ago and I can hardly believe she would have been a cop/investigator back then.

yeah I don't know about a second season. I was really loving the shows that were a short 6 weeks and then over. I honestly thought this was one of those.

I'm watching. I too don't see how it can go past 1 season. Maybe 2 if they drag it out.
I like the theory of 2 boys being down there. Possibly the real Adam didn't escape and the guy that did it has him stashed elsewhere until he can bring him to his house.
Also, what about that key that "Adam" has?

I didn't think Adam was really Adam because it'd be far less suspenseful otherwise, but I am interested to see what brought him there. I hadn't thought about him being another victim (good theory) and have been assuming he's somehow working for someone else to infiltrate this family. I'm in agreement that I want this season to wrap up and just be done. I don't think I'll care about these people beyond the scope of this season. I really don't get why John is still having the affair with the cop/detective lady. I keep looking at her now and she appears so young, and then they flash back 10 years ago and I can hardly believe she would have been a cop/investigator back then. Thank you! This has been driving me nuts. She barely looks old enough to be a detective now, much less to have been one ten years ago. I was also bothered by the fact that she was straight to work without a pause after the shooting. She made a remark that she'd talk to the shrink, but "heroic" or not, she would've been on paid leave for some weeks following that event. I'm also ready to start drinking myself every time they remind the older brother that he's a drunk. He's a drunk. We get it already. Andrew McCarthy (who I'm still in love with from my youth) is phenomenally creepy! I am glued to all his scenes and am curious to see whether he did actually kill Adam or what. The sister is a different kind of creepy and seems to be the one who knows everyone's secrets. If she didn't have any direct involvement, I'll bet she at least knew what really happened and has kept it secret to protect her dad & her mom's political career.

I think the sister is an absolutely tortured soul. She's been trying to keep it together for everyone for so long that she's never had her own identity.

We don't know for sure if Adam isn't Adam, we only know that John isn't his biological father. His wife could have had an affair!

I think the two victims thing could be right (if this boy isn't Adam). Whether he's Adam or not, that kid has been through some stuff. Didn't we see horrible scars all over his back in the first episode? Scars that looked like he had been beaten with a whip or something?
I too wish this was limited run show. Revenge tried to go on for season after season and they took a great idea, and a great show and just started making it overly silly and contrived. The first season or two of that show, I was glued to it. I stopped watching the last season it made me so mad. I only tuned in for the finale.
Speaking of limited run shows, is Secrets and Lies coming back this summer?

This is probably way off, but I think the sister may have been involved in the real Adam's death and her dad helped her hide his body. Something happened and he was killed accidentally. The sister took it a step further and planted the bottle ship thing in the neighbor's house. The dad had the affair with the cop to keep close to the case. The sister is very savvy with media and hears about a young male that has escaped from a kidnapper. She gets to the hospital to pay off a doctor and have him say Adam is her brother. Maybe she was trying to get the neighbor out of prison. The guilt was too much for her. The part I can't figure is how quickly he did know about personal things about the family. Maybe the kidnapper was obsessed with the story and the fake Adam knew details that way? He wanted so badly to have a place to live? He did keep watching home videos. I don't know. ETA: I'm usually way off on these type of shows. I was shocked at the ending of Sixth Sense.

I think the sister does know something about Adam's disappearance. Maybe she was jealous of the friendship between Adam and Hank.
