I try to use it in place of rice or other mini pastas in recipes... so it can go in salad or in cooked dishes.
Like stuffed peppers, instead of meat and rice, I do them Mexican style with black beans (u can use whatever u like) a quinoa medley, some chopped onions, spices. Heat them thru in oven, then add a little cheese to top to melt at end. Can even add salsa, guac, etc to eat. You could add corn or other chopped veggies too. A vegetarian whole foods meal (except the cheese!)
I used to buy it raw and do the whole washing and prepping, but I've found some prepped organic versions that work just fine and are a bit faster, albeit, some preservatives added.

I like to have it for breakfast, so I'll add some vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste while it cooks. Top with fruit (blueberries and bananas are my fave for this), and maybe a dash of cinnamon and a drizzle of honey or agave. Yum!

Just went to Grand Lux Cafe and had a kale and warm quinoa salad. They added pumpkin seeds, Apples, dates. Yummy

I'm not a fan of quinoa. I've eaten it a few times in different ways and I just don't love it. My hubby yells "ME NEITHER!" from the background... I need to find some recipes where I can mix it into something and barely know it's there! Maybe I can mix it with brown rice and eat it with something. I have a big jar in the fridge waiting to be eaten...
My friend told me that some colors have more flavor than others (I think the pale stuff is quinoa-lite - gateway quinoa). And sometimes it comes pre-washed so the bitter saponins aren't an issue. Of course some people taste bitterness more strongly than others... I'm pretty sensitive to it.
We also pronounce it "kwee-no" for a laugh. I don't know why English had to borrow the French spelling of the original word, when it could have just been written keenwa.
