Velveeta cheese, a sprinkling of fresh chopped onion and tomato slices. What is your favorite way to make a grilled cheese sandwich?

Sharp cheddar with tomato slices. Swiss with pastrami and sauerkraut (a Reuben) Cheddar and bacon.
Now I'm hungry. And I'm not allowed to eat bread.... well, only the stuff imported from Europe does not make me sick. I would LOVE to make a sandwich with some yummy sourdough...
Enjoy your sandwiches if this thread motivates you to make and eat them today

My absolute favorite is sourdough bread, buttered with rosemary. Brie, fig jam, and apple slices inside. Heaven.
Another favorite is sourdough with Brie, lemon curd, and blueberries.
Okay, I was going to make quiche for dinner, may have changed my mind.

Never heard of asparagus pesto. Homemade using asparagus in place of basil? Garlicky? Also, would you put it inside the sandwich before grilling, or kind of dip it into it after it is cooked?

Creamy Smoked Gouda and mild cheddar on sourdough bread with mayo on the inside. Have been wanting to try adding avocado slices but am afraid to mess with perfection.
Growing up mom made it with Velveeta, mayo and fried bologna on Mrs. Baird's wheat bread. Mmm memories!

My absolute favorite is sourdough bread, buttered with rosemary. Brie, fig jam, and apple slices inside. This sounds delicious! If you have HEB in the deli section they make a good rosemary sourdough bread. I really like it for grilled cheese sandwiches, but it does sometimes overpwer the flavor of the cheese, depending on my mood. Worth a try!

I'm pretty simple, cheddar or cheddar and Jack, mayo and whatever bread I have on hand. Though I also like a good tuna melt

Asparagus pesto is lightly steamed asparagus puréed with garlic, salt, lemon juice, pine nuts, Parmesan cheese an olive oil. You smear it between the bread and cheese for a grilled cheese sandwich.

Basic; white bread, cheddar cheese. I do like to put potato chips in there once the cheese is melted, but they have to be the right flavor. I'm not opposed to a fancy grilled cheese. I have lots of ideas saved on pinterest.

For some reason I hate to make grilled cheese sandwiches.... I had our daughters convinced when they were little that only Daddy knew how to make grilled cheese! Comfort food: Tomato soup, grilled cheese with sharp cheddar, and a snowy day....

Grilled cheese is one of my most favorite things to eat. I am open to any kind, from just sharp cheddar to anything and everything. My only must is the bread needs to have been slathered with butter, grilled till crispy and the cheese is really melty.

Feeling very unsophisticated. I only like grilled cheese with American cheese. Bread doesn't have to be white, but it has to be the squishy kind, nothing crusty like sourdough.

Our Relay for Life team is well known for it's grilled cheese sandwiches - that is our on site fundraiser - and we sell out every year! We're called The Big Cheesy Here is our menu: The Southern Belle - Texas toast slathered with butter, bacon, homemade pimento cheese, strawberry jam. (my personal favorite) THe Cure - Texas toast, Pepper Jack, jalepenos, bacon The All American - Texas Toast, American cheese, cheddar + bacon if requested The South of the Border - same as The Cure minus the bacon The Old Fashioned - American cheese only all sandwiches are served with homemade pasta salad and a beverage of choice After relay is over we won't eat grilled cheese around here for a looonnnggg time because we'll be so tired of them. But when we do, it's a family event. We call it Bad Ass grilled cheese night!

Right there with you sister. I am all about the old school, unwrap the plastic before you slap it on the overly buttered white bread cheese. Although, every once in a while I like to throw on some sliced turkey. But even then it isn't sliced turkey off a turkey, it is sliced turkey from a container in the refrigerated section at Publix. Preferably with salty french fries and a diet coke-because if you are going to go all fatty mcfat fat, you might as well go whole hog.

I like it super simple - white bread & American cheese. I bake mine in the oven. The only appropriate side is Campbell's tomato soup.
We were going to grill burgers for dinner tonight until we found on Facebook that it's grilled cheese day, so we took part.

Egg bread/challah, cheddar, slice of ripe beefsteak tomato, is my favorite. Although, I will eat and love just about any grilled cheese sandwich.

I usually use Muenster cheese in mine, sometimes with thin slices of honey ham between the cheese slices.

DD's Gourmet Grilled Cheese--melt butter and brush onto one side of a slice of sourdough. Sprinkle grated Parmesan onto the butter side. Spread on pesto the unbuttered side, and top with the cheese of your choice. The Parmesan makes the crust extra crispy and delicious.

Creamy Smoked Gouda and mild cheddar on sourdough bread with mayo on the inside. Have been wanting to try adding avocado slices but am afraid to mess with perfection. I should have stuck to the original, the avocado didn't really add anything to my experience. To be certain though, I'll have to have another "original recipe" style

Bread and cheese of choice with slices of tomato and onion in between, grilled to crispy perfection. Slice in two (diagonally) and dip in ketchup.
