We are renting an SUV for a week for our trip to NC in July. Back in February, I booked through Sam's Club for $303 ($43 and change per day) for the 7 days. I was pretty happy with that rate. I checked rates again today and was able to re-book for $233 ($33 and change per day) for the week! We are picking up in suburban Chicago, not an airport. Thanks for reminding me to follow up on that reservation.

I just booked through a Hilton Hotel link - mini SUV (Toyota Rav4 or similar), pick up at Washington Dulles Alamo, $574 for 14 days. Funny, that's exactly the $41 per day that a previous poster mentioned. I haven't checked out Costco yet.

We have had better luck calling and talking to an agent. They canusually do better than an online quote.

Last summer we were very successful booking a great rate through Costcotravel. The first rate was quite reasonable, but the rate kept decreasing. As the rate decreased I would book the new rate and cancel the previous.

I always book a rental thru Southwest..no you don't have to fly to book and they quote you every car company and rates by car type.
I just booked a minivan in Orlando in June for under $150 for 7 days. I booked a convertible in Myrtle Beach at end of May for less than $50 a day.

Costco Costco. If I even think we are taking a trip, I book with them, as nobody has been able to beat them. You can have 2 drivers for no additional fee and the prices are great.

We need to rent a car this summer and I didn't know you could rent through Southwest. We plan on flying Southwest.
